Hussein Ibish of the ADC has taken a potshot at Daniel Pipes and Jihad Watch director Robert Spencer in a Philadelphia Inquirer op-ed.
The idea that Islam, and by extension Muslims, are inherently violent and irrational has become commonplace in our culture. . . .Since 9/11, right-wing evangelical preachers such as Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell, and commentators such as Robert Spencer and Daniel Pipes, have spared no effort to spread fear and hatred of Islam and the growing American Muslim community.
This defamation probably has its greatest parallel in the anti-Semitic ideas that took hold in American culture between the First and Second World Wars. . . .
Violence, extremism and intolerance are universal human failings. They certainly are not particular to any culture or faith.
Pipes and Spencer sent this reply to the Inquirer:
How ironic that in an article purporting to deplore stereotyping and misrepresentation (“Violence is a human, not an Islamic trait,” op-ed, Feb. 1), Hussein Ibish resorts to his own mudslinging – in particular against ourselves.Mr. Ibish falsely states that we have propagated the idea that “Islam, and by extension Muslims, are inherently violent and irrational.” We challenge him to document such a statement by either of us. Nor is their any more truth to his calumny that either of us has “spread fear and hatred of Islam and the growing American Muslim community.”
Rather what we have done, consistently and repeatedly, is point out the dangers of the totalitarian movement known as radical (or militant) Islam, one which threatens Muslims no less than the rest of humanity.
Mr. Ibish’s defamation also has a darker undercurrent. Whatever Mr. Ibish’s own views may be – and he loudly proclaims himself not to be a supporter of radical Islam – the fact is that in this and his other writings, he waves away the grisly record of radical Islam. Imagine a German in the 1930s dismissing Nazi atrocities, as Ibish writes about radical Islam’s violence, by saying that “violence, extremism and intolerance are universal human failings.”
This pattern has recurred throughout his career. Like the Italian Fascists who ignored Mussolini’s crimes but praised his efficiency in making the trains run on time, Ibish once lauded Hamas (which President Bush calls “one of the deadliest terrorist organizations in the world today”) for “running hospitals and schools and orphanages.”
In his Inquirer op-ed, Mr. Ibish has once again acted as an apologist for the crimes of a brutal totalitarian movement. He thereby makes himself one of its cadres.
In this context, that Mr. Ibish then dares compare our views to those of anti-Semites of the 1930s is a bit rich; and even more so when one realizes that the radical Islam he praises is the main source of anti-Semitism today, one which threatens a new Holocaust against Jews.
All this would be laughable were it not for the respect the media accords this man’s reckless and defamatory statements. We deeply regret that this newspaper has opened its pages to such an extremist as Hussein Ibish.
Daniel Pipes and Robert Spencer
I really love you guys. You use you tounge prettier than a twenty-dollar whore. Untill we have these terrorist under control, watch your ass & watch the jihadis....
Thanks for your vigilence and your eloquent analysis of the double speak flowing from one the radical Islamist's apologists who seems to have somehow gained some mainstream traction here at home.
I fear that we still, as a nation, largely do not appreciate who it is we are at war with.
If this is the same Hussien Ibish that I've heard pop off at the mouth on MSNBC and FOX News, perhaps a weight reduction program would be appropriate to reduce the fat surrounding his brain in an attempt to obtain a more clear, rational thought process. I've seen his chins gyrate far too many times.
No, I don't like him. No, I don't respect him. He is simply another walking, talking diversion tactic, who has no respect for Americans, Unless of course, they think the same way he does. Jingoistic is an understatement when describing Mr. Ibish, if that is indeed his given name.
D.C. Watson
Pipes and Spencer should immediately launch a defamation suit against Ibish. The civil action would permit Spencer and Pipes to publicly grill Ibish through examinations for discovery/depositions, and would immediately cause the mainstram media to dump him in his capacity as a defendant in a very ugly, very public defamation action. Ibish' vicious Jew-hating would be exposed, and we'd never see him in mainstream media again.
Due to the reach of the internet, presumably on which this article is/was posted, I suspect that American civil procedure would permit the action to be launched in any State in which Pipes and/or Spencer reside. Seek nominal ($1) damages, but put Ibish to the most expense and public scrutiny as the action winds its way through the Courts. Let the US civil justice system act as the medium by which this hatred is exposed. I'd bet it would not be difficult to get an experienced litigator to take this file on pro bono.
Ibish is such a whiner!
Oh my god, how can anyone stand to listen to him whine for more than 5 mins.
Mr. Spencer, be careful, you might make him cry. ;-)
D.C. Watson--lol, yeah, if thats his real name, you know his real name is Brian or something.lol
(that is the perfect comment you made, because he is such a poser)
I suggest Pipes and Spencer get a good Jewish lawyer and sue Ibsih for defamation and slander. At least it's nice to know where some of the 7 billion the Wahabi's have spent to influence our culture is going.
I agree completely with Hal. Take this dolt to court and let the Wahhabi money be spent defending one of their minions!
so gross!

Robert, I just think that the work you do is fantastic. I read your pages daily and always learn from and use what I read on your site. Thank you for all of your dedication. Steven
Outstanding.. keep pumping out the water of truth. We get to see all the rats try to get to high ground and are exposes for what they are.
The funny thing about Ibish--in my opinion, and while acknowledging that this is just an outright assertion--is that for a Wahabbi apologist he sure does seem to be a bit light in the ol' loafers, and in fact just the sort to be stoned to death if he actually lived in one of those hellholes.
Mr.Spencer, yours is an outstanding work and may God bless you for your courage of speaking the truth in this crazy, suicidal politically corect society.
I read your pages daily, keep up the good work and i just wish there were many more like you out there.
I also wonder what could the rest of us do about this plague that you are exposing on your website?!
I love you too Robert. Keep up the EXCELLENT work. Of the 300 plus emails I receive each day, I read each and every one of yours- and look forward to them. Thanks for all you do. Also, your book was one of the best I've read in years. THANKS!
Congratulations, gentlemen, it would appear that your labors as truth-bearers are bearing fruit!
Do I detect just a little anxiety in Ibish' comments?
A senior Japanese officer said he was afraid that the attack on Pearl Harbor had awakened a sleeping giant.
Gentlemen, I do believe that your efforts have penetrated the "PC Wall" and that little by little, the Sleeping Giant is awakening.
Hang in there, everyone, and keep up the good work! Tell your relatives and friends! Write your congressmen! Tell everyone you can about Robert, Daniel, et al. Find other resources and let us know about them! When you find something helpful, let Robert know!
PC has all but flattened our learning curve, but if we keep at it, we will reach "critical mass!"
Ditto to Free Press and the opportunity to hear from all sides! As an educator I share the comments and articles here to my student..and hope all of us will do the same! Lets educate the public!
--and if anyone has a website quote of the AP article describing the recent hajj at Mecca, and how the "high muslim priest" called for the "killing of all zionists", I would like to get a copy. This would seem to prove that mainstream Muslim, and its teachings, counter their "prophet" Moses and the 10 commandments (Murder)- all part of the Qur-an, Torah, and Old testament.
I'm stating
with facts and just not opinions that the CNP, Pat Robertson
especially, are aiding terrorists worldwide.
The late 70's, this is when Intolerant Islamic Fundamentalism and
Islamic Terrorism started to take root in the Middle East - There is
no doubt that is some way the US helped Osama bin Laden. What most
people don't know is that Robertson and the Christian Coalition told
US Congress to support the "Freedom Fighters" in Afghanistan. This
allowed support for bin Laden and no doubt gave him the weapons and
supplies to start his campaign of Terrorism. Some might say that how
could we know bin Laden would become a Terrorist. The reply could be
that we already knew bin Laden hated America, and this won't be the
last time Robertson has helped Terrorism.
The 80's, the Contra Scandal - Once again, the CNP members were
caught helping Terrorists, Iran, a hotbed for fundamentalism was
involved. The arms sent to Iran probably weren't used just for the
war with Iraq and to appease Iran to release the Hostages. Iran then
most likely gave them to terrorists after the war, Iran helps Islamic
Terrorists, so this is not a far-fetched possibility. Robertson and
Paul Weyrich(CNP) were found out to be helping the Contras, Robertson
said he was doing it for Humanitarian work down there, but however it
was found out that it was in fact going to the Contras. All this work
was illegal and it was found out. Oliver North(another CNP member)
took the fall for the Reagan Administration.
1998 - 2003, Charles Taylor - Pat Robertson started a friendship with
a Mass Murderer, Charles Taylor, also known as the former dictator of
Liberia(stepped down in 2003, which Robertson protested). Robertson
had his company Freedom Gold Ltd. mine Liberia and give some of the
profits directly to Taylor. Al Qaeda however was also in Liberia, in
sanctuary thanks to Taylor. If you thought that was bad it gets
better, Al Qaeda also got money from the diamond mines in Liberia.
