Wail al Dhaleai in Taekwondo garb
Ah, what a swell guy he was. Neither these English kids nor their parents seem concerned that he killed himself in a murderous attack on troops allied with Britain's. From Sheffield Today, with thanks to Jeffrey Imm:
SHEFFIELD youngsters have paid tribute to their "fantastic" martial arts instructor, a man who died in a suicide bomb attack on US troops in Iraq.Tae kwon do pupils at the Goodwill Community Centre spoke of their much-loved teacher Wail al Dhaleai, aged 22, of Clover Gardens, Wincobank, who set up classes a year ago.
Staff and some pupils at the centre, on Rothay Road, Grimesthorpe, were heartbroken when the martial arts expert blew himself up in Iraq last November.
When his pupils took their first tae kwon do grading exam, they said they did it for him.Sammy Noor, aged 14, of Wensley Street, Grimes-thorpe, said: "He was one of the nicest people I have ever met. We had a laugh with him and he made it fun for us so that we wanted to train with him.
"I felt like when I got my grading, I did it for him. When he trained us he used to say 'don't stop, keep training.' He wanted to make us good fighters."
"I was upset because he was a friend to us. I used to see him at prayer at the mosque as well as at the classes.
"We used to joke with him and have a laugh with him, we only found out what happened to him in the newspaper."
Parent Hussein Saleh, 38, paid tribute to the man who "boosted the community" by opening the first martial arts class at the centre.
"He was fantastic and what he did for these kids is what no one had ever done before. We needed Wail. Getting them here after school was getting them off the streets.
"He gave them the determination to carry on and be a black belt. He was such a good teacher. Discipline was his speciality."
I guess you could put it that way.
Is this a parody??
This could be the basis of a new kids cartoon.
Hong Kong Kablooey.
"He wanted to make us good fighters."
I'm sure he did. Preparing for jihad no doubt.
The fact that the parents and the children accept the fact that this man could be a judo instructor and a homicide bomber the next is telling. They have become amoral. In their culture, bombing and martyrdom is an accepted aspiration for which they and their families will be rewarded.
There seems to be no way to contain those infected by this sinister and dangerous meme, a mind virus that eventually destroys not only the infected, but all whom they touch. Our total destruction is its aim.
Query: "Grimesthorpe" or "Grimthorpe"? A study of English toponyms by Eilart Ekwall suggests "Grimthorpe" only, with "grim" referring to Odin, or Thor, the God of Thunder. Related to the Great Grimpen Marsh of Conan Doyle's The Hound of the Baskervilles, and to "grimpen" in Eliot's Four Quartets.
Irrelevant, of course, to the grim matter at hand, but confronted with such idiocy, one wants to retreat to other topics -- placenames, flower-pressing, the kingly response to a queen's gambit declined.
It is perhaps worth noting, however, that while sports are generally discouraged in Islam (see Qaradawi's book on the Halal and the Haram), those such as martial arts, which are connected to warfare, are therefore considered acceptable. Were these little pupils at the Tae Kwon Do studio by any chance Muslims?
Hugh: The answer to your query is "Grimesthorpe".
And I don't think it has anything to do with the very clever stuff you were talking about.
I used to live near there. There are a lot of Muslims in that area and I guess that if the children saw him praying in the mosque then, chances are very high that he was a muslim.
What is sad in this, is that the Muslim community have not as far as I know, distanced themselves from the act of utter terror and human anguish and sorrow that this man brought.
There is only one way--barring genocide--to turn the tide. If the creation of one generation of jihadists after another is not stopped, it will go on for a very long time.
With a birthrate which is multiples of our own, Islam will overwhelm us unless we take control of the education of their many, many, children who are citizens of our country.
When Luther had succeeded in establishing the Reformation, he knew that many people opposed what he had done. He recognized that if his ideas were to have "staying power," he would immediately have to figure out a way to create a large population dedicated to his ideas.
To this end, he wrote to the leaders of the German states and asked them to establish a system of tax-supported compulsory schools where children were taught Lutheran piety in addition to reading and writing.
The idea took off; Holland, Geneva, and the Puritan colonies of Massachussetts quickly followed the practice of establishing tax-supported compulsory schools used to promulgate matters of faith.
In the mid-eighteen hundreds, a descendant of the Puritans of the Massachussetts Bay Colony, Horace Mann, feared that the large numbers of Catholics then entering the United States would dilute the Protestant orthodoxy that pervaded the culture at the time. In order to prevent this, he made it his life's work to establish a widespread tax-supported compulsory educational system. He was so successful that Catholic parents even called the government-run system the "Protestant schools," and in response, established their own schools, which remain in place today.
At the time the government schools were spreading, young men from prominant American families were being sent abroad to complete their educations. Many were sent to Germany rather that Britain because of the recent quibbles America had had with the Mother Country.
In Germany, these young men were brainwashed with the philosophy of Immanuel Kant, a statist, who popularized the idea of the "Organic Theory of State"--the state was like an organism, while the individual was like one of the cells of the organism. The cell, or individual, was not important, and existed only to preserve the state, which was supreme. It was the "duty" of the individual to sacrifice himself to the state, no matter what the circumstances. Marx and Engel liked that a lot too.
Kant's philosophy directly opposed that on which the United States had been founded--the idea that the individual was supremely important, and that governments were established to protect the rights of the individual. That was the proper function of the police, the courts, and the armed forces.
Kant's ideas could ultimately be traced to Plato, while those of Jefferson, Locke, et al., which contributed so heavily to the establishment of the United States, could ultimately be traced to Aristotle.
The sons of America who returned from Germany were the first Fifth Column; they imported the ideas of Kant. They entered all fields--the law, journalism, and--you guessed it--education.
They came back with their Kantian ideas just as the tax-supported, compulsory school system was undergoing a rapid rate of growth in this country--just in time to change the course of this country forever.
There's so much more to tell of the consequences of this, but the bottom line is, scratch Kant and you'll find a liberal--a liberal who just can't seem to understand what all the fuss is about, or why some regard Islam as a threat.
The only way back is through "counter-education." Our children, and the many, many children of the Islamic immigrants to this country must know what all the fuss is about.
In this war of ideas, the curriculum must be "Reason, writing, and 'rithmetic." It can no longer be moral equivalency, diversity, and turning the other cheek.
Sometimes I hear people speaking of "fighting fire with fire." Never has a truer word been spoken; we must fight madrassas with an educational system heavily invested in reason.
These kids are already bing traned in amorality for future jihadist tasks.
Abd i thought it was only the cambodian kids who could be taught to kill their own parents !
Tony Blair - its too late

you can do a lot more for your country over there.
i am sure hitler also had people and childern that thought he was a great person.
Hugh,
"Grimsville" it certainly is, but if this report is right (and it's sourced to a local newspaper) the real name is indeed, Grimethorpe. It's a village in the (former) Yorkshire coalfield, north of Sheffield.
Here is the rich irony. This was an exclusively white, blue-collar mining community, up to 20 years ago. When the mines were still working, so were the people of Grimethorpe. When the mines closed, out went the white working class (to find work); in came the (probably Pakistani/Bangledeshi) muslim immigrants.
To find work? Hardly: to find unemployment, benefit payments, and cheap housing. Guess which part of Britain is the most fertile breeding-ground for right-wing, anti-immigrant political parties?
Sam,

I find your comment offensive to the people who live in Grimesthorpe. It may be run down but it is home to many who cannot afford better - not all of them are refugee's or asylum seekers, many are White Britons who have lived there all their lives and are not infatuated with bigger and better houses et al, and they get on very well with the Muslims who live there.
The Thread story is true - I live in Sheffield.
We have the answer to all this and it's found in the portfolio section of my website at http://electdesigns.com
Cheeky link alert :)

Glad to hear that the residents get on well with the muslims living in Grimethorpe; and yes they got a rotten deal when domestic coal fell off the cliff. But they have some pretty dangerous people as neighbours. Ok, it's only one. But NOBODY knew? All innocents here? Credible?
With a birthrate which is multiples of our own, Islam will overwhelm us unless we take control of the education of their many, many, children who are citizens of our country.
Cubed, with an islamic birthrate many times of western women, there will be mass starvation and poverty within 40 years in the mid East. The culture just can't support that. As it is now in Iran, the average salary is less than $1000 a year, hardly enough to support consistant baby making. And it is getting worse.
The mass starvation that will begin to apear in about 15-20 years will not be able to be stopped, as the world population grows, our food reserve becomes less. Western civilization simply will not be able to provide enough food.
Nature is the ultimate equalizer.
There was a good article about this somewhere, darned if I can remember where it was.
