Abu Usama may know this man; then again he may not
In the Arabic-language Al-Wasat magazine, a revealing interview with a jihadist. From the SITE Institute, with thanks to Jeffrey Imm:
Abu Usama, who gave himself this nickname in honor of bin Laden, affirmed his association with al-Qaeda and also assured that he “speaks for Abu Musab Zarqawi”. He denied Zarqawi’s involvement in the latest bloody attacks that targeted Shi’ite religious centers, assuring that “the Americans’ losses in Fallujah exceeded by far what had been announced. He said that, during the latest battles, 15 US helicopters were taken down, and more than 90 armored cars and tanks were destroyed with weapons developed by the combatants themselves”.Abu Usama, who calls himself the “Prince” of combatants, added that the “al-Qaeda organization is spiritual not military”, and that “every Mujahid truthful to God is a Qaeda member”. He assured that “they are fighting the Americans because they invaded Iraq, and because they are blasphemers, as God’s word should come before everything”.
Pursuant to a question on the lack of technical and military balance between their traditional weapons and the advanced US munitions, Abu Usama led his interviewer to a room full of US weapons, equipment, and clothing confiscated by “the heroic Mujahideen after having killed the blasphemers who had them in their possession”. He explained that they are getting weapons from everywhere, that “they are capable of fighting the Blasphemers as long as it is God’s wish”, and that “the Believers are bound to triumph”.
To a question if the Salafists viewed Shi’ites and Sufis as their enemies, based on the fact that the Salafist’s ideology considers Shiites and Sufis blasphemers, Abu Usama said: “If they collaborate with the occupation, then they are our enemies. And if they take no action, they are silent devils that must be killed when necessary. That is when they become a danger to Islam and Muslims… Such is the case in Iraq because they are not fighting the Blasphemers and are helping them get established in Muslim territories”.
Repeatedly avoiding to admit if he was a Zarqawi follower, Abu Usama fervently denied any involvement of Zarqawi in the assassination of Assayyed Al Hakim, the Ashoura events, and the explosions that targeted Iraqis, saying: “Those accusations are lies made up by the American-Zionists to portray a bad image of the Jihad. I swear by the Great God that, every targeting in Iraq of the Shiites, the Sunnis, and the Kurds was arranged for by the CIA and the Zionist Mossad”.
He acknowledged that, even though Shi’ites and Sufis are considered Blasphemers, and their killing is recommended in their ideology, they took no part in those operations and were not aware of them. In a reference to Muqtada Al Sadr’s last “khutba” [speech] in which he swore to defend their sanctities, he said: “I would like to tell him [Al Sadr]: ‘your sanctities are Muslim sanctities that we respect. We, in the “Salaf Saleh”, have not taken any military action against them up until this moment’”.
Abu Usama explained that, holding blasphemers as prisoners is an old means used to make the enemy fail politically, and to exchange the hostages with the Mujahideen detained inside and outside Iraq. He disagreed with his interviewer that citizens of countries that did not participate in the war on Iraq should not be held hostages, “for all blaspheming countries are openly or secretly allies of the US”. He considered that “America is in deep trouble in Fallujah. With all its power, it was not capable of defeating this small city. It would if it could”.
When asked about the number of Mujahideen, their nationalities [if they were only Iraqis, or Arabs and foreigners], and who supplies them with weapons ready to use in their confrontations with the Americans, he said: “Thanks to God, we have Brothers bearers of the highest scientific diplomas. They are capable, with the help of God, to manufacture the weapons, not only finance their supply”.
The "highest scientific diplomas"? But I thought this was a movement that only appealed to the ignorant. Hmmm.
Undue emphasis has been placed on the figure of Osama bin Laden, and the need to "get him." This reinforces the silly idea of America as a country with a "cowboy" president, out to get the "bad guy." (The phrase "bad guy" is what American soldiers in Iraq are forced to use; they are not permitted to understand that the enemy is Islam, Islamic tenets, Islamic believers -- no, just "bad guys").
By elevating Bin Laden's importance, and expending so much effort on locating him, one is helping to aid the Jihad. For now, when he is captured or killed, it will make not the slightest difference; the tenets of Islam still exist; al-Jazeera still exists; the audiotapes and videotapes, based on Qur'an and hadith, still exist.
And by focusing on Bin Laden and Al Qaeda, the American government is unintentionally helping to delay recognition that the threat comes not from one group, but from hundreds of groups, or from no group at all -- just a Muslim who, whatever his grievance, because he has a prepared prism (Islam) through which to view the universe, will take out that grievance on the Infidels, in one way or anotter.
The American government needs to find a cadre of people who understand what Islam is all about, are unafraid to identify it, and not "a handful of extremists" as the permanent threat, to identify as well all the instruments of Jihad, including those that do not involve "terrorism" and are, in the end, because less spectacular, far more dangerous.
It is infuriating to see how the Western world is behaving. It is not only the appeasers, and the sauve-qui-peut philosophers of Europe, who cannot admit to their own populations the folly of what they have permitted (the millions of Muslim immigrants, which are now a permanent threat unless mass expulsions are undertaken, and that can only happen if the intellectual ground is prepared), nor the sheer idiocy of the Euro-Arab Dialogue which has become, essentially, a vehicle for the appeasement of Arab demands, and for the adoption of Arab attitudes in the Jihad against Israel -- perhaps in order to buy time (it will do the opposite), perhaps in the dreamy hope that somehow, Islamic tenets cannot possibly be what all those Cassandras on places like Jihadwatch say they are, but really if only we placate them by throwing Israel to the wolves (and that becomes easier if all of your media has for decades, and with ever-greater meretriciousness, been engaged in misreporting events involving Israel so that, little by little, drop by deadly drop, the stillicide of vilification manages to carve out its little depression, in which there now lies a pool of fetid hate.
Less attention to Osama Bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawihiri, doing their imitation of Muhammad and the best of his Companions somewhere in Waziristan, and much more to rallying those in Western Europe who are desperate for transatlantic moral, intellectual, and even financial support -- akin to that received by anti-Communists in western Europe after World War II -- is far more important.
Osama Bin Ladens are if not a dime a dozen, at least easily replaceable. Pooh-pooh his importance, diminish his place in history. There are plenty of Bin Ladens, and there always will be. The trick is to make sure that no Muslim polity, state or group, has any major weaponry, and to identify ways to put such pressure on Muslim states that, whatever their secret and eternal sympathies, they will no longer fund mosques and madrasas, no longer take the risk of engaging in Jihad --it is simply a question of reading them the riot act, and doing everything possible to make the world of Islam recognize the failures -- political, economic, intellectual, and moral -- of Islam. It can be done. It is not beyond the wit of Infidel man.
Look to the roots of the problem -- roots which cannot be exitrpated, but can constantly be cut back, again and again and again, while the perception of the precise threat of Islam is explained to enough innocent Infidels, and the precise failures of Islam are demonstrated (but not explained) to a sufficient number of intelligent Muslims who may feel keenly their being cut off from the West, its educational possibilities, its health care, all the sheer wonderfulness of it that they both love and hate, without being able to reconcile the two. Well, as long as "hate" is in the equation, and there is no open recognition and admission of what Islam teaches, those Muslims will have to suffer as well -- forced to endure the sole society of the True Believers, until such time as they, those Muslims, act in the Ataturkian model. We cannot change Islamic doctrines. No one can. But the practice can be so tied down, roped in, constrained that it will, little by little, lose adherents and loyalties.

The "highest scientific diplomas" huh? What good is a diploma if you are unable to engage in critical thinking? Where did these "diplomas" come from a western university no doubt? As the confiscated weapons show, these people continue to be parasites on the west unable to produce or invent anything. Unlike the Arabs the Isreali's actually can manufacture weapons they are also capable of research and development.Could that be because the Isreali's have a western style democracy that encourages free throught and creativity?

I just remember the comment some French diplomat made about Israel akin to "we're not going to let that sh*tty little country bring us to WWIII". So it was Israel and now it's America. Political correctness was one of the worst things that ever happened to America. It was like giving everyone Mad Cow Disease where their brains have turned to sponge. The horror of anyone getting their feelings hurt! Everything is equivalent, everything/every behavior is acceptable.
Why why why is anyone shocked at the pictures from Abu Ghraib when it's what almost everyone is looking at on their computers anyway and probably milder if I'm allowed to use that judgement in a culture that insists everyone be allowed to do their "thing".
Hugh's comments are always very coherent & well informed. However, you aren't aiming high enough when you call for the Pentagon to get with the program. The military gets with whatever program is given it by the civilian government politicians. It is they who must open their eyes & ears to the truth of this situation & then have the courage & giant brass balls to come out & say that the War On Terrorism should, in fact, be called the War On Islam. They are one & the same! However, by rightfully identifying it as a war on islam we would then correctly expose the enemies' forces - each & every muslim in the world. By focusing in on only a very small percentage of the enemy & their highly visible attacks, we are turning a blind eye to the worldwide invasion taking place in western europe & the USA through mass migrations of muslims, breeding habits that put rabbits to shame & then increasingly taking root as a political entity while simultaneously covertly supporting the terrorism inside our borders. Western Europe has essentially capitulated & will very soon find itself in the position of having to either become muslim or to launch a revolution - TO TAKE BACK THEIR OWN COUNTRIES! How ironic is it that the bright shining beacon of freedom & democracy overseas comes not from our traditional so-called "allies", but rather from Eastern Europe that persevered through so much repression for all of those years under the stifling cloak of communism & knows first-hand just how precious freedom is & the horror of having it taken away from you.
Now, in order for us to win this war - World War III, The War On Islam - several seismic shifts are required. The first is to publicly state that we are fighting islam wherever & whenever we find it. Second, "political correctness" has provided an incredibly effective cloaking method which has allowed the enemy to achieve unparalleled success against us. From now on, we will speak the truth clearly & we don't care whose "sensibilities" are offended, if you are the enemy we will call you that & deal with you accordingly. Third, declare the UN irrelevant & give them 60 days to vacate the premises, the free ride is over. Fourth, invalidate any & all "international law", we will follow our own laws, no others. Fifth, take the shackles off the military & allow them to do their job. Do not worry about inflaming the "arab street" or "arab world" or whatever you want to call that repository of mass insanity. Pacify Fallujah through overwhelming force. Pulverize Najaf & terminate Al-Sadr & all of his followers. If any other place in Iraq misbehaves, take them out. Terminate the mullahs in iran & permanently dismantle their nuclear program. Terminate the syrian government. Terminate hamas, hezbollah & every other islamic organization. Sixth, tell Israel they are free to re-establish the ancient borders of "greater israel", there will be no country of palestine - we will not reward terrorists with their own country. Seventh, enact mass expulsions of muslims back to their original piece of hell that they came from. They have enjoyed all of the beauty, joy & wonder & good-will of western civilization for years, all the while plotting & praying for it's extinction. If they truly want freedom & democracy then let them establish it in their own miserable plots of barren sands.
In spite of all of the charity & good-will that we have shown to these people throughout the years, they still hate us & rejoice at killing us. They have declared war upon us. We have shown them how we can be a reliable, trustworthy, generous friend. It is now time to show them that there is no possible worse choice they could have made in choosing an enemy. If it's war they want, fine. Now let's go kick some ass & win it!

Just what is our Constitution about? The meaning of the U. S. Constitution is being changed.
The Constitution was written for a religious people. It was written for a moral people. The Founding Fathers intended that it protect the people from our government, not necessarily from each other. The Constitution insures our Liberty not our Freedom. Liberty is maintained by responsible freedom.
The Constitution is being watered down, twisted, and diverted as the river of Political Correctness flows, corrupting our society. Had the Founders known that sexual deviations would become an actual dialog of public discourse, they would have addressed the situations. They would have defined what a marriage is had they saw a need. They would have placed in effect a protection for the life of the unborn, had they known the extent of our political follies. Our Constitution was written by a people, for a people who took for granted, responsibility, respect for life, respect for others, and who had a fear of God. Responsibility would have been spelled out had they thought we would become so irresponsible.
Today, lacking the moral fortitude the Founding Fathers had, we act as children without responsibility, without morality. The activist Judges read into the lines intent that was never intended; let alone thought of.
The U. S. Constitution left much up to the common sense of a moral people. We are a depraved people and our liberties are waning as a result. Common Sense has ceased.

Jim, I can suggest only one addition to your plan, and that is: Eighth, we must institute a rational system of education for their children.
The reason for this is because by the time children reach puberty, their basic philosophical thinking patterns are more or less permanently established. This space is far too short to support this fact with the neurodevelopmental evidence for it. The bottom line is, if the children continue to be flooded with Islamic so-called "thought" from their earliest years through puberty, they will continue to grow into the adults you see today--anti-knowledge, anti-reason, anti-life, and anti-humankind members of a death-worshipping movement.
mb, the Constitution was authored primarily by James Madison and his friend Thomas Jefferson. Jefferson stated that he didn't care whether someone believed in twenty gods or none.
He understood that in a rational society, the importance of the individual is supreme. His special concern was to be sure that the government was instituted to protect the rights of the individual. It was most assuredly not to grant special privileges and/or protection for the benefit solely of religious people or,in fact, of any other group.
Under the terms of the Constitution authored by his rival Jefferson, Adams was free to hold any opinion he wanted. It was so highly thought of by our first president, George Washington, that in October of 1789, he declared that the last Thursday of November of that year be declared by Congress to be a Thanksgiving for the national Constitution so "recently ratified." Next Thanksgiving, please remember that this, and not the harvest festival celebrated by the Pilgrims, was the origin of Thanksgiving, and raise your glass in a toast of gratitude for that greatest document ever conceived and written by man.
The concept of the supremacy of the individual was conceived against the background of a Europe which had been seriously tainted by the philosopher Emmanuel Kant, who believed quite the opposite--that it was the duty of the individual to sacrifice himself to preserve the government, no matter what the circumstances were (to "sacrifice" means to give up a greater value for a lesser value--it's not really the good thing that it is so often portrayed).
This Kantian thought was the best known example of the so-called "Organic Theory of the State" which you may have heard about, and which was made famous by Karl Marx who figured so heavily in Communism and other forms of socialism.
The "Organic Theory" means that the State was analogous to an "organism," and individuals were analogous to "cells" that make up the "organism."
This corrupt thinking was imported into the United States by our own Fifth Column, the sons of prominant American families in the period widely surrounding the Civil War. They were being sent in large numbers to Europe, especially Germany (not as many were going to England, since we had only recently had a couple of wars with them). There, these young men were infected with Kant's morally reprehensible philosophy. When they returned to the U.S., they entered every field, including journalism, government, and education.
It's only too tragically easy to see the influence of Kant in America today. The most succinct way to say it is, "Scratch a Liberal and you will see Kant."
I got in a hurry and left out why our sons were sent to Germany--they were sent there to complete their educations. That's how they ran into Kant.
