Jihad Watch is pleased to announce the publication of a new Indonesian edition of Jihad Watch director Robert Spencer's book Islam Unveiled. It is entitled Islam Ditelanjangi: Pertanyaan-Pertanyaan Subversif Seputar Doktrin dan Tradisi Kaum Muslim.
Thanks to publisher Paramadina and translator Mun'im A. Sirry. We applaud your courage and thank you for not caving in to intimidation and threats like the French.
Hope you're not planning to retire to the Keys on the royalties from the Indonesian edition, Robert. ;) Good for you, though- incrementally, you are trying to make a difference.
I was not aware of, but am not surprised by, the craven capitultation of your french publisher.
Thanks, Earl. I doubt I'll see any royalties at all from this edition. I am just glad it's out there. Best, RS
I don't think their Barnes and Noble will carry in stock either eh? ;)
In fact, I fear for anyone who should walk into a bookstore and ask for it.

Amazon's your friend!
I presume when this comes out, you'll start getting some emails in indonesian, from all shades of opinion.
Obviously we see what people who post on the site say to you Robert. Of the letters and Emails you get, I assume there are a few basic types. Well done from non moslems, well done by secular/moderate moslems, no you don't under stand letters, and abusive/threatening letters.
Even if the last group is small, it must be wearing on your nerves so I think it's important we thank you every so often for what you are trying to do on this site.
Cogratulations on the new book Robert.
Based on my experience in that part of the world (My pirated copy of "Brother Enemy" only cost about $5.00 in Phnom Penh), I strongly doubt Mr. Spencer will collect his due in royalties.
Nonetheless, given the SE Asian tendency for copyright piracy, Spencer might succeed beyond his wildest dreams in getting the message out!
Just a thought.
Anyone anticipating a trip to China, Cambodia, Laos or Vietnam (Malaysia or Indonesia is perhaps a little too risky) should donate their copy of "Islam Unveiled" to any one of the many bookstores frequented by foreign backpackers.
Sooner or later, pirated versions will be replacing these editions, and many backpackers who previously fancied themselves "citizens of the world" may gain a much needed perspective on how lucky they are to be Westerners.
Thank you Robert Spencer for your magnificent work in the service of truth and knowledge. Your wonderful website is a true eye opener and a fantastic source of information. The world needs men like you.

Robert, from time to time I have seen you say that you were communicating from a "secret, undisclosed location." I used to think you were kidding. If you were, maybe with the publication of the Indonesian version of your book, you ought to consider the idea seriously.
Good grief, and we thought the folks facing hungry animals in the Colosseum had it rough--take care, Robert. Live long and prosper.
Paramadina, is that publisher in any way related to Nurcholish Madjid, Robert? I heard he is a moderate muslim intellectual. Signs of hope perhaps? We need more of your kind of books, I'm sick of all the anti-American literature (written by American fifth-columnists, unfortunately) they peddle in Jakarta.
