American colonialism may not be apparent to you, but it matters to the people whose daily life is affected by what you do or plan to do in their countries like current campaigns to invade Syria.

I can't believe that you would even raise the topic of colonialism considering that Islam is attempting to colonize the entire world by rejuvenating and installing the Caliphate which would be the Mother of All Colonies. This effort has been continuously ongoing for more than a thousand years. Because it is under the umbrella of Islam, I am sure that you believe that this is the correct way for a religion to behave.

After admitting that this is the political and religous of agenda of Islamists, we then could discuss the "sins" of more recent colonies in light of the numerous recorded hyper-sins of the Islamic colonizers which were quite brutal .We could discuss the continuing brutality of those pesky Muslim colonizers that are advancing world wide Jihad. Then, we could decide which of these has the greater effect on people's lives.

Let me understand this: If Muslims kill other Muslims in the namd of Allah or Jihad, it's ok, as when Mohammed died and his nephew was murdered in the name of Allah, starting the whole Shia and Sunni thing, right? Or when Saddam invaided Kuwait and Muslim troops murdered, raped and pillaged that nation and no Muslim nation spoke out against it? Or when Saddam used poison gas against the Kurds and Iranians and no Islamic country said anything? Or when the Taliban murdered people for minor infractions of Islamic law, or let Afghani women who had no men to take their cause starve to death? if america was truly a colonizing power, we would take the land away from the people and use it ourselves. america is much better understood as a philosophical empire. unlike most other countries, we do not have historical ethnicity as a bond that ties us to the land (save the indians, of which i possess some blood). we are rather a country founded on ideas that attracted people from all over the world who preferred belonging to a philosophical state rather than a historical one. the result: in its 227 year history, america has evolved into the most powerful nation in world history. if we so desired, we could conquer and expand. what we have decided to do instead is to protect ourselves by defeating our enemies through the export of our philosophy to the suppressed populations while removing our enemies. if one wishes to not have that happen to them, then leave us alone!

I love all this talk about colonization. Stop acting as though this metaphor were real, Hoodie. It's the same deal for the vastly-overused "crusade". Can you imagine what colonization would actually involve? Do you even know what a crusade would be like? It sure wouldn't be the rather small-time effort the U.S and 30+ other countries have put forth so far. I wonder if there is something in Islam that prevents people from seeing the world the way it is. True colonization would involve wave after wave of emigrants, armed to the teeth to take and control your land in perpetuity.
