John Muhammad guilty, coverage incomplete

"A jury convicted John Allen Muhammad of capital murder Monday, concluding he used a rifle, a beat-up car and a teenager who idolized him to kill randomly and terrorize the Washington area during last year's sniper spree."

No mention was made in this article of the possibility that John Muhammad was waging his own private jihad, or that he may have had ties with a radical Muslim group, Al-Fuqra, that has numerous links to Al-Qaeda and Osama bin Laden.

If anyone has any information about what became of probes into Muhammad's possible ties with Al-Fuqra, please let me know. There is a curious media indifference to this question, as there is with so many things.

I have heard from JTF.org that Muhammed was involved in a fragging incident in Gulf War 1 that was similar to Akbar without the casualties. Is this true?

Yes, it is.

It is not a "curious media indifference." It is a curious media avoidance. They only place I have seen reference to the political beliefs of these fellows is in one of Ann Coulter's books, where she said they had binLaden posters in the home, and took target practice against infidels, as I remember it. Now why would there be such a blackout in the U.S. media? Just because it reflects unfavorably against two American blacks? Or is there some thought more public knowledge about these killers will help people support George W. Bush and the War on Terror?

The last time I read any mention of John Muhammad having ties to Al-Fuqra was in the Washington Times, 11/13/02 in an article "Accused snipers may be followers" by Jerry Seper and Steve Miller.
The following is part of that article...

"Federal authorities are investigating whether accused snipers John Allen Muhammad and John Lee Malvo had ties to a growing sect of militant Americn Muslims committed to waging holy war against the United States.

Law-enforcement authorities yesterday said investigators want to know whether the suspects-now awaiting separate murder trials in Virginia-were involved with Jamaat al-Fuqra, a militant Muslim group with documented ties to international terrorism that has been linked to 13 slayings and 17 firebombings in the United States and Canada.

The al-Fuqra network, through an offshoot group known as the Muslims of America, has established a patchwork of more than two dozen communes from New Yoirk to California, including a sizable retreat in Red House, VA., 30 miles south of Lynchburg, where as many as 200 people live in trailers in a guarded community.

FBI agents assigned to the sniper investigation task force were in Red House last week, seeking information on whether Mr. Muhammad and Mr. Malvo had ties to that community or whether they had used the site as a hide-out during a 23-day killing spree in Virginia, Maryland and the District that left 10 persons dead and three others wounded.

Charlotte County Sheriff Thomas D. Jones, whose jurisdiction includes Red House, said that while FBI agents did not establish any specific link with the southern Virginia commune, agents told him "there had been a connection at a similar community in Georgia"."

Sheik Jilani(or Gilani)of Pakistan is the leader of MOA and al-Fuqra. He was the man that Daniel Pearl wanted to interview when he was kidnapped. The Sheik also was a spiritual advisor to Osama Bin Laden. Al-Fuqra members deal in fake and stolen ID's, fire-bombings and assassination. We have a compound here in Tennessee near Dover and they keep a low profile. They have connections to the largest mosque in middle Tennessee, whose imam is a Yemini and was at the infamous Brooklyn mosque, Al-faruq (where Al-quaeda recruited and the blind sheik Rahman,in jail for the first WTC bombing, preached). If the FBI found any connections between John Muhammad and al-Fuqra and it had come out in the trial, surely the Washington Times would have reported it.
