"With the nation on high terror alert, the F.B.I. is asking New Jersey Muslims to report any suspicious activity, including threats against themselves, mosques or schools, as well as potential terrorist activity." This from AP, via the New York Times.
Wait a minute. You mean this hasn't been done on an ongoing basis since 9/11? I would have thought that the FBI had a standing request to all American Muslims to do these things, and that the patriotic moderate Muslims that CAIR keeps telling us about would have been only too happy to oblige. And indeed, it does seem as if this latest request is somehow connected with "continuing efforts" — at least in regard to bias crimes against Muslims:
"Continuing efforts it intensified after the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks, the F.B.I. in New Jersey contacted Muslim community leaders in northern New Jersey earlier this week and asked for help in tracking and preventing bias crimes, as well as potential terrorism."
Nice of them to add "potential terrorism" to the list of concerns.
"At least six of the Sept. 11 hijackers either lived or spent time in the Paterson area shortly before the attacks. The request came shortly after the nationwide terror alert was raised to orange, representing a high risk of terror attack. The raising of the alert followed warnings that the terrorist organization Al Qaeda might be plotting attacks against the United States during the holidays. John Paige, supervisory special agent in the F.B.I.'s West Paterson office, said the bureau had received useful information from local residents after past outreach efforts." Glad to hear it.
The FBI Bureaucracy is so massive that it could take years before there is any serious, in-depth investigation into the Jihad in the USA.
While FBI resources are squandered on chasing down American kids sharing songs-----and covering their asses regarding past failures, they have still not put together any effective mechanism to monitor money laundering or terrorist activities AT THEIR POINT OF ORIGIN, outside of the United States.
Wanna report a "tip" about money laundering or terror activities to the FBI while living outside of the USA? Forget it! There is really no way to do so without risking your life.
The Feds, who monitor all e-mail traffic with their "Carnivore" system, have only one e-mail address themselves-------and they don't want "foreign" informants.
In an amazing bit of double-speak, "Tips" from Arab countries are met with this;

Former FBI Assitant Director Steve Pomerantz is a good source of information regarding the inability of the Feds to "get it right"---except when investigating harrassment of American Muslims of course.
