American officials want Syria to stop the mujahedin from entering Iraq.
WASHINGTON (AP) - After new violence that flared near the Iraqi border with Syria left five Marines dead, the U.S. military's top general urged Damascus to do more to cut the flow of foreign fighters entering Iraq.The warning Sunday from Gen. Richard Myers, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, came as the U.S. effort in Iraq suffered a setback when the new Spanish prime minister, fulfilling a campaign pledge, said he would withdraw the 1,300-member Spanish military contingent as soon as possible. ...
The battle Saturday on the Syrian-Iraqi border, in an area that had seen little fighting previously, left at least 25 Iraqis dead. Myers said the stability not only of Syria and Iraq, but also of the entire region is at stake.
"We know that the pathway into Iraq for many foreign fighters is through Syria. It's a fact. We know it. The Syrians know it," Myers told CNN's "Late Edition."
"The Syrians need to take this situation very seriously. They need to help us stop that infiltration of foreign fighters. It doesn't do their government any good."
Syria has rejected claims it is allowing militants into Iraq. It says it is responsible for official crossing points between it and Iraq but acknowledges it does not have full control over the long, porous border.

An Iraqi intelligence agent masterminded the first attack on the World Trade Center in 1993 that killed six Americans. Three years later, Iranian-backed terrorists bombed and killed 19 US servicemen at Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia. In 1998, Al Qaeda leveled two US embassies in Africa that killed over a dozen Americans, and two years later bombed the USS Cole in Yemen that wasted 17 sailors.
In response to these and other acts of war against America, our leaders did virtually nothing militarily, treated the terrorists as individual "criminals," and negotiated with the states that sponsored them. It is this decades-long passive, appeasing foreign policy that, above all, caused the slaughter of 3,000 innocents on 9/11.

Weekly, there are several protests and misagreements reported inside the members of islamic revolutionary guards (passdaran)in different cities. With all the efforts mullahs do to finance their vigilants, mercenaries, thieves and thugs, the costs are running high.
These days even the memebers of passdaran have problems going on with their present salaries. So even they protest for a better financial and social situation, just like iranian students and teachers and industry workers.
I know many iranians who are forced financially to wear the uniform and work. When there is no job around you will choose what is offered to you by the theocracy, beeing a soldier of allah, but with the green dollars in pocket of course, becuase nothing is free, other wise there is no jihad and you are out of your job. No one is waiting for a war with United States. mullahs know very well the war with United States is the end of their era. It's very likely indeed that the monstrous, devious Saddam Hussein shifted his WMDs, plus all their plant and ancillaries, into Syria during the year or two before the Coalition's 2003 assault on Iraq.
However, those contending that the banned materiel's waiting to be discovered, concealed and disguised in Syria, could have as big a job at finding them there as in Iraq.
The reason is that they've long-since been transhipped again, by the Arab Fascist ruling-clique in Damascus, this time dispersed into the terrorist-infested Beqaa Valley, across the border in Syria's satellite, Lebanon.
There have been reports of key portions of Saddam's - and Syria's - arsenals being further transferred on to hiding in Sudan. (This is aside from the trade in rockets and non-conventional payloads which Syria's been carrying on with the genocidal, Arab-chauvinist government in Khartoum.)
