The Washington Post reports that a member of a Virginia jihad group was acquitted. It seems that among other things he dozed off at a key meeting.
Those who doubt the relevance of the Kashmir conflict to the war on terror should be reminded that one of the key features of the war is a new kind of enemy: a loosely affiliated network of jihad warriors eager to go wherever the fight for radical Islam takes them. Today Kashmir, tomorrow — perhaps right here at home.
A federal judge yesterday threw out the case against a member of an alleged Virginia jihad network, ruling that prosecutors had failed to present any evidence that the man was involved in a conspiracy to train for jihadist combat abroad.
U.S. District Judge Leonie M. Brinkema said that although Caliph Basha Ibn Abdur-Raheem subscribed to a "radical form of Islam" and played paintball in the Virginia countryside, there was no evidence that he was training for jihad. Prosecutors contend, and several witnesses have testified, that the paintball games played by the network of 11 men simulated warfare."He is an ordinary run-of-the-mill paintball player. . . . Paintball by itself is not an illegal enterprise. Many people do participate in paintball,'' said Brinkema, who noted that Abdur-Raheem had attended meetings of alleged co-conspirators but had dozed off at a key one.
Although Brinkema also dismissed various counts against the other three men on trial in Alexandria, she refused to drop the most serious charges, that some of them trained with a foreign terrorist group and that one had conspired to support al Qaeda and the Taliban.
This one walks.
I knew he would.
The prisoners at Guantanamo Bay,Cuba, are released one by one, just to go back and resume their jihad...our brave troups in Afghanistan and Iraq are sacrificing their life in the process to capture these criminals, and our legal system is setting them free.
It looks that our judges are more concerned with the wellbeing of the islamic jihadists, than the national security.
As long as this will continue,we don`t stand any chances to defend ourselves properly...in other words,we are doomed.
God save America.
Lets just hope the FBI will be watching his every move.
I think this judge must be some kind of leftist activist, or else an Islamist, one.
Did anyone else notice this is the same judge I believe in the Hamdi case.
Yes,it is the same one.
Also hearing the Zach.Moussaoui case.
They will all walk.
The judge said "there was not enough evidence that he was training for jihad"...what else could he have trained for?!
Are the judges not elected by public vote in this country?!
Aren`t we the ones that have the power to vote such judges out of office?!
If a judge think it is more important to be concerned of the terrorists and their "rights",rather than being concerned with our nation`s safety,i say such a judge should not be allowed to sit on that bench.
Such a judge should rather sit on the defendant`s bench....especially if the terrorists she has set free, later will carrie terrorists attacks against America.
God save our great country!
Another example of the system protecting the rights of criminals and not protecting the public. He will join with the "unknowns" to continue jihad.
Our countrymen and women are living in rose-colored fantasy world. They believe that the evil and the hatred won't touch them and that they can continue their lives as before. Only another 9-11 incident will drive home the reality of the situation.
Our Western Court system will never convict any of these terrorists because there is always "innocent until proven guilty" - which with the current judges usually means NEVER!
