The Libyan strongman has given up terror. Some of his answers to questions from American reporters were, to say the least, intriguing. From UPI, :
Question: What impact did the Iraq war have on your decision to give up weapons of mass destructions?Answer: We made our own decision and our analysis on the current world situation, and we came to the conclusion ... that we can't ... go ahead with having these programs.
Q: So Iraq was no factor at all, then?A: We are part of the world. This is the reality of the world. This is the policy of the world.
How's that again, Colonel?
Q: As part of internal reforms, will Islamic organizations be permitted to operate?A: I would say that there isn't any justification or reason for that. The people themselves actually assume power and have the power to decide for themselves. Each one who has a word or a say or an opinion is free to do so in the People's Congress. Furthermore, we don't want to involve Allah in material affairs like infrastructure and sewage. He has nothing to do with that. We are talking about material things; we need policy for that. We need technology for infrastructure. We're talking about infrastructure — sewage, water. This is policy. God is another thing. How can we involve Allah in [such things] of daily life? We're talking about houses and electricity.
Q: The Bush administration has praised your cooperation regarding al Qaeda. Can you give us one example of what your government has done, or your intelligence agencies have done, that led to an al Qaeda arrest or foiled an al Qaeda plot?A: Terrorism is the enemy of all of us, not the enemy of America. When we fight terrorism, we do that for ourselves.
I was looking for our Jihadi friends like Ahmad, Bedoe and that punk ass Reza to chime in on this and denounce Libya for wanting to act like human beings.

Libya is another example of how to obtain the cooperation of Muslim states. It cannot be obtained in any way other than terrific pressure, pressure which in turn is felt keenly by the ruler or ruling class, and whom, to save themselves, will do what they must -- nolens-volens -- to rescue their own position, or that of their desperate country. Libya, and not Iraq, is the great success coming out of the Iraq War. The lesson to be learned is this: not to aim for "democracy" (a futile goal to achieve, but even if achieved, unlikely to have any effect on the wellbeing of Infidels unless it can be demonstrated that such "democracy" leads to a lessening of the power of Islam within a particular country -- in Iraq, the results are likely to be the opposite), but to put such pressure that Muslim rulers will have to bend. Measures should include travel bans, so that they and their people cannot any longer continue to use the Infidel West as a combination fun fair and brothel, cutting off highly-desired access to Western medical care (no Saudis in Harley Street, no Kuwaitis bringing their children to the Children's Hospital or the Lahey Clinic or the Mass. General in Boston), no foreign aid (the $60 billion already sent to Egypt has been completely wasted, and allowed the stratokleptocracy in Egypt to turn the country into a world center of anti-Americanism and, of course, antisemitism), a complete embargo on the sale of major military equipment (or the secret sabotaging of such equipment, so that it can be manipulated and destroyed from a distance) to any Arab army, and a Manhattan Project to create alternative sources of energy, whatever they may be, to the oil which provides the money which funds mosques and madrasas and military training and equipment which create, support, and outfit Jihads worldwide.
When will the country contain a sufficient number of people who understand the scope of the problem, and the need not to create in Iraq a false and indeed hopeless model, but a comprehensive and cunning plan of counterattack against the lure, and the power, of Islam -- an aggressive, hostile, and dangerous geopolitical cult, spatchcocked to some elements of worship which have entitled it to be called a "religion" -- which has become threatening to all non-Muslims everywhere, even if they still fail to recognize the common threat, or to support one another.
If Gadhafi's lips are moving, he's lying. Muslims (mainly shite) call it taqiyyah. Please see this ink:

That was my first thought too, Hal. Taqiyya!
I don't believe a word this guy says. He will "promise" (with his fingers crossed behind his back) all sorts of things. Then the sanctions will be lifted, they'll get technology—and. . . BOOM!!!
God help us. . .
Let's hope their women can read by then.
