From CNN, with thanks to Jeffrey Imm:

(CNN) -- Turkish officials say police have foiled a bomb plot targeting a NATO summit in Istanbul that will be attended by world leaders including U.S. President George W. Bush.

Police detained at least 16 members of Ansar al Islam, a terrorist organization linked to al Qaeda, the governor of Bursa province said in a statement Monday.

Otuzkaan Koksal said police confiscated a large number of weapons and bomb-making materials in the raid in Bursa, 250 kilometers (160 miles) south of Istanbul.

He said officers seized about 4,000 CDs featuring training instructions from al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.

Koksal said Ansar al Islam had planned to carry out more attacks on U.S. troops in Iraq after the June 28-29 NATO summit.

NTV television said some of those held had already taken part in the insurgency in Iraq.

Is this to imply that there are at least 4000 of these people out there? I bet he used Bill Gates technology to write to the cd's. Once again the hippocracy is in full view as the muslims murderers benefit from western technology that they are slating.

Incidently, did the cd's have any pictures of people on them?

Not to mention: electricity, running water, cars, airplanes, computers, flushing toilets, paper to wipe your ass with, and everything else that the west and aisa have invented/discovered. If it's not in the qur'an they are not permitted to use it! How's that for being hypocritical. Of course they would still be eating sand and living in tents if it were not for western technology. This is one of many reason's that they hate us. They have yet to add anything good or positive to the rest of the world.

Why CIA doesn't use the same tactics in Iran or Syria? Why I do not see any plan of CIA or WHATEVER AMERICAN ORGANIZATION THAT CAN BE to distribute George Bush's speeches about freedom and democracy translated to arabic or farsi (not a must) in iran and arabian states on cd or dvd?

It seems terrorists are usig western technologies to promote their hatred while the westerners themselves are unable to deploy their own technology in the sake of democracy in the middle east.

Wake up ! (again, another message from an iranian)

Yes, Kianb, I agree with you, it would seem more should be done to educate people on what does a democracy look and feel like, etc. Many people in Iraq (and other non-democratic countries) don't have any way of knowing why it would be better or what to fight for, but instead, just follow the rhetoric of the imams, etc. Assuming you can get past the distribution problem of either cds or pamphlets, the more that the people can be slowly educated. A saying in business is "it's a numbers game", meaning the more you are exposed to a thing, a product, a piece of information, the more it sinks in, in the back of your mind. I hear they are smuggling alchohol back and forth across the borders there, so why not smuggle in a little education.

Off topic -- BBC Discovers Nigeria! Yes, the BBC has really scoured the countryside and has found that Nigeria has a problem with religious intolerance:

They went right to the scene and came back with heart-rending interviews from nice Muslem folks who have been victimized by Christian militancy.
