So, is the media going to show the video in it's entirety over and over and over like we are seeing the photos of the Iraqi prisoners being 'tortured'. Are we going to see every world leader rise up and condemn this murder.

I'm sorry, but aside from being humiliating, paraded around naked with underwear on your head falls into the 'fraternity initiation' category rather than torture.

Not to be macabe, but does this group email the video web address to the news organizations? Why is it hidden? I understand out of respect for the family but the left in this country needs to see exactly who we are fighting.

Is anyone really surprised by this? I just saw commentators on FOX describing the people who did this as animals and subhmans.You could feel the anger in Shep Smith as he described this video. Will people continue to ring there hands over a few prison photos or start to take a good hard look at the animals who live in the middle east.I sure hope there are no more apologies to the Arabs and that the soldiers at Abu Grieve are given medals instead of punishment.

I agree with most of the posts. The thing that angers me most is that all these criminals keep their faces covered. They are not men, they are cowards. I am so sorry for the family of the man who was murdered in such a barbaric way. I have heard many condemning diatribes issuing from the likes of Amnesty International or the left wing press regarding the British soldiers actions in stressful situations, all supported by fake photos. I have had to endure the hand wringing angst of woolly minded liberals telling me just how bad the Americans have behaved in the prisons; I wonder where they will be tomorrow morning.

Outrage is good, as torturing prisoners is not better then beheading an harmless man. Two wrong, two big wrongs don't make a right.

I see a lot of outrage, which is good because two horrors like that should not happen. But they happened, because of bloody murderous people in the military and bloody murderous terrorist.

You can easily spot them by looking for their telltale signs :

1) Go, let's roll and nuke them !
2) We are right, they're wrong !
3) We're better, they're worse and evil !
4) We got honour, they dont !
5) We have God on our side !

and other easy slogans, prepared to MAKE you believe them ; they repeat their mantra forever, brainwashed as they are.

Their objective is the same: incite hate, incite war, create an holy war of some kind. Sometime they hide in religious groups, creating groups of extremist zealots who only read what they WANT to read in Bible or Quran. Many times they're simpletons, sometimes they're highly educated, but disturbed people.

Sometimes you find them in the military, hiding under a flag , hiding behind superiors : this is the kind of people that worked in the U.S.
prison in which tortures happened, dishonouring U.S. for a long time. They're the scum of military and must be removed from service at once.

Oh my God.... It is enranging... The death of a fellow american citizen who went to build Iraq. But worse yet, imagine that things like this happen on a daily basis. Everyday, there are a couple of American citizens being slaughtered to death or even worse tortured to death. American women being raped before executed... Day after day....

How enraged are you? How enraged will you be if this goes on for another week? a month? a year? How would you feel if these people started killing people you know, friends, sisters, brothers, father and mother.... How would it feel?

Most of the posts here certainly reveal your true sympathy and emotion for the killing of alegedly an innocent American, and I bet if anyone of you were to meet one of the people who did this, you will make sure he dies as slowly and painfully as possible.

I heard today that this beheading took place BEFORE the news broke out that there were "atrocities" (gag, choke on that last word) committed in the prisons. Therefore, this murder has NOTHING to do with the nudie pics. It was done because they could do it and for no other reason.

As to some of the comments I have read, and the sadly ignorant pieces of information included in them, the "eye for an eye" biblical reference was actually the opposite of what one person asserted. In ancient times, if I took out your eye, you would take off my head. If I knocked out your tooth, you would cut off my leg; or kill my brother. That reference was put in place to LIMIT the penalty of the act done from one to another - not to equal it. It was an extremely humane limiting - not a justification for violence.

Lastly, I fail to understand the whole "God is Great" stuff spouted by these murdering b*stards. This is the whole reason why it says in the Bible, "Thou shalt not lift the name of your G-d in vain." Or, in other words, you should not use G-d's name in an improper way - and there is nothing more improper than using G-d's name to condone murder in any form. Most religions 'suggest' forcing that religion upon other peoples as a good follower, and while the Qur'an does seem to be more literally adamant and extreme about it than other religions, most followers of Islam don't believe in violence towards anyone simply for being a non-believer, but only for those who pose a direct threat to them or their faith.

They expect and demand that western countries allow them to build mosques and Islamic schools in western cities. They even demand that Muslims be allowed to worship in the Cordoba Church in Spain on the grounds that it was a mosque until 1236. Yet in probably all Muslim nations, non-Muslims either cannot practice their religions or are severely restricted to do so, No non-Muslim places of worship exists in Muslim nations like Saudi Arabia. A Muslim State in Nigeria wants to demolish all churches in the state. Churches in Egypt need a permit from the President of Egypt just to renovate their church, let alone build new ones. Officially there is only two churches in Brunei – the Catholic Church and the Anglican Church and so other mainstream Christian protestant denominations have to hold their meetings in the only one Anglican church.

They expect and demand the western countries allow Muslims in western societies to be governed by sharia laws (Canada being the first western nation to accede to this demand). They demand their prayers to be loudly broadcast from their minarets in western cities and communities. Yet one will never hear any church bells in most Muslim majority nations.

If you think that would appease these dogs (yes, Muslims, I know what that implies), you are wrong. They'll find some other excuse.... There are three major local players in Iraq. The minority Sunnis are backed by Saudi and would like to beat the shit out of the majority Shiites who are backed by Iran. The Kurds in the north are the ones happiest to see Iraq liberated from the evil Saddam Hussein and they are the ones who are most grateful to the US.

The US and the allies should just pull their military forces up north to protect the Kurds and just let the Sunnis and Shiites kill each other. They are doing that already in Pakistan. This way, it will tie up the resources of the Saudis and Iranians in their effort to secure their turf in Iraq (Iran-Iraq war redux and expanded) and reduce the finances and manpower for their terrorism elsewhere. Let the Sunnis and Shiites militants kill each other, the world would be a safer place without them – that is what they want to do, why should US and the allies stop them from doing so? Oil? Well the Saudis and Iranians will be more than willing to sell their oil for the western weapons to kill each other. Refugees? Let the Muslim nations and ummah take care of their own troubles that’s what the Muslim countries want anyway. USA may even become more popular as the warring parties try to out maneuver each other.

This move will free the western allies’ resources to guard their own borders and help the friendly nations who really appreciate and welcome them. The freed resources can be used to make sure that any nation that supports terrorism that affects their interest will be bombed away by the superior smart weapons of the west.

Of course Turkey will not be very happy that the Kurd will be happy, but the prospect of an unhappy Turkey is surely better and easier to handle than the present situation. When the Kurds were protected during Saddam days, the economy in Kurdish north thrived despite the sanctions. A thriving Kurdish enclave is much more viable as a beacon of “Muslim democracy” that Bush wanted for Iraq. Hopefully when the dust settles in the civil/proxy war in the rest of Iraq, the militants will be exhausted and loose their attraction in the Muslim world.

If he and his countrymen had stood up like this to Saddam then the current action would not be taking place. The apparent vast number of people who are having knee-jerk reactions to just visuals they see in the media (and let all their 'thinking' be done for them by the likes of blowhard Sean Hannity) should REALLY do some learning on their own.

Just to point out some FACTS:

* - the Iraqis in the prison were DETAINEES, many of whom were released because they were not guilty of anything (you sadistic moron, Sen. Inhofe!)

* - the detainees were not ONLY stripped nude and made to think they could be tortured, but some were attacked by 'guard dogs' and many had other injuries apparently sustained at the prison (so enough with the "they were just toying with them" talk!)

* - in the Muslim world, what WAS done to the detainees can be considered by many to be worse than death and as torture (so enough with the "it wasn't that bad" talk!)

If people aren't even going to try to understand an issue for themselves, it's hard to put any validity in what they have to say about it.

They were responding to the mass murder, rapes and pillaging of the Muslims who came out of the desert in the late 7th century and destroyed many Christian (and non Christian) communities, killing people in the hundreds of thousands. While it may be tempting to see the Crusades as the ultimate horror done on the Muslims by Christians, at least place your comments in the proper historical context first.

I've read all of the comments on this board over the last hour or so. In comment I have to say some of your comments have sickened me almost as much as the video of that poor mans execution did.

I'm not Jewish, I'm not a Muslim, I sometimes wonder whether I'm a christian, but none of these religions condone the actions of people in iraq. Whether it be Jewish or Christian teachings condoning the torture and humiliation in Abu Gharib, or Muslim teachings condoning the torture or execution of innocents.

Of course it can be argued for any text that under certain circumstances such things are allowed, but thats besides the point.

We cannot pretend that the US, or the UK of which I am a citizen is in iraq, solely for the good of its citizens. There is one reason our governments have troops in that country and it is oil. The fact that the invasion removed Saddam Hussein, an evil dictator from power at the same time is just a bonus (one that I in fact supported and still do support the war for).

But that is the KEY point, this is a war, and not a stand up fight. Lots of americans would probably love to have a stand up fight with all of these Jihadi's in the middle east. Many might think the militants there are cowards for not giving them one. When you're facing a force like the Coalition though you don't really have much of a choice but to resort to tactics like they have. That is not to say I condone terror tactics, I don't. But looking at it from the perspective of an iraqi muslim who considers the US to have considerable anti-muslim political agendas; whose country has been invaded and occupied by the US, minor revolts, ambushes are to be expected. From the more ruthless and fanatical elements, executions suicide bombings will be run of the mill. These people view what they do as the only response to an overwhelmingly powerful occupying force. I think most of us, put into a similar position would react in a similar fashion, and I think we all need to think about that.

In response to arguments about inequalities between how islam is treated in the west as opposed to how christianity and judaism is treated in the west, remember this: Citizens of our nations in the US and the UK have every right to be Muslim just as much as Christian or any other religion. Just because people may be Muslim does not mean they necessarily ascribe to right wing muslim teachings, or have any ties to fundamentalist governments anywhere else in the world. In our countries muslims are our neighbours, and fellow citizens and have every right to express their beleifs as we do.

Using weapons of mass destruction is not the compleate answer. It is clear that our govenment needs to take radical action on the muslim world, but nuclear weapons, at this time is probobly not the best choice. I would rather they use up some of the huge surpluss of conventional weapons they currently have in stock. Nuking a country now, as aposed to during WW2 would cause the rest of the world to side against us. Muslims have been a global problem from the begining of there creation. If you people are so against muslim terrorists, then why dont any of you stand up against what is taking place in Kosovo. In Kosovo, albanian muslim terrorists have destroyed over 140 christian churches and forced out or killed over 220,000 serbian christians. This is all taking place under the watchfull eye of the U.S. army with the support of the U.S. and with our tax payers money. I just saw the video in its entirety and all I can say is what a bunch of sick fucks,,, they're not even human...the poor man did nothing to deserve this except want to help rebuild the country. I've not actually seen it stated that al-Zarqawi is even an Iraqi citizen, merely that the murder was carried out in reference to US actions in Iraq. According to CNN, al-Zarqawi fled to Baghdad following injuries sustained in Afghanistan, so there's not really much of a basis for blaming the iraqi people for this attrocity, as far as I can see. This is the select action of an Al Qaeda splinter cell led by a madman.

With regard to the silence of the Muslim communities, I can't speak for foreign nations, but I have known more than a few muslims in the UK and I don't beleive they would condone this action in the slightest. As for other Muslim nations such as Iran and or Syria, well, yes you're probably right, they more than likely do support this crime. Nick Berg was a man who lived by his convictions; he was pro-Bush and pro- war in Iraq, and had the guts to go there. His death was a truly barbarous act. thats the point - who is starting killing people and who is been attacked first... thats a question you will never get a right answer! the only answer can be to stop wars and killing - stop producing new weapons - stop searching for new weapons which only function is to kill humans!

the us have at the moment the most powerful army, but they force others countrys to search for new powerful weapons to have something for defense - and what will happen when they invent something that will be strong enough that the us will have nothing for defense against it... what will happen then... the only solution is to make peace!

While I understand the extreme passion of all who are posting here, I truly don't think the answer to this problem is Nuking anyone. I fear that is the direction things are going, but I cannot condone such an idea. Anyone who has been exposed to film footage taken after the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki will understand what I mean. Such a policy will be like killing the patient to prevent his/her temperature from rising above 102 degrees F. It is simply not a decent, nor humane, solution.

That being said, I believe that something along the lines of a Dresden bombing will have to take place in the Sunni triangle. We need to go to the place where the radicals are and, if necessary, go house to house and kill the worst of the terrorists; if that isn't possible, then bombs (non nuclear) will have to fly. And, all of this is very sad.

Despite what some people think on this site, I cannot believe that every Arab/Muslim is evil and should be treated as cannon fodder. There are good people there as well as the bad. Unfortunately in war it is extremely difficult to pick out the real enemies from the assumed enemies. This is why there is so much "collateral damage." It isn't always possible to tell who is who in the middle of a gunfight. So, good as well as bad will die together. :-(

As for the Muslims who complain about the problems that Americans have "caused," I think that is a bit of a stretch. We may have contributed to some already existing problems in the region, but the truth of the matter is that most of the oppression you complain about is brought on by your leaders and your own governments. Many of the Palestinian's troubles are created and inflamed by their leadership. If Yasser Arafat and his ilk truly cared about his people, he wouldn't have stolen a hundred or so million dollars when he moved into the West Bank several years back and put it into a private Swiss bank account; he would have used the money for the purpose it was given by the Europeans and the United States - to build up the economy and infrastructure of his community. This is but the smallest example of the atrocities that Arab leadership perpetrates upon it's people. They oppress them and then play a shell game with those beneath, redirecting their rage to a convenient target - such as the U.S. or Israel.

I thank God each and every day that I was born in America. While I may not completely agree with some of the things our government does, I whole-heartedly support our President and most of all, all of the men and women who serve in our armed forces as well as those of our allies. I know that anyone who was involved in the prison abuse scandal will be dealt with and receive a severe punishment for their acts. I can't imagine the horror or pain that Nick Berg or any victim experiences during their last few minutes of life, but I do know that they are with our Lord now and nothing will ever hurt them again. Will the world ever know peace? It's not likely as long as people continue to hate their brothers and sisters because of their skin color, their religion or the language they speak. I pray that God will Bless Us All! May all of those innocent people who die in vain around the world at the hands of a terrorists or murderers find the peace and love that couldn't be found here on earth.

Nukes aren't necessary. They should only be a last resort. We don't need them to defeat anyone over there.

I just thought of something which I don't recall has already been mentioned here on the posts or not, but if these Isalmic asses who killed Nick Berg were so proud of who were they were and what they were doing, why not show their faces for the world to see? They proudly videotaped his murder and held his head up for the camera yet they hide behind masks? The American soliders who were photographed with the Iraq prisoners didn't hide their faces, I guess it just goes to show you that Americans aren't afraid to show themselves in some instances. I hear that Islam is a peaceful religion yet nothing that has been shown is peaceful. I have met Muslims since 9/11 and they are wonderful people. They work hard and believe America to be their home and are PROUD to be Americans. WE should not hate all Muslims, only those who prove to us that they hate America and what America stands for. What many of you are advocating is much more horrific than the murder of one innocent man, its the widespread slaughter of millions of innocent men women and children, you want to compare anything to a racist or nazi attitude, there it is. I had a few of my posts deleted last night. But you know what?, I'm glad they were. I got so enraged about what happened to Nick Berg, and the fact that we had some Jihadi supporters on here gloating over the barbaric actions against Americans, that I crossed a moral line.

I'm still infuriated over what happened, and would love a chance to inflict American justice on these cold-blooded killers. But if we make this site look like a Muslim hate site, it's going to be used by them and portrayed as a racist site, which it's not.

Radical Muslims will keep doing what they do in front of the world, and their supporters will continue to boast and brag about it, with that, their end will come sooner than we all have hoped. In sports, it's called trash talkin', which is usually done by the less talented competetor in order to obtain a psychological edge.

However, insurgents/terrorists are dying every day over in Iraq by the dozens, they're also dying by the dozens in Afghanistan, Israel/Palestine and elsewhere. They are losing badly, so they talk a big game.

Americans and their allies (true allies) are more intelligent, more sophisticated, more morally and ethically sound, and more powerful. We will win this war, again, if we keep our eyes open. Blind rage is dangerous. America will not be defeated by a horde of miserable third and fourth worlders.

We're better as a people, and have to display that for the good of this war.....which again, we will win. The world is seeing what Islamic extremists will stoop to, and they don't want to be around it.

Radical Islam WILL lose this fight they started with the civilized world. America has not yet unleashed her power, and they radicals better realize that very soon, or they will learn a very deadly lesson in respect, which has already begun. In our own yard, groups like CAIR need continuous monitoring because they advocate the manipulation of our own freedoms to benefit their cause.

There are other groups like them that are trying to crawl into prominence right under us. This must stop. All of our Government officials by now should be aware of this agenda, and if they're not, they must be made aware of it.

I'm not convinced on the religion of peace logo of Islam either. However, I'm not the one that needs to prove it, they need to prove it to us. They're on American soil, and need to respect American culture and values, period. No special treatment for Muslims, none.

They expect it, and sometimes demand it, well, too bad. This isn't Arabia, it's America. Again, Government representatives need to know we're out here and we're not happy with the fact that organizations like CAIR are still in existence.

We're now choking Syria off, as well we should. Canada, is becoming a lost cause with regard to the pandering they do with Muslims. (No offense to my Canadian friends that post on this site, as they are certainly anti-Jihad).

Regarding Europe, I personally feel that the U.S. and Russia need to form a better bond. Mr. Putin isn't fooling around with terrorists attacking his country, he'll finish them off, violently.

Yes Islam has a major component of hate built into it. The main problem, however, is that the vast majority of its followers are impoverished and oppressed by their own governments. All they have is Islam and it readily provides them with a scapegoat to hate.

As far as Palestinians...the are none. The name comes from Palastine which was invented by the Romans as a way to humiliate the Judeans by ignoring their name for their country. There were no Arabs there at the time and not for many centuries. Even after the arrival of the Arabs during the forced spread of Islam, there were no Palestinians. The current use of the term Palestinians originated in the 20th century as a way to describe Arabs that were not claimed by Jordan. They are not a nation.

Israel doesn't simply have a claim because Jews once lived there 2000 years ago. The have lived their for at least 3000 years and there has always been a Jewish presense in that land. Never in 3000 has there been no population of Jews in Israel or Jerusalem.

I don't see how you can say that Nick Berg died swiftly and mercifully. His screams would indicate otherwise. His captors meant it to be that way. A usual beheading under Sharia is very quick and with an experienced swordsman. Death is instant. To saw off his head with a knife can hardly be a valid comparison. Anyways, to compare his death to the 'torture' of 'innocent' Iraqi prisoners is assinine. I'm sure if he was given te choice, he would have much rather had a bag put over his head, stripped naked and photographed after not sleeping for days. The worste American torture can hardly compare to the most mild form of torture applied by the Muslims. That so many Muslims see it as an equalitable act is nothing more than a visible symtom of the problem facing the world. Those who cite Malaysia and such as examples of peacefull Islamic countries, seem to be forgetting the rising tide of Islamic extremist murder in the Philipines, Indonesia and other South Asian countries.

While Christianity isn't witout its own violent past, you should look at its main spheres of influence. North America, South America and Europe are very peacefull regions relative to the Islamic world. We aren't perfect but I would feel a whole lot safer here than there. If Israel would disapear tomorrow, the violence in the Middle East wouldn't. They have many enemies and a lot of hate for others. Just look what Iran and Iraq did to each other, or Iraq and Kuwait, or Iraq and the Kurds [funny how Iraq keeps popping up].

During the birth of civilization things weren't much different. Egypt and Greece built nations, but Iraq never got past warring city states. The greatest atrocities of the time were the ones committed by the Assyrians, Babylonians and Summerians.

This is just a very violent place and its not going to change.

I see that you censored my comments posted late last night after I spent 4 hours surfing the web to try to find the vid clip everyone in the world was allowed to freely see except us Americans. Who is it that thinks they are so much better than us hard working honest Americans, that they can censor our opinions? Why is it easier for a dark-hearted radical muslim, to find this clip and gloat over the spilling of this man's American blood, than it is for me to view it? Every website it appeared on, had apparently pulled the clip from being viewed by my yankee computer before I could find it! Site after site after site! But I persevered....do you know why?

For historical reference, see the Hundred Years War, Bloody Mary, Ireland, the Spanish Inquisition, the founding fathers of America, and so on...

The video should be watched. I don't like it, but its necessary. When Americans and westerners think of a 'beheading' we picture guillotines or a choping block and an experienced executioner with a nice sharp sword. We need to see what we are up against. As far as Palestinians...the are none. The name comes from Palastine which was invented by the Romans as a way to humiliate the Judeans by ignoring their name for their country. There were no Arabs there at the time and not for many centuries. Even after the arrival of the Arabs during the forced spread of Islam, there were no Palestinians. The current use of the term Palestinians originated in the 20th century as a way to describe Arabs that were not claimed by Jordan. They are not a nation.

Israel doesn't simply have a claim because Jews once lived there 2000 years ago. The have lived their for at least 3000 years and there has always been a Jewish presense in that land. Never in 3000 has there been no population of Jews in Israel or Jerusalem.

I don't see how you can say that Nick Berg died swiftly and mercifully. His screams would indicate otherwise. His captors meant it to be that way. A usual beheading under Sharia is very quick and with an experienced swordsman. Death is instant. To saw off his head with a knife can hardly be a valid comparison. Anyways, to compare his death to the 'torture' of 'innocent' Iraqi prisoners is assinine. I'm sure if he was given te choice, he would have much rather had a bag put over his head, stripped naked and photographed after not sleeping for days. The worste American torture can hardly compare to the most mild form of torture applied by the Muslims. That so many Muslims see it as an equalitable act is nothing more than a visible symtom of the problem facing the world. Those who cite Malaysia and such as examples of peacefull Islamic countries, seem to be forgetting the rising tide of Islamic extremist murder in the Philipines, Indonesia and other South Asian countries.

While Christianity isn't witout its own violent past, you should look at its main spheres of influence. North America, South America and Europe are very peacefull regions relative to the Islamic world. We aren't perfect but I would feel a whole lot safer here than there. If Israel would disapear tomorrow, the violence in the Middle East wouldn't. They have many enemies and a lot of hate for others. Just look what Iran and Iraq did to each other, or Iraq and Kuwait, or Iraq and the Kurds [funny how Iraq keeps popping up].

During the birth of civilization things weren't much different. Egypt and Greece built nations, but Iraq never got past warring city states. The greatest atrocities of the time were the ones committed by the Assyrians, Babylonians and Summerians.

This is just a very violent place and its not going to change.

You are right. If Iraq finishes like Japan and Germany then I will be a very happy man. I agree with most of what you say. However, I think that Islamic militants are the KKK of Islam, at least in a way. Burning people at the cross is a very painful and prolonged way to kill them. It does America credit that even though the Islamic militants have started summary and unjust executions, there are no lynch mobs in America. Certainly there are fools who call for them, but the formation of lynch mobs has not yet happened.

I also had one other thing to add. The deliberate targeting of civilians is an old and traditional way to wage war, and not just amoung the guerillas of the world. The British and Americans have their own horrific examples: they fire-bombed Hamburg and nuked Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

I'm really shocked at this whole situation, as I'm sure many people around the world are. I hope though, that American's don't use this as an excuse to enforce war in Iraq. It brings tears to my eyes just to think of all the blood shed for nothing of importance - just to satisfy anger and resentment against millions of people who have done nothing to us personally. I think the people who beheaded Burg should be punished, but I also think that everyone could learn a thing or two from this.

Unlike many countries whose geographic borders and history forces them to coexist with other nation neighbours, the US could choose a more isolationist course - get out of the rest of the world, stop trying to police other nations, stop selling to them, stop buying from them, and retreat back to "fortress America" and stand as united as they wish.

The recent events in Iraq are abhorrent and totally unwarranted. But that applies to both the fundamentalist "execution" and the US "interrogation" methods.

When will Americans realise that they cannot force the rest of the world to adopt American values nd American points of view - other nations - extreme and moderate - have their cultures, histories and world views, and many of them will often be very different from those of the US. Americans must realise that however unwarranted, abhorrent or barbaric the attacks and executions to which their citizens have been subjected may be, these events reflect how some people outside the US perceive the motives and methods of America - the US is paying the price for several decades arrogant and ignorant foreign policy.

And before anyone flames me for the above words, I am not anti-American - quite the opposite - but like many Europeans I have seen the tragic folly of countless US administrations that have failed to realised the the world has moved on and changed since the US acheived the moral high ground by it's courageous and selfless support of its allies during two world wars.

To many other nations, US foreign policy appears to be self serving, arrogant and short sighted. America should protect its interests at home, and discard its interests in those parts of the world where the culture, values and politics are incompatible with those of the US. Then the dictators, terrorists and fundamentalists would have no incentive to direct their barbarism against the US.

But maybe that is also too high a price for America to pay? But then, just look at the alternatives, most of which have been tried, and see where that is getting the world.

I can't believe how reactionary and idiotic you people are. Do you think these people are barbaric animals? Can you say you wouldn't do the same in their situation? Religious beliefs aside, let's take a look at how we came to be in Iraq:

Iran-Contra scandal. The U.S. has been supplying Iraq and Saddam Hussein with weapons to promote war between Iran and Iraq.

Pappy Bush makes a deal with the Saudi Royal Family to secure a stable source of oil for the US and to make the royal family even more filthy stinking rich. Of course making the Bush clan richer in the bargain.

U.S. military begins training Islamic fundamentalists such as Osama Bin Laden in military tactics and supplies them with military-grade weapons to expel Soviets from Afghanistan.

Gulf war comes along, Saddam loses, the UN imposes sanctions on the country. Oil stops flowing out of Iraq except on the black market efectively destroying their total GNP gained from exports.

Islamic fundamentalists begin to target the US as their arch emeny because our media glamorizes many things their faith tells them are mortal sins: promiscuity, infidelity, women's independence, etc.

Baby Bush become president. There are indications that a major terrorist attack will occur on Sept 11th.

Sept 11th. Thousands of innocent people die, and Bush's first thought is that its a perfect opportunity to invade Iraq. Starts a crusade against terrorists.

U.S. Intelligence gets some questionable info that Iraq has "weapons of mass destruction." Bush jumps on it and starts whipping up the UN with talk of invasion. The UN decides to send weapons inspectors into Iraq.

Saddam Hussein, sovereign military leader of a Middle Eastern country is served with demands to allow weapons inspectors full access to his country.

I'll stop here a second. This isn't a democracy as we all know. Now, if Saddam jumps up eager to obey the UN, his own troops will turn on him, seeing him as a lapdog of the West. After token resistance he allows the inspectors access to Iraq.

Bush is probably very pissed by now. He knows there are probably no weapons of mass destruction. If he gives the UN enough time, they will know that too. He presents the UN with an ultimatum: either support our war or we will go against UN wishes. UN stands firm, US declares war on Iraq and initiates hostilities against Iraq!

Yes folks, we started it!

So here's the quick end: We start a war that all Iraq knows is based on falsehood. We change our minds, and instead of finding weapons of mass destruction, we are now "liberating" Iraq. We strip Iraq of its leader and begin an occupation. For what reason? Apparently, Iraqis are too stupid to form their own government and we have to treat them like children and "guide" them along the golden path of democracy!

The real problem: We had no moral or legal ground to invade Iraq. There are no signs of any weapons of mass destrcution, and our closes ally in the middle east is Saudi Arabia, ruled by a monarchy (aka dictatorship). We have invaded their contry, and apparently their quality of life has decreased since the occupation, with rampant unemployment and a stop to most commerce.

If an army came into your home town, took away my livelihood and made me unable to support my family, I'd be pretty pissed too. If i had to watch my kids grow thinner and thinner for lack of proper food, I'd do anything it takes to try to make things right. Religion aside.

It is time for our President to stop being a politician and be a leader. Stop killing the morale of your troops over some photo games on the prison. The beheading of an innocent man is NOT acceptable. NUKE the muslims, set the example for other fanatic nations and teach all terrorists to respest us.

To the Europeans out there posting, I know many are against the war and do not understand. One thing I've noticed about Europeans is they don't have the sense of pride in their country such as Americans do, like one of the students said to me, " We do not care if someone burns our country's flag, it does not bother us." Another thing is the lack of history of the U.S. they seem to understand. The call the U.S. a "colonial" power, out to over take the world, if that was true why did we return the Japan, The Philipines, West Germany, Italy, and many other countries back to the control of their people? And if I remember right....This was after things like the Marshall Plan were put in place to rebuild Europe, are you saying that the U.S. did not do a good job at rebuilding after WW2? I see that the Germany economy especially boomed because of it's post war relationship with the U.S.
One of my favorite quotes from a European is "we are very diverse". This is because in Europe they can tell in no time if you're a tourist and where you're from. But when I'm at work I get people of every race/background in my store, and because of the large influx of immigration and diversity in the U.S. I am not able to tell you if they are tourist or if they are a bonified citizen, there's just no way to tell, we have no national language, and everyone keeps most of their herritage intact.
Also remember all the humitarian missions the U.S. has sponsored or played a major role in, especially with the U.N. Just think if the U.S. pulled out of the U.N.? There would be no "Security Force" the European nations are too timid to commit more troops or money because they are too afraid to go against public opinion sometimes and just do what is right.

My hopes and Prayer goes to the Family of Nick Berg for this difficult time, and I hope that Nick will be in a better place now.

I can't blame why people don't understand and dislike the religion of Islam (Muslim). It's seems like this religion doesn't teach enough Kindness, instead, only to teach the follower on how great the religion is, and to be proud of it.

I have lot's of Christian friends, and Muslim friends, but the difference between the two really shows when it comes to loving your neighbors, helping someone in need, pray for you enemy, and forgive. The muslims people I've known, seems to show very little kindness and to almost never.

I'm not just saying this to offend anyone, and I'm sorry if I offended someone outhere. But, if I did, I guess people who are offended must feel that there is a single truth to what I just said.

to back up my statement: I have a friend who were borned Muslim, and still practice the religion. He told me the other day that he prayed for somebody to lose their job and another person to have a bankrupcy. I asked him why he would pray like that, he said because these people deserved it for what they did to him, and how "Aullah" will get them back.

What I don't get is how much hypocrisy there is here. I'm muslim and in no way do I defend the Taliban or Al-Quaeda at all. I think that they are terrorists and must be stopped. But why is everyone here saying that Islam is the core root of terrorism? I mean when others say the US Army is bad for the Iraqi torture pictures, you guys say that you can't blane the Army for a small majority of troops, but then you blame Islam for a small minority of Muslims.

Not all Muslims are terrorists and murderers, I feel ashamed to say that some are, but I don't get why there is so much abuse here and in other places of Islam, it teaches peace, and to love, but just because some crazy guy decides to misinterpret the Qu'ran and go gun crazy, Islam is automatically to blame.

The way of the Al-Quaeda is not the way of Islam, no matter what they say, the Al-Quaeda will go straight to Hell in the eyes of Islam for taking Innocent lives, what they are doing is wrong in Islam, but everyone seems to think that it is the way of Islam.

If you can say that the Al-Quaeda represents Islam, then I ca say that the KKK or the Nazi party represents Christianity. You can't blame the actions of the a small twisted minority on the majority.

I saw the pictures of the beheading and was very hurt for bergs family,and also i am very disappointed in those whom abused the prisioners in iraq and I am embarrassed as an american mother who has a son whom will be going into the military this month a son whom i know wants peace for those over in iraq and a peace that those people can be free from those that want to defend continued hatred and evil in the name of god. In every human being there is good and evil, in history the all jews were blamed by "CERTAIN groups" in christianity for killing jesus whom was jewish,
in all religions there are radicals and there are those who choose a peaceful route, America was formed by some people who were escaping religiuos persecution but also being formed there were many who came here and commited harsh crimes against those indians and against christians and jews who were here escaping religious persecution , but in the same respect the indians also killed innocent people whom just wanted peace, also in history muslims and christians and jews and muslims have fought each other and christians have killed their own jews have killed their own and muslims have killed their own, until "we all" realize we came from the same seed and be at peace with our own religions and beliefs and stop using god as an excuse for why we act out toward our brothers with anger ,we will never have peace and to those who say nuke Iraq if back when america was being formed and the abuses were done to many if someone back then decided to end it all by nuking and destroying many innocent along with the guilty , many of us alive today would not be here ,just as if iraq is nuked becouse of the sins of certain ones innocent will die. I personaly feel there has to be a better way and america is leading this war and i feel we should be held to a higher standard and set the example ,punish those who disrespected our country by doing cruel things to the prisioners and deal with those whom beheaded berg. and continue on with their goal. but those who say nuke iraq are only continuing hatred and fueling the fire. I am a christian i have muslim friends whom are very loving and friendly people and i have jewish friends whom are the same. if we all trace our history back we will find our ancestors may have been jewish may have been christian may have been muslim hindu ect...... Stop killing in the name of God and stop using god as an excuse to abuse and control others let people live together in peace and worship god the way they need to we all will answer to our maker alone and god alone will be judge (we have muslims fighting on our side and in the world trade center muslims christians and jews and others died we all were affected)

I don't see why we can't all get along. I've got many friends of all nationalities that get on fine, I've got many muslim, hindu, christian, jewish, buddhist, black, asian and white and we all get along.

People should just learn that the world cant be percieved as black and white, you cant just say whats right and wrong, or who's right and wrong.
