Before fleeing, the militants planted an Improvised Explosive Device in the SPO's house, which was later defused by the Bomb Disposal Squad.

Take out the authority figures and the population usually follows like a herd of sheep, at least that's what they hope will happen. I'm wondering if the special police officer thwarted jihad, was of a different sect, or had some other "impediment" which would cause the jihadist to target him. Nevertheless, their brutal and gruesome murder of his family was over the top. (What else is new!)
Or perhaps, average everyday people will read in the morning newspaper that yet another handful of Muslims had for some unknown reason beheaded themselves during the night. And nobody will have seen nor heard anything at all.
Maybe any Commission set up could also be tasked to look into this phenomenon as well.
Now that is the real islamic treatment of women.
