Their favorite villain
Michelle Malkin has a good take on the vilification of John Ashcroft. Malkin points out that the jihad is ongoing in America, as I do in my own column today. (And I'm speaking tonight at the Middle East Forum in Boston on the same thing.) And she points out that despite the howls and protests of civil rights activists and American Muslim advocacy groups, again and again the people Ashcroft has targeted have turned out to be guilty.
Those oh-so-compassionate liberals could hardly contain their glee upon hearing the news that Attorney General John Ashcroft is suffering from a severe case of gallstone pancreatitis."He has it coming. He is utterly sub-human and evil. Suffer, bastard," gloated an Internet user on the DemocraticUnderground.com Web site. "(T)he world would be better off without him," responded another writer on the forum. "I hope he is in the most severe pain a human being can suffer, and after that, I hope he remains in constant pain with no hope of relief," chimed in yet another bleeding-heart Democrat. Out in Hollywood, comedian Bill Maher echoed these unsparing sentiments during his HBO talk show monologue, speculating that Ashcroft contracted his unimaginably painful and potentially deadly illness from "wiping his (expletive) with the Bill of Rights." The audience roared with laughter.
It is not the incivility of the Ashcroft-haters that galls me. It is the unmitigated insipidity and apathy they display toward what this man and his department have done to protect their right to be free, safe and stupid.
On the day he was admitted to the hospital last week, for example, Ashcroft was scheduled to speak at a Justice Department news conference. He was set to announce the convictions of three jihadists who trained in Virginia on behalf of the Taliban and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LET), a Pakistani terrorist group. The defendants spun their usual "woe-is-me/Islam is a Religion of Peace/I'm an innocent victim of racial profiling" tales for their tearful relatives and a sympathetic media. But the Justice Department didn't buy their stories. And neither did U.S. District Judge Leonie Brinkema, a Clinton appointee, who blasted the terror cell members' cover stories for traveling abroad to wage holy war as "incredible" and "simply implausible."
Masoud Ahmad Khan, 32, of Gaithersburg, Md., was convicted on eight counts: conspiracy; conspiracy to levy war against the United States; providing support to the Taliban; conspiracy to provide support to LET; firearms conspiracy; and three counts of use of firearms in connection with a crime of violence.
Former Marine Seifullah Chapman, 32, of Alexandria, Va., was convicted of conspiring to provide material support to LET; conspiracy; firearms conspiracy; possession of firearms in connection with a crime of violence; and use of a firearm in connection with a crime of violence.
And Hammad Abdur-Raheem, 35, of Falls Church, Va., was convicted of conspiring to provide material support to LET; conspiracy; and firearms conspiracy.
(By the way, where are all the gun controllers to praise the Justice Department for pursuing strict enforcement of their laws? Hmm? They must be out to lunch with all the moderate Muslim leaders getting ready to praise Ashcroft for going after fanatical extremists who give their religion a bad name. Right?)
The media elite belittled the Ashcroft prosecutions of these Islamists because they practiced on a paintball field. But brushing off these warriors as "paintball terrorists" would be as irresponsible as shrugging off the Sept. 11 hijackers as "video game terrorists" because they trained for their murderous missions on flight simulator software. "For the defendants and their co-conspirators," Judge Brinkema wrote, "these games were viewed as not just an opportunity for outdoor exercise, fellowship and an opportunity to improve self-defense skills, but also as preparation for real combat."
Every single time Ashcroft has brought charges against jihadists in America, he has been mocked and vilified. Every single time he has tightened the screws on Islamic terror recruitment and financing, he has been lambasted as a racist. Every single time they have been arrested, the defendants have proclaimed their absolute innocence. And each time Ashcroft has won convictions against them -- neutralizing terror cells in Lackawanna, N.Y., Portland, Detroit, and now northern Virginia -- he has been met with more condemnation and derision.
John Ashcroft has nobly taken on the grueling job of protecting a nation of ingrates who take joy in his illness while terrorists continue to plot to kill us all. God bless you, Attorney General, and get well soon. America, land of the free and home of the thankless, needs you back.
There are those who take this beautiful protected bubble we call America for granite and I defend the right for them to do so. People like Bill Maher represent a said commentary on what is wrong with America, He and others like him simply refuse to confront the realities of the world we are living in. I`ve been a volunteer deputy sheriff for over 27 years and what keeps me going is that opportunity and challenge to make a difference in protecting someone from harms way. I cannot thank Attorney General John Ashcroft enough for the efforts he and his good offices are performing to protect this great country from enemies within. If you believe that "the patriot Act" is a good tool to combat those who would do us harm then be sure to write your congressman to keep it in place. By the way; what volunteer work does Bill Maher do to help make his community safer and better--- Oh thats right! he insults our attorney general.
CAIR doesn't like the Patriot Act, which is all the more reason to keep it in place.
D.C.
As usual, the supposedly compassionate liberals show themselves to be wild-eyed, frothing at the mouth maniacs. Quick to paint themselves as tolerant, they even more quickly descend into the most vile, intolerant hate speech imaginable. Ask an enraged Ashcroft-hater what freedoms they have lost under the Patriot Act. I have, and not one has ever been able to answer. Mostly, they just stare blankly, and stutter.
On a related note, there was a massacre of civilians today in a Madrid train station. Could a European Patriot Act have saved these hundreds of people? We will never know.
By the way, does anyone know if Joey rides the train in Spain? (A top Basque politician, Arnold Otegi, denied the separatists were behind the blasts and blamed "Arab resistance." Many al-Qaida-linked terrorists were captured in Spain or were believed to have operated from there.)
If Joey shows up, ask him if he still thinks Americans are scared of shadows, and if Europe is still feeling tolerant toward those oppressed Arabs.
what do you people hope to achieve? The current modern day bible ie the King James Version(wriiten by someone who had sex with his own mother), contains many references to pornography. i.e read Ezeikiel. How can that be the word of God?
so.... its bad to hate ashcroft but good to hate janet reno... you know all the garbage about her looking like a lesbian,man,etc... that was just good fun
conservatives are real hypocrites
i wonder if the people at waco had been "jihadists"
if the conservative element would have approved of the fire
another thing "bush bashing" how is this any different then all the vile and terrible things said about clinton during his term in office
that was a little off subject but its the same thing
Umar,
What are you talking about? You are off-topic, and possibly off your meds as well. Why the fixation with deviant sexual relations, is it a cry for help? By the way, were you near any train stations in Madrid this morning?
Joey,
I see you missed the train in Madrid this morning. Interesting that you bring up Waco, since Reno and Clinton had all those women and children burned up. And I don't remember anyone wishing a painful, horrible death on her, as the Ashcroft-haters dream. Cheers Joey, and be careful riding the train in Spain.
Umar, you really need to think for yourself and stop swallowing all the lies your mullahs tell you. It would help if you get your facts straight before you open your mouth and make a fool out of yourself again. Also try to stay on the original topic. This thread was about Ashcroft, not he Bible. But since you asked.....There are many translations of the bible, FYI. In addition to the King James there is the New King James Version (NKJV), there is the New International Version (NIV), the Living Bible, the Amplified Bible, the New Living Translation, The Message, the New Life Version, English Standard Version, Contemporary English VErsion, 21st Century King James Version, American Standard Version, Young's Literal Translation, etc. King James did not translate the original manuscripts himself but had a team of scholars do it. Ezekiel was an Old Testament prophet of God who fulfilled God's requirement of what constitutes a true prophet as outlined in Deuteronomy chapter 18, verses 20-22. He was a captive who was taken into exile in Babylon in 597 B.C. He prophesied the destruction of Babylon. Now what part of Ezekiel would you like me to explain to you?
Umar,
I have been waiting for you.
Since you seem to have a good working knowledge of the Quran. I would like to trade verse for verse with you. Your Quran and my Bible. We will compare absolute truth in the two texts.
If you are up for this. Feel free to pic a topic.
Robert,
I respect you and your site very much. I use to spend my days on LGF but have been on your site since the day you went active I believe. Now I spend most of my time here when not working. It is amazing how much it has grown. It is nice to see the same faces everyday. I enjoy the posting of most who come and look forward to hearing their views on the topics. Are you satisfied with the group of indiduals you have as regulars? Do you feel we are to radical or would you wish for us to tone it down some?
you input would be nice.
Thanks,
Steve
Umie, I left you a post to read on another article. It's about boys in Sudan being raped by your Muslim chums.......read on, let me know what you think.
It's really sad, as these kids have been ruined, but not at all surprising. Look to your own cult for faulty wiring before you berate people of other faiths.
That's the problem with extreme Muslims, they will never admit to any wrong doings. You are not respected in the world, and this is one of the reasons why. Instead of scolding your own, you seek a way to justify their actions, or simply deny them. Poor, poor under priveledged, abused, overlooked, misguided Islamists....
You all should've been actors, playing the victims on a continual basis.....This routine has grown old.....long ago. Stop whining and correct your own problems, and then the world will live in peace....
Part of the reason they hate him is because he is effective. Many of them are on the other side; they want us to lose.
Dear Umar,
Hadith by Bukhari
Volume 1, Book 6, Number 299:
Narrated 'Abdur-Rahman bin Al-Aswad:
(on the authority of his father) 'Aisha said: "Whenever Allah's Apostle wanted to fondle anyone of us during her periods (menses), he used to order her to put on an Izar and start fondling her." 'Aisha added, "None of you could control his sexual desires as the Prophet could."
How can that be the word of God??
wait a second nobody has claimed responsibilty for the madrid bombings. it could be islamic or it coule be eta seperatists nobody knows yet.
Joey,
What difference would it make to you, or the victims? I personally believe ETA would be very stupid to do this before an election, when it will certainly push people into voting for conservatives. But even if it were ETA, are you saying that this behavior is acceptable, because they are not Islamists? How curiously tolerant, but then maybe your family doesn't ride the trains in Spain.
I don't say things like that about anyone, and I mean that. The remarks from the DU site are unacceptable coming from a human being. Who are these people, and how can I stay far, far away from them?
Criminy, how would these folks feel if someone said he or she hoped the poster's kid died a horrible, lingering death?
Umar, let's have a go at it, shall we?
You said:
"what do you people hope to achieve?"
Publishing and disseminating the truth. What do you hope to achieve?
"The current modern day bible ie the King James Version(wriiten by someone who had sex with his own mother)"
The KJV is *not* the current, modern-day Bible. It was translated in the 1600's. It has since been supplanted by more accurate translations, as more source material has become available. That's why there's a NKJV, for instance. With that said, the KJV is still used because of the power of its prose.
"contains many references to pornography. i.e read Ezeikiel. How can that be the word of God?"
You would expect the Bible to not mention porn? As if God would leave us on our own without advice on this topic! Please. It is also a fallacy to say "because A mentions B, A must be bad". It's only when A endorses B that there is a problem.
Umar -
Just to reiterate - King James (I assume you mean him, not his corps of translators) couldn't possibly have had sex with his mother, since the last time he and she would have been in the same country would have been when he was about 2 years old. Don't make yourself look quite this silly.
Joseph, let's discuss.
You said:
"so.... its bad to hate ashcroft but good to hate janet reno... you know all the garbage about her looking like a lesbian,man,etc... that was just good fun"
> I can't speak for others, but it's no crime to say that Reno isn't a particularly attractive woman to me. So I wouldn't date her. But maybe someone else would. To each his or her own. But that's not the point (and you know this, I suspect.) Her policies are the real issue.
i wonder if the people at waco had been "jihadists"
if the conservative element would have approved of the fire
> Do you even know what a jihadist is? I suggest you do some research. It's not the boogeyman or a will-o-the-wisp. And just how many of jihadists are American citizens, hmm? I'm waiting for your answer.
another thing "bush bashing" how is this any different then all the vile and terrible things said about clinton during his term in office
> There wasn't any need to say vile and terrible things about Clinton -- his behavior did all the work for us. If you find the words "adulterer" "fornicator" "liar" or "traitor" to be vile, then you shouldn't support people who do those things!
Bravo Nathan... that was beautiful!
If the islamists are found to be responcible for the terrible tragidy in Madrid...I say warm up the Missle Silos and turn Mecca and Medina into a glass factory. It's time to stop messin' around. Maybe we need to think about wiping out a generation or two of these animals to create change.
Nathan -
If these people belong to the same Demo party as my mother and father, something has gone very, very wrong. God!
I have visited the site, and found it un-navigable. Or, much too cumbersome to waste time on. As for exposing the weak-minded, if not traitorous fools, I work in San Francisco. There are so many useful idiots here, I have restricted myself to explaining to 20-somethings wearing Che Guevara on their chests exactly who he was. Or the failure of logic in their anti-war slogans. Or that the whole pose of the disaffected intelligentsia/avant guard hasn't changed since (god save us) the 1860s.
There's a limit to how much I can do, so it's good to know someone is keeping up the good fight.
the point i was making in my post basil was not one was less bad then the other it was you cant rush to put the blame on anyone group or person before all the facts are known. you and most people on this site already are certain that its islamic based. and maybe it is with whats currently being said on the news but when i made my post that information was not available...
Umar, I take it you didn't read my reply to one of your posts from yesterday. Suffice it to say that--rather than repear it all here--I want to achieve (and believe the West will achieve) the complete eradication and dismantlement of all things fundamentalist islam. It'll happen, you will lose. You really only have a few options:
1) Take up arms and stand opposed. That route will of course lead to your destruction.
2) Disavow wahabbism and take a big step up onto the reality train with the rest of us.
3) If you truly believe the ravings of that madman muhammed, become a Sufist. That's the only acceptable sect of islam.
Nathan -
The Muslims think we're polytheists because of the God in Three Persons bit. On a logical level, they're right. On the other hand, Augustine was walking on the beach, meditating on the Trinity, and saw a child trying to transfer the sea into a hole in the sand. He said, "Child, you can never transfer the sea into the sand." The child turned into an angel and said, "No more can you understand the Trinity, Augustine!" Only in Latin.
So, if you believe Augustine, it's a mystery.
As is my parents' continued adherence to the Democratic Party. I (and my brother) abandoned it long ago.
SF is more another planet than the land of sinful pagans. And it's actually fairly hard to find a hard-core pagan in the City. Apathetic agnostic with a tinge of fuzzy-bunny worship just doesn't roll off the tongue with the same facility. It's a sad, sad thing when even the religion has turned insipid.
By the bye, my name is spelled with two "n's". Really. Honestly. It's even on my birth certificate. And it just makes me nuts when it's mis-spelled. Yeah, it was a case of parental malpractice, but it's my own beloved parents' parental malpractice.
Thank you John Ashcroft. May the Patriot Act be re-established to protect our beautiful United States. The hyenas have been circling for years, nipping at our flanks. Some have even managed to slip in and are gnawing away at the bone. It is time to rid ourselves of this scourge.
The United States is not only a country, it's a state of mind, and there are those that want to change the fundamental American mind set away from the shining ideal that our founding fathers imagined.
Their dreams came true. We live in true glory in this protected bubble. In the past, with few exceptions, those that came to America expected to fulfill the dream's promise. They were willing assimilate in order to maintain and enjoy that dream.
Some have claimed it is imperfect. So it is. But you will not find a better one on earth. Islamism will not perfect the dream, but destroy it. Muslims that want to join to maintain the dream can be our partners, but those that want to convert it to a twisted and perverted horror as we see in other places, should go elsewhere. You are not welcome.
