Qaradawi
Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi has affirmed that the struggle in Chechnya is indeed a jihad, and he doesn't mean that Chechen Muslims should struggle to better themselves. Qaradawi, you may recall, is the radical cleric who has praised suicide bombing and whose endorsement was touted in an Arabic brochure by a Boston Muslim group raising funds for a new mosque — but not in the English material.
Here's Qaradawi's fatwa, from the jihadist site Kavkaz Center:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
It is the duty of every Muslim to back oppressed Muslims in all parts of the world. No doubt that Chechens fight in defense of their lands, honor and religion, and hence they are doing one of the best kinds of Jihad in the Cause of Allah.
Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi - «I think – Allah knows best– that the marvelous fighting carried out by our brothers in Chechnya is considered one of the best kinds of Jihad in the Cause of Allah. They fight – in defense of their lands, honor and religion – a tyrannical oppressive force, which does not fear Allah nor have mercy on any creature. There is a scholarly consensus (Ijma’) that whoever fights in defense of his religion, land and household, and is killed in that fighting, is considered a Martyr (Shahid).
We all know that the people of Chechnya did not launch an attack against anyone; however they have been attacked and killed in their homes. But we are sure that Allah the Almighty will help them put their enemy to rout, grant them victory and help them gain supremacy in their lands. Allah, Exalted be He, says: «Permission to fight (against disbelievers) is given to those (believers) who are fought against them (believers) victory». (Al-Hajj: 39)
The recent days augurs victory for Chechnya, and the Promise of Allah will for sure come true soon. Allah, Exalted and Glorified be He, says, «If Allah is your helper none can overcome you...» (Al ‘Imran: 160)»
Allah Almighty knows best.
Curious. I read the first bit of this out to my wife. Her response: 'Target Audience!'
And so it is. Decent Americans being the targets.
Al-Qaradawi, praised by the sinister Karen Armstrong in her little guide to unreality, Islam, as a "moderate," is the most widely read Sunni cleric in the world. From his base in "moderate" Qatar (you know the place, with the good-looking wife of the Emir, who is all in favor of women's rights, but that also hosts that combination of TASS and Der Stuermer, Al-Jazeera), should be recalled here as one of the promoters of the "first Constantinople, then Rome" visionaries in the Muslim world. In a "Special Dispatch" for December 6, 2002, the website www.Memri.com devoted an article to that prediction, which comes from a hadith by Muhammad (real or imaginary, it makes no difference -- what counts is what Muslims believe, or allow themslves to believe). He predicted, and his prediction has been echoed all over Italy, not least by the "Imam of Caramagnola"-- recently expelled to Senegal, where he continues to spout Wahhabism, and whose wife nas confidently predicted that, through overbreeding, Muslims in Italy will eventually gain control of that country, without which Western civlization cannot be said to exist (the same might be said, incidentally, for Israel).
Her grim tidings are merely echoes of what Qaradawi constantly preaches -- not through military conquest (obviously impossible at this point) but through Da'wa (the Call to Islam, or efforts at conversion) and through demography, Rome will be conquered, and may even become the capital of a new Islamic Empire, incorporating --if the Western world refuses to come to its senses -- all of Europe.
Qaradawi seems well on the way to be proven right. While yielding to demands for ransom, the Italian government does not dare deny benefits to Muslims on the dole, does not dare to deny the demand for more mosques (it should be closing those mosques in which weapons have been found, and where hate is preached), does nothing to prevent halal styles of butchery even thoush they violate Western standards, methods, including the closing of mosques, the banning of the hijab. And, of course, eventually the Western world -- like Israel -- is going to have to come to grips with the need for mass expulsions, if it does not wish to disappear, not because Islam is a superior ideology (look at what Islam has brought, politically, economically, intellectually, morally, everywhere it has spread through conquest or demography), but simply because its adherents are quite capable of outbreeding anyone else, and deliberately so. Either we give up on the "counting of heads" that lends legitimacy, or learn to understand the threat that Islam poses and begin to consider expulsion, or the Western world, the product of Leonardo and Piero, of Spinoza and Hume, of Shakespeare and Keats and Dickens, will simply disappear. Anybody care?
do you guys think the chechens do not have a legit right to fight the russians?
Whatever claims on the world's sympathy that the Chechens may once have had, they have squandered it completely by allowing themselves to make common cause with Arabs, particularly Saudis, who have sent men and money to Chechnya, and by such acts as the seizure of the Moscow theatre. Those who practice terrorism as one of the instruments of warfare thereby lose all claim to being heard, much less supported. Period. Full stop. What may once have been a purely nationalist goal, that of Chechen independence, became part of a classical Jihad, just as Pakistan's claim to Kashmir is not limited to Kashmir or, more obviously, just as the "Palestinian people's" claim is not for "lost -- often imaginary -- homes" but for the elimination of the intolerable affront that Israel's existence, as an Infidel polity, represents.
In World War II neither the United States, nor Great Britain, nor the Russian exiles in the U.S. who were most fervently anti-Soviet (such as Kerensky, Aldanov, Joseph Hessen, Nabokov, Balanchine, Stravinsky, Dobuzhinsky), had the slightest doubt that Stalin, and Russia, had to be supported by the U.S. to the hilt. This did not mean that Stalin should not immediately be abandoned, and even turned on, once the war was over (indeed, he was not turned on nearly quickly enough, not until after the Red Army had swallowed Eastern Europe).
Now that in Chechnya the war against Russia has been transformed by Arab fighters and Saudi money, and now that Chechens have been found among the Al Qaeda ranks in Afghanistan and Pakistan, and elsewhere (these may be Chechens from Jordan, for there are at least 15,000 Chechens in that country, where a Chechen colony was established long ago).
Sorry -- but from here on out, whoever receives aid from, or gives aid to, other Jihadists, whether it is Uighurs, or Chechens, or anyone else, loses all claims on Infidel sympathy and support. And all those who attempt to justify, or explain away, or mislead the unwary as to the nature of Islamic tenets, and the real goals of movements arising out of Islamic teachings, are -- even if they call themselves "Christians" or something else, are objectively supporters of Jihad, and need to be monitored, to see if the source of their misinformation is their own ignorance, or something more suspect.
so by the chechens actions of suicide bombing, taking hostages, ransom executions, etc. thus justify russia's terrible treatment of that country. look at grozny russia has done ZERO to improve and rebuild it after they leveled it. it still looks like a city straight out of bombed out germany circa 1945. does it justify russia going into villages and taking prisoners because they are male and are of fighting age to then be tortured by FSB and then possible excuted. this crap is happening there and for you to justify it because the chechens resistence's ties to the jihad movement. chechens are not russians they are some of the most fiercly nationalistic people in the region and they will never forget history. they have never forgotten there previous wars with russia throughtout history nor have they forgotten stalins forced deportation of the chechen ethnic population.
There is a simple litmus test for terrorism vs freedom fighters and the Chechens fail it:
Are non-combatants being primarily and deliberately targeted?
If the Chechen quarrel is with the Russian government, then I could understand their attacking Russian soldiers or police. But it would make no military sense to attack babies in prams.
If it is a matter of attacking a culture or trying to intimidate a population into doing something out of fear, then attacking babies in prams makes a sort of psychpathic sense, but you cannot then deny that you are a terrorist and deserve the fate of a rabid animal.
And you can hardly blame the Russians for attempting to provide it.
Whatever one's admiration for Lermontov's Pechorin and A Hero of Our Time, however hummingly one recalls "zloy Chechen tikho skol'zit' v kolybel' tvoyu" or relishes Hajji Murad, one can still consider the conquest of the Caucasus as Russian imperialism. But Islam, too, is the longest-running, and most successful cultural and intellectual imperialism in world history. Between the two, one naturally chooses to support Russian imperialism, which does not thraten the rest of us. Islam does. Soviet anti-religious campaigns, that over many decades de-islamized much, though not all, of Central Asia -- to the benefit, especially, of its nominally Muslim inhabitants, who in Kazakhstan, especially, are as a result intelligent participants in modern reality, not mired in the shadowy constructs of seventh and eighth century Arabdom (whether originating inside, or outside the Hijaz), known as Qur'an and hadith.
But even as one may deplore the Chinese imperialism directed at the unique civilization in Tibet and remain unconcerned about Chinese - ( --imperialism in subjecting the Muslim Uighurs of Xinjiang, one must, despite some qualms, support the Russian effort. at this point, to suppress Muslim -- that is, Chechen and Arab terrorism, and Chechen demands as well, however illogical and unpleasant Russian foreign policy may otherwise be. If one recognizes the largest threat, the permanent problem that Islam represents, one must always take the side of those who are working against the Jihad, whatever the local expressions of that Jihad may be, and whatever the sympathies that local conditions might otherwise arouse.
Joseph stop.......you're wrong about this. In case you haven't noticed, and I know damn well you have, there's a world wide war on terrorism going on.......for once, stop being so liberal and realize that this is a fight for the survival of the civilized world.....
Just once, look at it that way.
About ten years ago, before this whole jihad story was let known to everybody, I sympathized with the Chechnians. But they have definatly lost all of my support because of their resort to terrorist tactics. They actually, probably, had a better chance of becoming free if they hadn't done their horrific attacks on civilians. Now they will forever be fighting a superior force and they won't be free. The same is happening to jihadis all over the world. We are not just going to give them what they want if they continue to committ atrocities.
hahahahahahaha
Why don't the chechnians just say please to russia. They probably would give them their freedom!!
joseph - You must realize that Islam and jihad are the greatest dangers to civilized mankind at this time. Chechen fighters partnering with Jihadists are putting us all in danger because they are part of the internaltional thrust by Muslims to Islamize, colonize, and dhimmize, or kill if need be, all non-Muslims and ALL MUSLIMS THAT ARE NOT AS RADICAL AS THEY ARE. Thus, anyone that gives comfort to, fights along side of, funds, or in any way supports jihad can not receive our approval. They are endangering us all.
actually i view the greatest threat to mankind at the moment is humans out growing the planet its ability to provide resources to sustain us and the possible negative out comes of global warming... oh shoot i just pegged my self as not only a liberal but a treehugging liberal... i must supress these thoughts:) the chechens justify the killing of russians in the age old eye for a eye crap where the russians have killed many non combatants in chechnya the chechens are then taking it back to the russians.. something i do not support. but i really do not see how russia will fix its chechen problem by setting up a pro russian puppet govt. and continued military occupation of that country. its just not popular with the vast majority of the public there.
Well Joseph, perhaps if we let the jihadists have their way with us, we won't have to worry about overcrowding.....let's call it sound environmental policy.
joseph - Don't worry about global warming or overpopulation. There is no real evidence to support global warming. Within ten years fossil fuel use will decline because of deminished oil reserves. As for population growth. Many parts of the world are experiencing negative growth, others just sustain their population totals, AIDS is causing a decline in Africa and in other places, and population totals are leveling off and beginning to fall in several places. (I can not giv you the exact references, as this is a compliation of information from various sources. ) Add the present conflicts and the possibility of a globalized war that appears to be fast approaching, I don't think we need to worry about population overtaxing resources.
A greater worry will be the allocation of the remaining resources after the conflicts have diminished. Jihad is the greatest danger. For the sake of argument, even if populations decided to give in, past history has shown what happens to those populations. Those that won't submit will be killed. Others will die because of a degraded lifestyle, lack of amenities, etc. No, jospeh, you need to revisit your assumption.
EPG, Well put.
I'd put money on Joseph having children. Global policy should begin in the home.
Hello to all. I posted this earlier and elsewhere. It demonstrates the type of blameless, irresponsible attitude we face, and must destroy.
***Off topic for a second.....Did anyone else see the Professor from UC Berkeley on O'Reilly last night? Not Hatem Bazian either....This was some lazy eyed freak that started to raise his voice to O'Reilly when O'Reilly asked him about the "Muslim Terrorists"....They guy started yelling that not all terrorists were Muslims.
When O'Reilly told him that the terrorists in question right now are ALL Muslim, he started trying to overtalk O'Reilly.
Yet another example of a male Muslim refusing to acknowledge the flaws of his religious beliefs. There was a female Muslim on there at the same time but at a different location, that had just written a book calling for the reform of Islam.
Needless to say, she made sense, while her male counterpart made an ass of himself......UC Berkeley sure can pick their Muslim Professors and Lecturers....Can't they?
Posted by DCWatson at April 22, 2004 04:28 PM
Chances are that the female Muslim contributed most of the ideas in the book and they male was lending his name for legitimacy in Muslim eyes.
i would beg to disagree about your view on population predictions. from what ive read it appears that population growth is on the decline in western countries and other major developed nations but in 3rd world countries and developing nations the ammount of people is growing at a extreme rate.
and the bulk of the world population is centered in these developing countries not the united states
EPG: Actually, the woman wrote the book, and wasn't in kahoots with the radical Professor from UC Berkeley.......She was proactive, responsive, and sensible........and he was an angry little radical jihadist, dressed up in a suit and tie.
O'Reilly let him hang himself......and he did. Pride will eventually kill this cult if it doesn't reform.
EPG: If a certain book can be believed (and as I am not sure it is permitted to List the title here, I won't), then fossil fuels may well be in decline in the next 10 years. From a lot of Other works I have read, that may be more like 30 years away...
But that still brings up the subject of wars over resources. It would be a good idea to stem the tide of muslim thought/jihad, before they can Reach the resources needed to sustain their bogus conflict with the rest of the world. (I have to guess that is not true in Some countries, as to resources: ie, the Middle East is the only place where supply is lacking).
Global warming is sounding more and more like it won't be happening, either. Which is fine, because the money and resources We have will be needed to counter these idiots.
These Chechens have stated over and over again ad nauseum that they will not stop fighting Russia until Russia is an islamic republic. In fact, the mulsim world will not stop this global jihad until the world is forcably converted. Just waiting for the time that the Chechens kill scores of Russians (chances are it will happen) and Russia glasses the place. Kinda of miss the Gulag days.
Chechens are fighting to establish an Islamic state. That fact alone justifies any Russian response. Allowing these cultist to set up their discrimatory violent state, and to destabilize the surrounding region would be a suicidal step for the Russians.
Like Kashmir, what appears as a nationalist dispute to gullible westerners and the media, is in fact Jihad.
Cyber... i bet all the russians who died in the gulags miss them too...
dc yeah last night the woman was irshad manzi she is an open lesbian and lives in fear for her life her book was highly critical of islam google her name lots of info on her
Thanks Jimmy.....Was the UC Berkeley Professor losing it with O'Reilly or what?
