In the bad old days you had to go around to the back door if you were of the wrong race. In the new Islamic order — here in the United States already, at least in this mosque in West Virginia — you have to go around to the back if you're the wrong gender. This is a manifestation of the same law that oppresses non-Muslim dhimmis. But one Muslim woman is fighting back. This from AP, with thanks to Andy Bannister:
A woman is trying to break a gender barrier -- in her West Virginia mosque.Asra Nomani is filing a discrimination complaint against a mosque that asks women to enter by a side door. The Morgantown congregation also separates men and women during prayer services.
Three months ago, Nomani, her mother and niece entered the mosque through the front door and began praying in the main room.
Nomani claims the men then broke off the service and tried to intimidate her into leaving. She and her father -- a mosque board member -- have complained to police.
The mosque board plans to meet soon on the situation, but will give no other comment.
The dispute comes as research indicates more U-S mosques are separating men and women during prayer.
Pretty soon more and more clerics will demand that boys and girls be separated in schools, and that Sharia law be institued "voluntarily" as it is Canada which, by civil statue, must be government enforced. We can't allow this precedent to be set in the United States.
As there is separation of church and state, she probably won't be able to anything about her plight in the mosque, but we must be ever vigilant of anything that even smells like Islamization of modernity of our mainstream culture.
Does anyone see the comical irony in this situation? This woman has to rely on "kaffir" law to address her discrimination issues because the "perfect" sharia law wouldn't.
Ughh, cluebat calling, lady. Maybe that should tell you something?
This problem of separating the sexes in mosques is relatively recent - previously in the USA in many mosques, the women could come and go easily - just as the men could - thanks to Western influence, no doubt!
But unfortunately for these muslim women used to the freedom which the West accords them, these believing "Islam means peace" women are now coming face to face to the beginning of the gradual implementation of Sharia (thanks to the Saudi influence in US mosques)which demonstrates the harshness, the vileness and the horridly hedious truth of Islam and its hatefilled view of women: women are not viewed as equals in Islam. End of discussion.
This poor woman and others like her - is barking up the wrong tree - all she has to do is read the Quran and Hadiths to see how women are viewed in Islam or listen to the hate filled filth heard in mosques all over the world- it does not take a rocket scientist to see the utter hate, contempt and disrespect Islam has for ALL women - muslim and non-muslim.
I am completely baffled when women convert, especially Western women, (or revert according to the Muslim view) to Islam saying that they now feel truly liberated! Some appear to view the fact that a woman must have male approval for anything as being "quaint" because in the USA, for the most part, these women can get around it, but how would these women manage in Saudia Arabia where they can be imprisoned in the home until their death and these women have no right to complain?!

There was another case recently where a Muslim school principal (female) of a Muslim school in Southern California is suing the school's directors for sex discrimination and racism (she's black).
Yet another candidate for a cluebat. And yet another woman who has to defend on "kaffir" laws for justice instead of the "perfect" sharia.
I believe that the woman in California does have a good reason with "racism" - look at what is presently occuring in the Sudan - the Arab Muslims are killing the African (black) Muslims - ethnic cleansing a la Islam! One must remember that the Arab Muslim is clearly presented at the superior race by Mohammed, so non-Arab Muslim converts are deemed inferior to their Arab Muslim brothers...so much for the equality of believers in the Muslim faith!

Agreed, Jihan. But actually, in this particular case, the school administrators were Pakistani, not Arab.
Thanks for the info Susan.
Perhaps a racist issue due to her being "black" and not "brown"?

Am I missing something? Why is this an issue for the civil authorities? Is the mosque in a building rented from a government entity? (Even with that, I would ask the same question.)
This is the opposite side of the coin whose face is the multi-culti ROP head-in-the-sand you-must-be-a-bigot-if-you-call-Islam-violent claptrap. It's symptomatic of the Islamic philosophical impotence that precludes internal reform.
Imagine - local government steps in, and these whining freaks have a brand new issue with which to blame external forces for their "oppression." Can you imagine a Jewish woman taking a synagogue to court because her synagogue requires separate seating? As a Jew, I hope the case would be laughed out of court. As an American, I hope this one is, also.

A Loyal Lizardoid Minion
Precedent, it sets a precedent, a toehold, the first baby step toward sharia law coming to the United States. Discrimination in private settings should be publicized so that people see what they are getting into. If this woman decides to leave Islam because of this issue, could she, through the application of Sharia law, through a fatwa issued by a radical cleric, even though illegal, find herself conveniently dead? Honor killings occur even in the United States. People are terrorized into silence, and litte girls are genitally multilated, on the sly, even in the United States. If you want to become a Muslim, go into this religious, totalitarian system with your eyes wide open to the possibilities of discrimination and violence that could befall you, even in the United States.
EPQ, Jihan, et.al. --
There is a lot more to Asra Nomani than meets the media. My family and I cultivated a friendship with hers. We've been ministering to her and her family through this struggle of theirs.
The core problem is the lack of knowledge inherent with Wahhabi Islamic doctrine, and the hypocritical contradictions it breeds. It's like what Jesus Christ often confronted dealing with the Sadducees and Pharisees -- called "Jahiliya" in Islamic circles.
If you really want to know who Asra is like, fetch a Bible and read Luke 7:36-50, Luke 15:11-32, John 4 and John 8:1-12. This is required reading even for Muslims (Qur'an 2:85, 2:174-177, 40:70-76 among others), but is actively suppressed in Wahhabi strongholds. Asra needs your mercy more than your ill-informed prejudice. Please pray that her quest for righteousness succeeds.
The Peace of Christ be with you.

While I agree with you that Islam presents a special and unprecedented threat to our way of life, we cannot legislate or apply discrimination law to private religious practice. Let's not divert our resources from the real dangers - like the honor killing you rightly mention as an example of Islamic backwardness and criminality.
DSE's protestations notwithstanding, this woman made her bed; now let her lie in it without wasting government resources for the purpose of rectifying her own philosophical and spiritual mistakes. She joined a religion whose practices are anathema to her? Fine. Let her leave it.
I would have no compunction using law enforcement to protect her from her former co-religionists, if it came to that, but it should be inconceivable to Americans that religious behavior inside a mosque, church, synagogue or sylvan Druid grove should be regulated. And no, I'm not advocating hands-off for human sacrifice, child abuse, forced polygamy (I'm struggling with the voluntary form), etc.
I read about Asra Nomani in a newspaper article recently. I do believe that America will change the face of islam. It will once again be a religion based on Allah's doctrine verses man made laws and rules. Mosques are too often ruled by men, and women treated as cattle. Some women seem to believe that being treated as cattle is a good thing, I disagree. May Allah give all those who fight injustices courage, strength and mercy.
Amen
Ridiculous. It isn't separation. It is the custom and the way it is. If they don't want to abide by the rules, they should go somewhere else where they can enter by the door they want. Each Masjid has its own way. Same as if people join a Christian church. Differect sects have different rules, abide by them or change! It is 'stupid' to pull this "sueing" crap, because you can't submit to authority. Same problem with the bratty teenagers these days, who don't get their way so their parents teach them to "sue" . If they want to make a big deal of it then maybe their next big lawsuit can be to "sue" somebody because they can't use the men's bathroom LOLOLOL These people should follow form or leave, it's that simple! Get a life!
wether it is mosque, synagogue or church they have their own rules and regulations...
either follow their law or find another place.
you are making big deal out of it.
does she realy seek religious services or has her own agenda?
com'on either take it or leave it...don't disturb others.
Take it or leave it?
Okay.
I'll stop disturbing others when Moslems stop oppressing women. They're trying to bring their hatred of women to America --thats what this article is about. In America there used to be laws in the south forcing blacks to go in the back door while whites went in the front. Things like that. They were stopped in the name of justice, and this should be too.
