A new al-Qaeda manual posted on the Internet is calling for terrorist attacks against Canadians, and specifies that businessmen, politicians, scientists, soldiers and tourists should be targeted, according to U.S. researchers.Canada is one of six nations whose citizens are identified as "human targets" in the Arabic-language publication, which is reported to be the work of senior Egyptian al-Qaeda figure Saif al-Adel.
The manual, called The Al-Battar Military Camp, ranks Canadians as the fifth most important "Christian" terrorist targets, behind Americans, Britons, Spaniards and Australians. Italians were ranked sixth.
The manual was obtained and translated by the SITE Institute, a terrorism research centre in Washington, D.C. It is the latest edition of a publication that is said to be aimed at new al-Qaeda adherents scattered around the world.
"This al-Qaeda magazine is published and circulated through the terrorist group's Web site, along with other propaganda," Rita Katz, executive director of the institute, told the National Post yesterday.
"It contains specific military guidance and instructions on how to effectively target al- Qaeda's enemies. There are physical training programs, diagrams of weapons and chapters dedicated to combat strategy. Canadians should take very seriously the fact that their country is identified as a top potential target by al-Qaeda."
As a Canadian, I'd like to come right out and say that I think the Canadian military and security services are a farce, so Americans who want to disparage them can save themselves the trouble. :)
I can only hope that in the event of an Islamic terrorist strike on Canadian soil, that loyal Canadians, Muslim or not, will have the much-needed epiphany and begin taking these threats seriously. When people like the Khadr family are left free to roam and wreak global mayhem, I can only feel ashamed at my pathetically ignorant countrymen.
However, that said, I don't necessarily support President Bush or the prevailing American domestic and foreign policies. I don't feel strongly about Mr. Kerry, either. What I feel is important is reducing or eliminating the West's reliance on Arab oil resources, beginning a dialogue with sincere, liberal Muslims, fighting Islamism physically and ideologically, and perhaps most importantly, abandoning the politically correct bullsh!t rhetoric and coming to grips with reality.
I have the utmost respect for people like Ibn Warraq, Irshad Manji, and the other liberal or secular Muslims who criticize Islam's obvious failings while remaining level-headed, tolerant, and intelligent. To other Muslims in the West, I say: Recognize that secular democracy is the form of government which has allowed you here and granted you so many of the freedoms you enjoy. Support this government. If you want a Khalifah, go to one of the Islamic "paradises" in the Middle-East and see what military theocracies get you.
Yes, they should take this seriously. And take the appropriate measures to eliminate the threat. For one, they could start raids on the mosques. Anyone caught preaching hate should be taken to the airport that day, and sent away.
There are many other measures that can be taken as well. I think some of us already know what they are.

However, my readings on Islam suggest that Helen is technically correct- a muslim's first duty is to the ummah. That said, a recent British poll of muslims suggest that an astonishing, alarming 13% of UK muslims support radicalized Islam- leaving some 87% that may be susceptible to some form of "lapsed" islamic adherence. But, recognizing the direct, existential threat to the West posed by radicalized islam, I do not believe that we have the luxury of simply letting the Irshad Manji's of the muslim world chatter on about iftihad.

I have heard far too many people suggest that he should have gone into Saudi Arabia instead of Iraq which I don't believe is a well thought out answer but often seems to be the root for why some feel Bush is inefficient yet Kerry would somehow do better?
Every country calls for a different solution and until the West is ever less dependant on Oil, marching into Saudi Arabia would have made the OPEC crisis of the 1970's a mere hiccup in comparison.
Should Kerry get in, not only will it signal to AQ and trademark groups that the west is as weak as they always claimed it to be, but terrorism will take a back seat, no matter his claims today in order to get elected.
The UN and International Community is and always has been inefficient and that is the old tired route Kerry would take.

Yes, I do perfectly understand the need for immigrants here in Canada but right now, today, I would be limiting the numbers of Muslims, especially those from source country's, and of a certain age group.
Unfortunately we are left wide open due to the policies of our present Liberal Government whose goal it is to win at all costs, which they partly achieve by allowing far too many immigrants in to Canada that are questionable to begin with.
I say, far better checks are needed and any that are found to have Islamic ideals should be deported immediately.
The government doesn't seem to have any problems with deporting criminals back to Jamaica, even those who came here as young children and don't have any family back at home, nor remember their birth country.
The same should be done with any Muslims who cannot abide by our secular liberal way of life!

In such a sexually frustrated state...there is no out, especially in a highly politically charged climate, but to strap on bombs (the sign of a pseudo penis), and go out in a giant "climax" of an explosion. One such Egyptian psychiatrist on Al Jazeera TV actually recommended suicide bombings and compared it to the greatest "orgasm" a young man could have.
Therefore, such frustrated young Moslem men confuse "sex and death," with paradise and the reward of the proverbial 72 Virgins for murdering Westerners. Islam is not a healthy religious "cult" designed for "internal peace, but was designed by Mohammad as vehicle of control. Whereas, other religions create internal "peace," Islam creates tension, and focuses and directs that tension on the "enemy" in the acquisition of land and territories.
Islam and especially the finer points of the Koran needs to be examined by psychological inquiry...and social and political scientists, if it is to be understood and defeated.

The "Sex and Death" Cult of Al Qaeda, especially mimics animal studies, where animals began to commit "warfare" on themselves and other innocent animals they previously lived in harmony with...in areas where there is an "overpopulation problem." Mother animals begin to eat their young or not nurture them; fathers commit infanticide, and many other organ studies show abnormalities, and higher mortality rates when such animals are over overpopulating areas...even when there is adequate food and shelter available.
(The Moslems and Arab populations in Israel alone are averaging 11 children per family and will overrun the voting Jewish population by 2040.)
Thus, Moslems and Arabs, previously nomadic, maybe showing signs of great psychological stresses, simply because of overbreeding and living in dense city life, which they were not use to, and simply put...they cannot adjust.
Therefore, what may appear to be a "political" problem, is no more than a sociobiological, or psychobiology problem in origin.
The solution? Put them out of their misery, and ship them back to the deserts where they came from.

very interesting points, judy. many serial killers also confuse the thrill of sex with the act of murder -- it seems to be a very dangerous psychological route for the mind to take. i also agree with your sociobiological assessments. typical sociobiological forces are tuned for species preservation. the culture of death reverses this and in seeking the death of their own species (other humans) they use the method of killing themselves as well. edward o. wilson should be shocked. these sociobiological constructs may also be applicable to the issue of abortion come to think of it.
E.O. Wilson would probably not be shocked, since sociobiological behavior is, indeed, geared towards species preservation, but not individual preservation. When a population is so large that it overwhelms available resources, the process of population reduction begins, and it continues until the available resources can support the population.
In the West, we increase productivity; under Islam, that is not possible because their theology forbids it. When your moral code tells you that it is immoral to do what is necessary to be productive, you are in trouble.
Here are a few items you might find interesting (I've listed them recently in another posting, but I can't remember which one):
1) In the Arab world, MEMRI contends that the illiteracy rate, often said to be 50%, is actually 80%.
2) The number of books per person in Europe is 10 times the number of books per person in Africa and the Middle East combined.
3) The number of books translated into Arabic in the last one thousand (1000) years is equal to the number of books translated into Spanish in one (1) year.
4) Between 1980 and 1999, the number of patents from Arab countries in the United States was 370. During that same time period, the number of patents from South Korea alone was 16,328.
5) In the Arab world, the number of computers per 1000 people is 18. The number of computers per person world wide, including poor nations, is 78 per 1000 people.
6) At the Google headquarters in Silicon Valley, there is a large map with lights that show the number of searches going on at any given time. The world is bright except for the region stretching from Morocco to the border of India, which is all but dark.
7) At Davos, the outsourcing of high-tech jobs is discussed; India, Mexico, and China are mentioned, but not a single mention of any country in the Arab world is made. None has the infrastructure, productivity, or educational system that can support such jobs.
Face it folks, these people are prisoners of their own moral code, which is incompatible with human life, theirs or ours.

thanks, cubed, good points. i still cannot comprehend, though, how the sociobiological perspective would not accommodate options available to the islam population. according to darwin, gould, wilson, and the rest of the gang, a distressed population survives through adapting to change in one way or another. since it is inconceivable that the islamic population would entertain a sudden mutation shift (for instance acquiring invisibility as a trait or being born with AK-47's as arms), it seems that their choices are to adapt their culture or to try and outbreed the rest of us. it seems they have chosen the latter strategy.
This is more USA propaganda trying to inspire fear into Canadian's life's. Look at the US population. Most of them are living in fear of attack, poisoning, and in some states some people will get arrested just for being outside too late in the evening. CAIR (Council of American Islamic Relations) is one of the worst enemies to freedom. They claim that they are a civil rights organization but they are really only a front to terrorist organizations. Some of their directors have already been arrested on terrorism charges. Their website has alerts for members to take action like write letters and send e-mails to who they disagree with and even attack and try to get fired. Islam is not really a religion, it is a perversion and militant Islam is really a hard core political party. Our governments try to be politically correct a let the fanatics have a free ride at the expense of every one els's freedom. They demand rights but scream bloody murder when we take a hard look at them. They demand rights to put up their mosques in
Candada and America but they do not allow church's to be built in their countries. Are their belif's really so fragile that they have to kill a believer who wants to convert from Islam to a different religion? We give them freedom and rights only at our own expense and peril. If they hate us and our governments and our coutries so much then why dont they just go back to one of the backward countries where they came from? The reason is because they are a cancer within our societies and they can do more damage to us by being here and preaching hate. While that is indeed the case, it is no accident that only Islam has given rise to a global network of terrorists today. While Christianity has no developed theology or legal system enjoining violence against unbelievers, Islam does. I challenge anyone to prove that statement incorrect in either of its assertions.
Also, once again, this is not a problem of "race." Islam is not a race. Jihad is not a race. The jihadist ideology and those who practice it would kill or subjugate non-Muslims worldwide without regard to their race, religion, or level of contempt for Christianity.
