As I have recently pointed out, there is No Margin For Error In the Terror War.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - A lawyer who had been arrested two weeks ago in connection with the terror attacks in Spain was set free Thursday after evidence pointed to another suspect in the deadly bombings.
GOOD proves again that people on this site jump to conclusions i clearly remember people already saying he was guilty a while back. and then they where dissing his wife for being ugly...
time to say you where wrong folks
Do you think that totally clears the fact that he could still be a terrorist?
Personally I don't think so.
I think he is a potetial time bomb, who needs extreme watch!
By the grace of Allah (swt), this innocent Muslim was freed. But what about the thousands of other innocents who are held incommunicado in American prisons and in the concentration camps in Guantanamo Bay, Afghanistan, and Iraq? When will you cease warring against Almighty Allah (swt) and stop oppressing innocent believers?
Allahu akbar
He may very well be only guilty of choosing bad friends. His wife, however,is still a woofer...
Good that he was released if he was innocent. Good that he was detained as a suspect as well. I'd sit a few days in the pokey if I thought it would help make the world safer for my friends in family.
To those who pretend that Mr. Mayfield can be a good Muslim and a loyal citizen of the United States, or any other Infidel polity, one must ask several questions: 1) does Islam encourage, in every nook and cranny of Qur'an and hadith, loyalty to the umma al-islamiyya, to one's fellow Muslims, or does it not? 2) does Islam inculcate hostility, sometimes amounting to murderous hatred, of non-Muslims -- beginning with the injunction "not to take Christians or Jews" as friends, and ending with such notions as beheading the Infidels, or does it not? 3) if the Qur'an and hadith are full of such statements, and they are, then why should non-Muslims believe that Muslims can in fact be loyal citizens of a non-Muslim state, when everything in Islam teaches that such loyalty would be a betrayal of Islam? (the feigned offering of such loyalty, in order to further the cause of da'wa, and to protect the faith, is of course not only allowed, but religiously-sanctioned -- kitman or taqiyya are the interchangeable terms, the one more general, the other more specifically Shi'a).
Whether Mayfield's is innocent of participation in the Madrid bombing does not in the least vitiate the points made here -- and that Muslims who tell the truth would have great difficulty in answering to the satisfaction of those of us who think loyalty to the nation-state is a minimum demand to be made on all citizens.
hugh what you are saying means nothing in this matter. what has me angry is people on this site and other websites automatically judged this man guilty of being directly involved in the madrid attack. this kneejerk reaction by certain individuals goes completely against how justice and the law work in our country.
Folks, I know this is hard to hear,but... Joseph...is...right. Arrggghhh! Well, only sorta, but that's revolting enough.
Last I checked, the Consitution still stands, and the Bill of Rights still exists. We can't deny due process. Luckily, that is what happened. The government though they had evidence, made and arrest, found out there wasn't evidence, and let him go. That is the way the system is supposed to work, and it did.
But there were quite a few people ready to have the trial, right after they were done with the hanging. That sequence of events, while common in many parts of the world, can't run rampant here.
If they manage to make us react like them, then they've won, haven't they?
But Joseph, don't get to smug.
His wife is STILL ugly.
We should have almost zero immigration for five or ten years, certainly of Muslims. There is a war going on between Islam and America. Under these conditions it is nuts to be importing more Muslims. Most Muslims in America (something like 60% according to a recent poll) think America is immoral. It doesn't really matter whether its our culture they don't like or our foreign policy or the fact that we consider Jews to be human beings. It's not our job to convince them we're nice guys.
I guess the majority of American Muslims would really rather not get involved in any activities that would harm fellow Americans. But how can you tell which are safe and which are going to snap and blow up something? Are we going to have one FBI agent for each American Muslim? That is a fair question. The safest thing is to just zero immigration for the present.
I constantly get this feeling of being bullied by just about all the statements in print from Muslims. There is always a subtext of threat and bullying. It's like they're saying maybe they will live here and obey the laws as long as they feel like it, but they are being pushed to the wall and are ready to strike back. I don't want to be struck back at. I got enough problems in my life just paying my mortgage. I don't want to worry about who I'm passing on the street, or if someone left a bomb in the restroom of the train, or of there is anthrax in the ventilation system, of the well has been poisoned, or the guy sitting behind me at work is going to go on jihad against a sandwich I leave on my desk.
I vote for zero immigration and liberal deportations of undesirable aliens.
Luigi~ Why would you be struck back at? The only reason I can see, for you or any of us here, is that you Are you. You exist. You don't fit their view of things. Neither do any of us.
Joseph~ You got One. 1,000 more Arabian Nights to go. Keep arguing, but my bet is they (Islam) prove you wrong on most.
(the feigned offering of such loyalty, in order to further the cause of da'wa, and to protect the faith, is of course not only allowed, but religiously-sanctioned -- kitman or taqiyya are the interchangeable terms, the one more general, the other more specifically Shi'a).

Hugh-
could you elaborate on "kitman" and "taqiyya"
for those of us less knowledgeable,
or maybe link to info on these terms on the web somewhere?
do the two terms relate to Quranic permissions
to "lie to enemies" in order to
"advance the cause of Islam"?
thanks in advance.
did some of my own homework...

TAQIYA- (also mentions "kithman")
http://answering-islam.org.uk/Index/T/taqiya.html
"Taqiyya" originates in Shi'a Islam, but the idea, also expressed in term "kitman," simply means the religiously-sanctioned practice of lying in order to "protect the faith" or "protect the Believer." That lying can include, obviously, denial of the tenets of the Faith -- such as claiming that Islam does NOT "preach hatred of non-Muslims" (see Sura 9, and Richard Bell's commentary on this Sura, one long call for war against Christians and Jews), or that this particular Believer feels no contradiction between the tenets of Islam and "loyalty" to the United States (which, of course, could mean "my real loyalty is to make sure that the United States becomes Muslim, for that would be the act of truest loyalty I can offer -- helping to make this country accept the only true faith. Check the Encyclopedia of Islam and other references; "taqiyya" is always mentioned; "kitman" sometimes is. And of course, simply google the terms -- there is plenty on them.
People of all religions, it might be argued, lie. And so they do. And for various reasons. And so they do. But there is no other religion that sanctions, that approves of, that actively suggests it is altogether right and proper and even admirable, to lie in order to protect the Believer, or the Belief, and to further the ultimate aims of both. That is what distinguishes Islam, and Muslims. Lying is so ingrained, so much a part of Arab Muslim culture in particular -- see Sania Hamady (herself a sociologist of Arab descent, but one who lived in the West), Character and Temperament of the Arabs: "Lying is a widespread habit among the Arabs and they have a low idea of truth...The Arab has no scruples about lying if it helps him to obtain his objective."
But rather than ascribe this specifically to some specifically elaborate "Oriental imagination" I think the roots of this come from Islam specifically. Al-Ghazzali, the celebrated 11th century theologian, wrote: "Know that a lie is not haram [forbidden] in itself, but only because the evil conclusions to which it leads the hearer, making him believe something that is not really the case...If a lie is the only way of obtaining a good result, it is permissible...We must lie when truth leads to unpleassant results." So, if telling "the truth" could lead to "unpleasant results," such as Infidels taking measures to defend themselves against the Jihad -- for example, by viewing all Muslims as potentially dangerous members of a fifth column, or by ending their entry into the dar al-Harb, then it is perfectly permissible to lie to further the spread of Islam, and to swell its ranks.
The hadith which ascribes to Muhammad the statement "War is deception" ought to be engraven in the minds of all Infidels, just as it is for Muslims. That foundational sentiment is found so often in the Qur'anic teachings, that an entire book could be written about "taqiyya" and "kitman" -- and perhaps it has been.
I STILL think there's something fishy about this guy.
Joseph:
Yes, we sometimes get a little passionate because of the threat we face. I'm certain that when the time comes you will run to hide under the skirts of people like us.
Reza:
The answer to your last question:
As long as one of you still draws breath.
Joseph:
when these relgious writings where created mans grasp of science and the universe was of a extremely lower level then where we are now.
There is one critical difference between the obviously incorrect things written in the Bible and those written in the Qur'an:
Very few Christians actually believe that every word in the Bible is literally true.
Muslims, on the other hand, are taught that the Qur'an is the literal word of Allah, and that everything in it is absolutely true.
Lest we miss the forest for the tree....Why were Mr. Mayfield's fingerprints in a data base to be matched up in the first place? :)
I will reserve judgement until I hear Mr. Mayfield recite the "Pledge of Allegeince to the United States of America" out loud in public...Including the part about One Nation UNDER GOD...
But, I will not hold my breath until he does...
Maybe this was staged to let him out because he gave someone up? We work with the interpole all the time ?
How long do you think the Muslums will let him live remember he is a lawyer used to making deals? He is tied to terrorist did not he defend a few who are now in Jail?
Part of the American Tribe
God Bless the USA and her Fighting Forces and All who Fight With her give them Strength and Courage to stay the course to Victory Amen
Maybe this is a case of justice at work.... This guy was hauled up in a dragnet. But in the United States, unlike other parts of the world,
the authorities admitted to error and released him. He is not going to face the prospect of rotting in a damp cell, is he?
What other country on earth admits when it is wrong or has violated someone's civil rights?
So, where would YOU like to live?
The moslem world is watching the Christian West to see if we practice what we preach. Do we?
We can't control the judicial systems elsewhere in the world but we can police and improve our own systems.
Let's continue to play fair and keep it clean.
The Iraqi & Insurgent (Muslim) Prisoners are not innocent; and, as they are freed they will pickup arms against coalition forces and the world. The violence is increasing, the death toll rising. Let's wake up to the reality at hand. A muslim belives in the death of all non muslims. Be afraid - very afraid... they will kill you if given the chance.
Joey,
This is an example of the western judicial system working as advertised. Why does this disappoint you?
I have no problem with him being released. It proves our system actually works. But this guy should be watched, I am sure he is a traitor, at least in his heart!
