Spain PM-elect: Troops out of Iraq

ZapateroChamberlain.jpg
Zapatero and Neville Chamberlain: Peace in our time

He is trying to put a non-appeasement face on it, but it is doubtful that this will be seen by anyone as anything but appeasement: CNN (thanks to Jeffrey Imm) reports that the incoming Spanish Prime Minister, Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, is going to pull Spanish troops out of Iraq by June 30.

He says he's going to fight terrorism at home. But now Al-Qaeda has adjusted Spain's foreign policy with a bombing. Will they not be justified in thinking they can adjust her domestic policies — and religion, and culture — with a few more bombings? The greatest glories of fabled Al-Andalus may yet lie in the future.

ADDENDUM: The Spanish PM-elect is spinning his election as a referendum on Iraq. However, in the caves and highlands of Afghanistan, the Al-Qaeda leadership is not interested in the niceties of legality, disclosure and intelligence that are currently swirling in the West around the Iraq invasion. They see the war in Iraq as a jihad -- indeed, as one segment of a global jihad -- and they will not see Spain's withdrawal from Iraq as anything but a victory for jihad and confirmation that terror works.

This fact remains quite aside from all questions of the validity of the Iraq invasion. Osama bin Laden, if he is alive, and other radical Muslim terrorists will see it the same way they saw Bill Clinton's withdrawal from Somalia in the 1990s: as proof that the West is weak, unwilling to fight, and ripe for the plucking.

Stupid, stupid, stupid! Stupid dhimmi appeasers. Welcome to Eurabia. Get ready for the boot on the neck and your nose in the dirt.

What Spain did was play right into the terrorists hands. They gave in. What weaklings. They were not dedicated to the war on terror. They were just siding with the big power. We don't need a fencesitter like that.

What a shame.....all of this. Do they think that pulling out 1300 troops from Iraq is going to solve their problems with these radical swines?

It's only the beginning. This is a sad day for anyone with the spine to stand up to these nightgown wearing gypsy bombers. What a disgrace.

I thought this would prompt Spain to send more troops to Iraq, and to Afghanistan to weed the roots of terrorism out, not pull out. Again, what a shame. And I thought Spaniards had some moxie.

Cowards.... typical EURO anwers. France did it with the Germans. Spain with Jihadist. Europe is doomed.

I'm not sure which is worse: that terrorists have influenced foreign policy, or that some people think that any questioning of the "War on Terror" is to think the unthinkable. Unless we can find a middle ground between appeasement and blindly following whatever our leaders tell us, we're in trouble.

The obligation of inciting religious hatred

This Saturday's LIVE talk on Paltalk will discuss one of the greatest forgotten obligations in Islaam - Inciting religious hatred. Allaah (swt)orders the believers to hate all other religions, way of lives, creeds, doctrines and beliefs that contradict with Islaam, and one cannot be Muslim without to declare animosity and hatred towards kufr, bid'ah, shirk and nifaaq (Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Sikhism,
Buddhism, Democracy, Freedom etc.).

Date and time: 20th of March 2004, from 6pm to 7:30pm GMT
Room: LIVE - Inciting religious hatred
Speaker: Abu Muwahhid

The above sounds like some sort of forgery, but I doubt that it is.

it must be remembered that on the iraq issue it was said that up to 90% of the population of spain was against sending troops there in the first place so the govt of spain was kind of out of sync with opinion of its people and comes as no suprise that they got elected out.

one more thing D.C whats with the negative use of the term "gypsy". do you have some kind of negative bias against them. goto a country that has a large gypsy population like czech republic and you would get hurt pretty quick with that attitude.

Inciting religious hatred is clearly illegal in Britain. Why is this conference being allowed to take place?

Joey,

From what I can see. Spain is not exempt from getting attacked. Spain folded like a cheap card trick when they got hit. Sad but true. And your crack on DC... well you can say that about anyone. Go anywhere and insult the people of said area and you will get smacked down. So that was a stupid comment. Stay on subject Joey.. we are talking about Spain in this topic. Not who is going to give who a beating for name calling.

Joey, I say what I want....well, sometimes Robert has to keep me in check, but that's for the good of this site, and for my own good. However, I certainly don't answer to you.

Gypsy, gypsy, gypsy....Athiest, athiest, athiest.
As far as getting hurt pretty quickly, Unlike you, I fear no one. Nor do I fear reality, which is something else you have no concept of.

Like I told Umar the radical Islamic jackass, I wish we could have some of these discussions in person. I think you know why, now don't you Joey?

Oh, I should be careful, or I might get hurt, right?

Keep it coming Joey boy, you're one of the most entertaining little trolls I've ever encountered on this great site.

One more question for Joey: Why is bias inherently bad? I'm biased against islam, and very comfortable with that fact. It doesn't mean I treat individual muslims I meet in a bad way. But I believe islam is completely in error and, given the fact that almost 100% of terror attacks are by self-proclaimed "true" muslims, I have neither the time nor the energy to figure out which muslims I could trust as anything more than acquaintances.

By the same token, there are many biases that serve to protect one from fraud, bodily harm, etc.
It is a proven fact that many gypsies make their living by conning dupes and stealing. Does that mean all gypsies are thieves? No, but in many places the majority are. Sorry about the few that are trustworthy, but I don't have time to figure it out.

Quit trying to assume some sort of moral high ground simply because you're a cultural relativist.

Well at least ir's a good day for France. They are no longer the most pathetic country in Europe. Hey, Spaniards, who are the cheese eating surrender monkeys now?

Apologies in advance Robert...

but I hope everyone here will join me in declaring today an International Day of Mourning for the thousands that are surely to die because of what the gezpacho eating surrender monkeys have wrought.

A half a dozen bombs and the election for the government of Spain was decided. How enboldened must these Islamists be in the face of such weaknes, lack of resolve and short-sightedness. That simple act of the Spanish electorate increased the danger of terrorism around the world especially at election time. Our own in November, for one!!!

"He who would trade liberty for security deserves neither." Ben Franklin.
Now that they've seen that they can intimidate the Spaniards so easily, it's just a matter of time until they start terrorizing Spain to become a Muslim nation.

Have you heard this imbeciles speech today. Insults Bush and Blair and then goes on to explain he wants to end the deadlock in the writing of the constitution of Europe. He probably wants to insert some line about 'our Ibrahimic culture.'

D.C. are you just inherently violent?

you are threatening me with physical pain for what reason because i dont agree with what you say.

Teach your children well. Here is a site featuring that great educator Dr Seuss.

Click on 'War/domestic issues' and then on 'Appeasement"

I'm in a state of shock! I would never have believed that the Spaniards would prove to be such cowards.

Joey, never once did I threaten you with pain or violence. You must have jumped to your own conclusion, as most ignorant people tend to do.

You continue to attack anyone that speak what you disagree with. Which is okay by me, but you seem to be like many of the Muslims that come on this site, they dish it out, but can't take it.

Would I like to slap some sense into you, sure I would. However, with the remarks you make on this site, I don't conclude that you're worthy of the skin on my knuckles. Am I inherently violent?

Only with Radical Muslim murderers and purely, natural born stupid people, like you. Does this clear it up for you? Not that you have to be ignorant, it just seems that you choose to be.

Joey boy, if you attack me, or anyone else on this site with your stupidity, you can expect to be responded to in a not so politically correct fashion. Now, can we go back to the topic at hand? My pissing match with you is over.

D.C.

Your comments in "Spain PM-elect: Troops out of Iraq" find me in agreement.

I also liked the expression "Welcome to Eurabia", posted on your board.
It's not as far-fetched as it seems.

On BBC News 24 last night, I watched a debate, Dateline London, during which the "British" columnist Yasmin Alibhai-Brown said that there should be a number of European Muslims representing their views at European institutions level (sort of " of ambassadors of Eurabia", perhaps?)

I think Surrender monkeys is a name we should adopt for this site.

Although Spain is the first surrender monkey to show its cowardice in the face of evil I do not believe they will be the last.

I knew Euro Governments did not have the spine for such a fight, but I would have never guessed the people of these countries were as spineless as the ones who lead them. The vote is in and it turns out I was wrong. Cowardice is contagious. Who shall be next to fold under the threat of violence?

Today Spain and much of Europe is caught in some sort of "Groundhog's Day" movie tragedy with flickers of Neville Chamberlain appearing on the screen. Sadly, this is not a movie.

In my early days of teaching, I witnessed many a promising teacher come and go. They thought if they would be nice to the students that were bullies maybe the bullies would be nice to them and the rest of the class.

Many nations in Europe are looking to bolster their prominence in a superpowerless Europe. They feel, much as those previously mentioned well intentioned teachers, that if they are nice to Al Qaeda maybe they will be nice to them. It doesn't work that way, contrary to what many in Europe and even this country think evil does exist. It must be confronted.

I fear what Neville Chamberlain did for the start of WWII, this election in Spain could start a series of attacks in Poland, Italy etc. I hope that's where the similarities to the late 1930's ends. I fear it will not.

By the way DC... I think Joey has a crush on you. Of all the like minded posters here. He seems to have a thing for you.

Bahahaha.... sorry man.. but that cracks me up!

Gazpacho eating surrender monkeys were a slim majority, by the look of it.

Maybe a few more attacks will wake Spain up to the fact that you can't appease these people. The islamofascists hate us, and they don't care what we do, they hate us forever. I'm aware that they hate me because I'm female, educated, own property, and otherwise act like a normal, free person.

I feel painfully sorry for the Spanish who know better.

DJH,

I agree. Putting your head under the sheets in hopes that the Islamo-boogieman will not see you and eat you is denial at it's finest. unfortunately it will not save them. They have only given strength to a movement that is well on its way to consuming them. Even if we wanted to I'm not sure the United states could save them this time.

Haaa Wild Hare......I'm laughing too....that is kinda sick though....If he's indeed a male, which I'm not quite sure of, he has the wrong plumbing for me...you are a riot....thanks for the laugh, I needed one, bro LOL

Indeed, ... the Spanish voter have invited Al Qaeda to terrorize any upcoming election in Europe ... very grim days ahead ...

Ivo....at least you have some warning, so you know what needs to be done to dilute, then demolish this poison called Radical Islam Jihad.

Our thoughts are with anyone that stands up to these clowns in nightgowns.

D.C.

How will we react if/when it happens to us?

If it happens to us, the Government shouldn't stop its citizens from dispensing justice. They will, because they must, and I hate to sound like a vigilante, but the lives of my family come miles ahead of political correctness.

This facade has gone on long enough. We don't know what Muslims to trust, or if we can trust any. Their silence to terrorism is telling me that they are all in it for the Jihad, and I pray to God I'm wrong.

Guess it's time for Muslims to prove me wrong. I didn't invite a damn one of them over here, and they are visitors. If they want to stay in peace, they're going to have to start earning their piece of mind.

Bruce, I hate to say it, but I think it'd be a fairly safe bet--given the reaction of the Spanish population--that you can go ahead and remove the "if" from your "if/when" statement. I can think of few things that present a greener light to terrorists than the roll-over-on-the-belly-paws-in-the-air reaction. Combine that with the misplaced blame (it's all America's fault after all) and voila! Time for another attack on the US.

I hope to God that 3-14-04 (the date of the Spanish Election & Appeasment) doesn't become as infamous as 9-11-01. The terrorists are now like sharks in the water smelling blood. Which nations are going to make a stand and which nations are going to be pulled under?

Far from buying security with their vote, the Spanish have invited Al-Queda to use Spain as their toehold for the re-conquest of Europe. And why not? If 90% of the population of Europe is willing to trade their liberty for a false security, it won't require a hell of a lot of bombing to Talibanize the continent...I wonder if the Home of the Brave and the Land of the Free will feel very much like pulling their asses out of the fire one more time? Will they even have the strength to beg us to save them? I suspect not; more likely they'll be somewhat perturbed that their utopian reality doesn't quite match their utopian dreams, but will, nevertheless swear fealty to the Caliphate, believing that their forced conversion is just another sacrifice to be made on the altar of cultural relatavism...Cowards and fools! They deserve our respect even less than our rescue...Oh, and one last thing must be mentioned here as I don't think anyone else has...at least one man in Spain, PM Aznar, had some stones...perhaps after Malaga is captured, they'll ask him to run again, dust him off for the occasion, so to speak, as they did Churchill in 1938...

They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety -Benjamin Franklin

The bad news is not that the terrorists have manipulated Spain`s foreign policy,as much as the fact that they now KNOW they can do it again and again.
And yes, gipsy is a derrogatory term that the gipsies well deserve.
I was born in the US but i grew up in Europe and i know exactly what i`m talking about.
In Europe gipsies are a malignant group that kill, steal, black mail and destroy everything in their path.

Could those who wish to use this page to insult others or to make sweeping racist generalisations at least learn to spell. Otherwise it gives the impression that the Rude and the Racist are simply short, piggy-eyed little numbskulls with only a couple of brain cells huddling together for warmth ... and we wouldn't want to propagate any stereotypes in these discussions, would we ...

you want to put the wind up "old europe"?, how about not spending one more dollar on having us troops in germany, announce that all us troops are being withdrawn from europe and watch the germans reaction when they realise there's nothing between them and russia, and the french reaction when they realise no one is between them and germany! you could announce that the troops are to be used in the places in the world that can't afford to defend themselves or in humanitarian roles. i'd love to see europes reaction to that!

I am very sad to hear about the bombings in Spain. A friend of mine pointed out that if a violent act is occurring you bring a greater amount of controlled violence to stop the original. Like when an armed robber is in the act of robbing a store, who do we call? A man who is trained in using guns to come and stop the robber. There is a very valuable lesson in this for Spain. I am getting ready to go to Afghanistan. I was listening to Mike Savage and the web sight came up. I looked in and like a lot of what I have read. I myself am not big on rhetoric. Actions speak louder than words. We Americans are in trouble. I see that France is going to do naval exercises with China. Spain will not stand up to these Muslims. Boy o boy are we in for a world war. People have not paid attention to the lessons that history has to taught. The religion of Islam is evil to the core. I hate to say it but we being Christians, Jews, Atheists, Mormons, Hindus, Buddhists, and all other peaceful religions are and will be attacked on every front because of the book of evil. I only think that actions mean things I would ask that anyone who wants to say that I am wrong read the whole book of evil and then decide. My decision is that the religion is set up to keep anarchy running and people in fear. I will go fight these Muslims I will not be allowed to convert them, this would be politically incorrect but threw steel I will convince them not to screw with America. I will have to pray to our Lord that their soles be forgive, See if they would do that for me.

Sorry about being so long winded.

The ultimate goal of fundamental Islamists is for the entire world to be under Islamic rule. Terrorism is their method of achieving this. Not the Islam of all Muslims but their incredibly evil version of it. How do I know this? Because they said so. Over and over and over and over again.

After 911 the U.S. took care of business, and not only in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The attack in Spain altered their elections in a way that was clearly seen as a capitulation to terrorist all over the world.

Islamic terrorists go after "soft targets". This is why they kill innocent civilians, UN workers, NGO staff, women, children, reporters, aid workers, etc.... These are soft targets and soft targets are always the primary target of these cowardly Islamic terrorists.

This adds up to one thing for Islamic terrorists. Europe is a soft target. The U.S. is NOT.

Guess what that means?

Spain was already a specific target long before the war in Iraq.

In his penultimate public appearance, the late Osama bin Laden, broadcasting from his cave in the early hours of the Afghan campaign, listed among his principal grievances "the tragedy of Andalusia" – that is, the end of Muslim rule in Spain in 1492. That's 512 years ago, but the al-Qa'ida guys are in no mood to (as the Democrats used to urge Republicans in the Clinton impeachment era) "move on". After half a millennium, even Paula Jones would have thrown in the towel. But not these fellows. They're still settling scores from the 15th century. They might not get around to Johnny-come-lately grievances such as Iraq until the early 2600s.
