A Buddhist Temple in Thailand

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Bomb blasts rocked three Buddhist temples in Thailand's troubled Muslim south Sunday, wounding at least one person in the latest violence to hit the restive region, police said.The temples, located in three separate districts of Narathiwat province, were hit by bombs within minutes of each other. One temple suffered damage to its roof and pillars.
"Three temples were attacked with explosives," said Police Major General Kathane Kochapalayuk. A bystander was slightly wounded outside one temple.
Authorities declined to speculate on the motive for the attacks, the first major incident in the region since security forces killed 108 Muslim militants who attacked police outposts across three southern provinces on April 28.
This is like the deal with UFOs. You know how certain people are sure we've been visited but the government won't tell us because we'd all go cuckoo?
This is the opposite. The evidence is plain that the bad aliens have landed and our government has all but screamed at us "We're at war! They want to kill us!" and yet all around the globe people are happily drinking their double mocha lattes, eating their mango ice cream, drinking their P&G tips tea and buying new Birkenstocks as if nothing is going on except the general and pervasive sense that America is spoiling their great good times.

This is proof positive in my mind that the jihadists in Thailand aren't actually opposed to the government for legitimate reasons, they're opposed to the government because it represents the majority Buddhist population.
Islam (wrongly) interprets our veneration of the Buddha as idolatry, and therefore we are guilty of shirk, one of the worst sins. It's rather amusing, considering that Muhammad elevated and promoted himself much more readily than the Buddha, even going so far as to have Allah pray for him and break the rules regarding the number of wives. The chronological revelation of the Quran corresponds suspiciously well with the occasions when Muhammad needed a new favour from the Big Guy.

The Jihadis of southern Thailand are a subsidiary of Jemaaa Islamia, an affiliate of el-Qaeda.
According to the boasts of their "spritual head" Abu-Bakr Bashir (in prison in Indonesia for his role in the Bali bombing and other atrocities there), South East Asia's to be forcefully united as one Islamic Emirate (encompassing, at the minimum, Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore, southern Thailand, the southern Philippines, southwestern Cambodia, the coastal parts of Burma, Papua-Niugini and northwestern Australia).

We watched the Police General's inspection of the bomb damage on the news last night. He was actually tear eyed by the site of the damage to the temples. It was strange to see because the Thais tend not to show a whole lot of emotion in public. A Police General lookling like he's going to cry was really strange to see.
The average Thai is VERY angry about this.
I just went through the Reuters piece on this and its full of crap.

This is not the first major attack. There was one with in the last week that injured some cops. Attacks accure DAILY. Monks can't leave the temple grounds for fear of being hacked to death. Normally they walk around in the early morning and locals give them food and donations. Now locals have to covertly deliver donations to the temples. Covertly because if they are SEEN giving aid to the monks they are liable to be punished. By being hacked to death.

Excessive use of force by who? The 130 or so jihadists who attacked 10 locations beginning at 4am until 2pm in the afternoon?
"The bloodiest fighting of that day occurred when soldiers and police stormed a historic mosque in the southern town of Pattani and killed 32 militants hiding inside."
Yes always blame the coppers. Don't mention that it was the militants who stormed the historic mosque at 5:30 am and took hostages, then used to holy site for their HQ during the day.
