The jihad continues in the Philippines. From [1] AP, with thanks to Twostellas:

A homemade bomb suspected to have been planted by Muslim extremists hurt a woman passer-by on southern Jolo island Monday, but caused no other casualties or damage.

Army Brig. Gen. Alexander Yapching said the bomb was placed on a tricycle - a motorcycle taxi - parked on a downtown side street and was apparently remotely detonated.

A woman was slightly hurt, he said.

An investigation was underway, but he said he suspected the al-Qaida-linked Abu Sayyaf group, notorious for kidnappings and beheading hostages. The guerrillas are active on Jolo, a predominantly Muslim island about 940 kilometers south of Manila.

The military estimates there are about 300 guerrillas on Jolo, but says the group is largely a spent force since U.S.-trained Filipino troops dislodged the rebels from neighboring Basilan island two years ago.

Authorities said they were investigating a claim by the Abu Sayyaf that it put a suicide bomber on board a ferry that caught fire Feb. 27 in Manila Bay. More than 90 people were presumed dead.
