Is it finally curtains for Mr. Jihad?

Breaking, from CNN:

Pakistani forces have surrounded what may be a "high-value" al Qaeda target in Pakistan near the border with Afghanistan, President Pervez Musharraf told CNN.

"We feel that there may be a high-value target," Musharraf told CNN. "I can't say who."

The ferociousness of their resistance indicates that the al Qaeda fighters are protecting someone particularly significant, he said.

The military asked locals to leave and is flying helicopters overhead, "pounding" the area with artillery, he said.

U.S. and Pakistani officials have said they believe al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden probably is in Pakistan near the border with Afghanistan.

ADDENDUM: It ain't Osama, it's just Zawahiri.

While politically popular and a useful re-election adjunct for GWB, OBL's capture and/or death will make little difference in our fight against the Islamist onslaught. Saudi-funded Wahhabi mosques and madrassahs assure a steady stream of mujjaheds for decades to come.

Indeed, as a "martyr", he would likely prove to be more support to radicalized Islam than as a a live, pathetic captive. After all, anyone can land a sucker punch (9/11)- but to be able to invigorate future generations of fanatics- that's quite a legacy...

I'm not so much into it making a difference whether the bonebag is caught or not, he killed 3000 people on 9-11 and just needs to be extinguished. No trial, no lawyers. Not death row, death day.

I heard the same thing as what's on the article. It's not bin Laden but his number 2. Closer and closer we go. He'll most likely surrender like Hussein did, he too is nothing but a coward.

"Oh we love death more than you Americans love life, that's why we hide in mountain caves, mud huts, and spider holes when you come to get us."

Never forgive. Never forget. I want to see a military tribunal.

Are you Orthodox basil?

All the publicity going on is a mistake. Should be nothing until (unless?) we catch whoever we're after. Otherwise, if Zawahri escapes, he's clever and we're incompetent. If we DO catch him, it'll be, "See how long the poor, outnumbered, outgunned _______ (fill in the blank) withstood the ________ (fill in the blank) forces of _______ (fill in this blank)."

hopefully he can then tell us where obl is buried or what cave his body is before anyone flames it is only my humble opinion that obl is worm food until i see positive proof of life

The war against Radical Jihad will go on because personalities aren't driving the effort. We musn't forget that "interpreations" of the Koran are the driving force, and that this war will diminish and the warriors will be temporarily held in check only when they understand that's it's not in their interest to continue. The lull could last a year, a decade, a century, or millenium, but the lull is only temporary.

DC, let's not forget the 3,000 were just the American dead. There were at east 3,000 from other nations who died that day as well. But you're right. I hope we get this dirtbag. If we find #2, OBL will be easy to find.... Zawahiri will have his nose stuck far up into Usama's butt, with his lips puckered firmly against his boss' rectum.

All Moslems read the same Koran. There are no varying interpreations in the Koran. The Koran speaks very clearly that it is the duty of all Moslems to "kill those who do not submit to Islam" in 21 ways paraphrased. This war against nonMoslems has been going on for 1400 years.

There are also many ways of warfare practiced by Moslems: Education, public relations, immigrations, breeding, drug dealing, warfare against soft targets, outright warfare, mis- and disinformation, and we are losing this war in other hemispheres. We must do as the Japanese have done, and burn them out now, where ever they are. We have so little time left.
