A photo of Berg taped on his mailbox at home
US officials are denying the Berg family's claims. From AP:
BAGHDAD, Iraq - An American civilian who was beheaded in a grisly video posted on an al-Qaeda-linked Web site was never in U.S. custody despite claims from his family, a coalition spokesman said Wednesday. ...But unanswered questions remained about Berg in the days before he vanished, as well as where and when he was abducted.
Berg spoke to his parents March 24 and told them he would return home on March 30, according to his family in suburban Philadelphia.
But Berg was detained by Iraqi police at a checkpoint in Mosul on March 24. He was turned over to U.S. officials and detained for 13 days, the family said.
His father, Michael, said his son was not allowed to make phone calls or contact a lawyer.
Coalition spokesman Dan Senor told reporters that Berg was detained by Iraqi police in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul. The Iraqis informed the Americans, and the FBI questioned him three times about what he was doing in Iraq.
Senor said that to his knowledge Berg "was at no time under the jurisdiction or detention of coalition forces."
However, calls by The Associated Press to police in Mosul failed to find anyone who could confirm Berg was held there. The U.S.-led Coalition Provisional Authority runs Iraq, controlling not only the police, but the military and all government ministries.
FBI agents visited Berg's parents March 31 and told the family they were trying to confirm their son's identity.
On April 5, the Bergs filed suit in federal court in Philadelphia, contending their son was being held illegally by the U.S. military. The next day, Berg was released. He told his parents he had not been mistreated.
Berg's father blamed the U.S. government for creating circumstances that led to his son's death, saying if his son had not been detained for so long, he might have been able to leave Iraq before the violence worsened.
"I think a lot of people are fed up with the lack of civil rights this thing has caused," Michael Berg said. "I don't think this administration is committed to democracy."
Asked for details about Berg's last weeks in Iraq, Senor replied: "We are obviously trying to piece all this together, and there's a thorough investigation." He said he was reluctant to release details but did not say why.
"The U.S. government is committed to a very thorough and robust investigation to get to the bottom of this," Senor said, adding that "multiple" U.S. agencies would be involved and that the FBI would probably have overall direction.
Senor said that in Iraq, Berg had no affiliation with the U.S. government, the coalition or "to my knowledge" any coalition-affiliated contractor. But Senor would not specify why Iraqi police, who generally take direction from coalition authorities, had arrested him and held him.
Brig. Gen Mark Kimmitt said the only role the U.S. military played in Berg's confinement was to liaise with the Iraqi police to make sure he was being fed and properly treated because "he was still an American citizen."
It was unclear whether al-Zarqawi was shown in the Web site video or simply ordered the killing. Al-Zarqawi also is sought in the assassination of a U.S. diplomat in Jordan in 2002, and Washington has offered a $10 million reward for information leading to his capture or killing.
Berg's father, brother and sister wept in their front yard Tuesday when told of the video.
"I knew he was decapitated before," said his father, Michael. "That manner is preferable to a long and torturous death. But I didn't want it to become public."
The father said "there's a better chance than not" that his son's captors knew he was Jewish. "If there was any doubt that they were going to kill him, that probably clinched it, I'm guessing," he said.
Amnesty International condemned the killing as "a serious crime under international law," and said those responsible should be brought to justice.
White House spokesman Scott McClellan said there was "no justification for the deliberate and brutal killing of an innocent civilian."
U.S. officials fear the savage killing might prompt more foreigners working on international reconstruction projects to flee the country. ...
Last month, Iraqi militants also videotaped the killing of Italian hostage Fabrizio Quattrocchi.
"Amnesty International condemned the killing as "a serious crime under international law," and said those responsible should be brought to justice."
That'll put an end to it!
Aaron said:
"Remember to do your civic duty and remove Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld in November. Put a responsible leader in the Whitehouse to deal with this debacle in Iraq."
Aaron,
If Kerry becomes President, how do you think he should deal with this debacle?
I'm not challenging you, but since I'm seeing similar comments more and more (and not being an American myself), I would be interested in hearing what those who are against Bush would do to set things in order?
Sometimes I wish the Israelis would simply stop worrying what the world will think and crush these vermin. If these snakes are left to continue and gain confidence MANY CHRISTIANS AND JEWS will suffer the same fate as Pearl and Berg. If this continues perhaps a posse of christians and jews should go in and kick some infidel ass. I am tired of this upstart religion .
I think that Aaron is crazy. Kerry is going to do nothing for this country. Just listen to the man, I don't have an SUV, all his lies. This incident with Nick Berg is disgusting and horrific, yet, the democratically controlled media in the United States chooses to play up the whole abuse to prisoners incident. Ironically, those prisoners were there for a reason and in my opinion, deserve what they got. Stacking a few naked prisoners in a pile or beheading an innocent citizen in Iraq? Which one seems worse to you? Things liek this can't be happening, which is why we are in Iraq. If Kerry gets elected, he is just going to pull the US out, leaving the country amuck. Civic duty? I don 't think so.
Aaron said: "Remember to do your civic duty and remove Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld in November. Put a responsible leader in the Whitehouse to deal with this debacle in Iraq."
Is it my civic duty to punish the president for the evil actions of Islamofascists? You must believe that the President and his cabinet either created or fomented the current situation in Iraq. So Rummy was over there personally telling people to do frat-boy antics with prisoners who had American blood on their hands or would if they could? Bush is responsible for the hatred that Islamic fundamentalism and the "kill them where you find them" Suras preach? You actually believe that the actions of a few people stain the honor of a whole country? And is it better to wait for another 9/11 to strike our shores? I thank God that cowards such as yourself are not responsible for American foreign policy and that we have mature adults who understand that the way to defeat terrorism is to kill it at its source, not to bury our heads in the sands and pay TRIBUTE to foreign powers, pleading for our protection.
I respectfully must disagree with Aaron's comment:
"Remember to do your civic duty and remove Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld in November. Put a responsible leader in the Whitehouse to deal with this debacle in Iraq."
Aaron, I agree that the current administration has done a LOT of things wrong, at home and abroad, and both before and after 9/11. With that being said, I have to look back at history for guidance.
Post-war reconstruction does not go smoothly, anywhere, at any time. Here in the United States, Reconstruction after the Civil War was a textbook example of profiteering, and a large reason there is still and undercurrent of animosity among Southerners towards "those damn Yankees" 139 years later. Post-war reconstruction in Germany and Japan lasted the better part of a decade. There is no historical precedent for a “magic bullet” to make this reconstruction any faster.
While Bush be making mistakes in Iraq, I’ve yet to see someone come up with a better plan. Aaron, I would like you to explain what you think Kerry would do different/better with his Iraqi foreign policy.
Aaron is sadly mistaken. Jihadists have done precisely the same thing long before Iraq - has he already forgotten Daniel Pearl? Well before that, Jihadis killed a Norwegian tourist in Kashmir in similar fashion - garrotting his throat - in 1996 ostensibly to bring that to the attention of a somnolent world - of course nobody paid any attention. Kerry may not pull the US out of Iraq but electing him instead of reelecting Bush is going to do nothing to thwart their bloodthirsty lust. These guys are sub-human and live in a time warp circa AD 700.
Jacoby, at the moment Israel has just announced "The gloves are off." There are no details as of yet, but apparently another attack - similar to the one in which six soldiers were killed - has happened again. There is talk about an aerial attack; but some are against it because the terrorists bring children out because they know we wouldn't do anything if there were children in the area. But convoys of tanks are going back in at this moment. For more details, go to www.israelnationalnews.com

"If Kerry becomes President, how do you think he should deal with this debacle?"
Kerry should, and most believe he will, approach Iraq completely as an international problem and work to get the UN in and the US out. Going into Iraq as a unilateral effort against the will of the world community, right or wrong, puts power, passion, and justification into the hands of insurgents. Instead of this being an effort of goodwill, because of Bush's strategy it is in the eyes of Arabs and muslims, and effort of USwill and is used as such by those who want power in the region.
Kerry should immediately work tirelessly to gain the trust, confidence, and participation of U.S. allies to form a real international coalition. Bush alienated our allies, Kerry needs to bring them in. The war not something that can now be avoided so the world has to deal with it. Noone in the world wants to deal with Bush, Rumsfeld, or Cheney unless they are small enough to need some cash or want some politcal benefits, endorsement into NATO, oil contracts, or protection treaties.
Bush and his cabinet believe that since we have been attacked that we have moral and patriotic duty and justification to impose our will thru force. In the case of the Taliban and Afghanistan, there is a defensive and moral justification to defend the US on their soil. In Iraq... noone is quite sure what the moral and defensive justifications are. They seem to conveniently change over time to suit the needs of the Bush administration.
Bush believes that the end justifies the means. America was founded on principals that are the opposite. The means must come first. Soverignty, human dignity, morality, and freedom are all being desecrated in Iraq, Guantamo Bay, and in the U.S. - Bush, Rumsfeld, and Cheney have convinced themselves that they are patriots, but the founding fathers and historical moral leaders of America would see them as enemies of all that is good about America.
100 years from now history will put Bush in league with the bad guys of all time.
Kerry is not a savior. He is just another politician and long time public servant, but he is more than capable to run the country and to reverse the trend of horrible mistakes that have been made by this administration.
Aaron~ You mean the same UN that stood by while in Rwanda while two million people were slaugtered?
The same UN that is running things in Kosovo, that stands by while the killings continue 4 years after that war, and one of their own shoots two of our US forces there?
The UN that profited quite a bit by the Food-for-oil program that it let get so badly corrupted?
How many more etc's would you like, Aaron?
And you want the UN in Iraq? May as well hand it over to Iran for subjugation.
Gary-
"You mean the same UN that stood by while in Rwanda while two million people were slaugtered?"
As if we cared? As if we ever cared about Saddam torturing Iraqis when he was our Ally? I seem to recall conservatives in America shouting down the liberals who wanted the US to get involved in Rwanda, not the other way around.
Stop making a fool of yourself repeating the talking point lies. The way things are going, Bush has handed Iraq over to Osama, when he meant to give it Chalabi. Couldn't even get that right.
gary seems la liberal and aaron buy into revisionist demoncrap history
Does anyone know the site of the footage of the beheading of the American or the main site of al-Qaida?
rememeber when clinton attacked the pharmocutical plant and the binladin camps I clearly rememeber "wag the dog" comments being fired at him by the republicans....
I have been looking for the website url for this mysterious alqaeda site where the tape was originally posted and have had zero luck
it might be alansar.biz
Aaron you need to take your drugs today! Frist the UN has no army. The EU has disarmed their people that is why Spain brought their troops home this is a War sad your head is still in the sand.
As for this Berg guy if some-one has video feed of the marches in the gaza and through out and Iraq I know I saw this guy Marching with the Arabs because of his beard is weird things don't add up about this guy the more I find.
I mean what Jew names their Child "dog" The Changing of all the collage but not finish-ing Many other things.
oh the video would fox feed or msmbc

"work to get the UN in and the US out"
That would be the UN that appears to run a sex slave operation in every peace-keeping mission it fields?
Or the UN that put the Sudan on its human rights commission despite the government of Sudan running a campaign of genocide?
Or the UN which let Cuban ambassadors attack another ambassador for daring to question the human rights record of the tropical gulag?
"I seem to recall conservatives in America shouting down the liberals who wanted the US to get involved in Rwanda, not the other way around."
The Clinton administration refused to use the word "genocide" to describe what was happening in Rwanda. They felt that using that word might mean they had to do something about it.
In other words, you recall incorrectly.
Aaron, I decided to read Kerry’s “Iraq plan for peace” on his web site, www.johnkerry.com to get it straight from the source.
As I understand it, phase one of Kerry’s plan is to try to convince NATO to get involved. These are the same countries that turned down a role in rebuilding Iraq earlier, and that are currently discussing pulling out (i.e. Spain, Italy) if they are engaged. NATO would also only make up a skeletal force even under Kerry’s plan, and would presumably be there more for political than practical reasons. Assuming that Kerry could engage these countries and have them pull an about-face, they wouldn’t provide much in the way of practical use, taking over areas (i.e. the northern Kurdish and border areas) that are already largely pacified. If someone was more partisan than I am, they would seem to have grounds to argue that this would be only a cosmetic change in Iraq, designed to make Kerry look good at home, with very little risk, or for that matter, practical results for the Iraqi people.
Phase two of Kerry’s plan (that I see you agree with) is to authorize a high commissioner for governance and reconstruction. This perplexed me, to be honest, because I thought that is what Paul Bremer had been spending his time on with the CPA. Then I read further that this would be a United Nations appointed position.
Without getting as indignant as others have, let me merely say that the United Nations has severely damaged their credibility through inaction in the Rwandan genocide and actively through their participation in the unfolding Oil-for-Food scam that seems to reach the highest level of the United Nations. And, as recently discussed extensively by others, the component nations of the UN don’t exactly have the best track record of human rights, and some (Syria, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, and Jordan, just to name a few) have a vested interest in destroying any hope for democracy in the region. In short, US efforts to build a democratic government are at odds with the goals of the nations Kerry is proposing safeguard the goals. Fox in the henhouse? I think it is readily apparent to anyone whose reason is not completely obscured by ideology.
Phase three is to launch a massive effort to build an Iraqi security force. Again, Kerry proposes UN and NATO involvement in the process, which for the same reasons listed above, is a failure-prone enterprise.
Perhaps most telling—or damning, depending on your point of view-- is the last line of that section:
“The creation of viable Iraqi security forces – military and police – is crucial to a successful exit for us and other international forces.”
Kerry shows a strong penchant for escaping Iraq. In his own words, he desires to turn our problems over to others and egress as soon as possible. There is no plan to stay until Iraq is a stable and functioning democracy. Kerry only shows a strong desire to leave.
Aaron, I don’t think I’m too far off the mark calling this a “cut and run” strategy, as enabling a US withdrawal seems to be his only goal. I find it very troubling that he does not once say he wants US forces to remain until we establish and stabilize a democratic government. Please, if you can provide evidence to the contrary. I’d love to be proven wrong.
With the appointment of Sudan to the Human rights com, UN reveals itself as a pawn of the Islamic states.
With the threats of Al qaeda hanging over it , it reveals that it had better tow the line of the Islamists or else.
That they are useless in dealing with world conflict goes without saying.
pity the sane Iraqis if they get their hands on Iraq.
Pity the americans if kerry wins. America will go back to the "lets hide terrorism under the carpet" days of the Clintons.
America will get one step closer to sha'ria law.
DO you remember what Hilary said on 911.
OH my god! its Bin Laden
How did she know that early?
I saw the video and I am absolutely stunned. This is disgusting and totally unacceptable. What about our own culture? We should protect it and if immigrants do not want to be part of it, they shouldn't come here. I have lived in many different cultures/countries. Has any one you ever tried putting up a Christmas tree in Saudi?...... And yet, we do everything to please these people and, because it is politcially correct, do everthing to accommodate them. Finally we will lose our own culture. Is this the kind of future we want for our children?
Steph, you write:
"Stacking a few naked prisoners in a pile or beheading an innocent citizen in Iraq? Which one seems worse to you?"
Lets try another version.
Slitting an American throat and removing his head posthumously(?), or raping Iraqi children. I'm sure you, or perhaps the "jihadists" will have an opinion.
You decide, I can't work it out myself.
Mr. Berg had no business being in Iraq. His murder was conducted by 5 persons who represent a larger sub-human group of criminals throughout the world.
I personally curse those responsible for this act of evil. May God the Eternal Father bless the Berg family and provide circumstances for the rooting out of terrorists everywhere.
Removing President Bush is not a viable solution. Mr. Kerry is spineless and would deal with Iraq the same way that Johnson did with Viet Nam. He would tie the hands of the military and that would cause the downfall of Iraq as a democratic country.
There is something very strange about the Berg beheading. Why was this idiot in Iraq? Would any normal civilian traipse around in a war zone, without business contacts? His expression was all wrong as he knelt in front of his captors. He behaved like a willing sacrifice. Why were his parents greiving in the front yard? Most people would be more private. The disturbing video is made even more disturbing by the bizarre public comments of the family. Very strange.
Kerry would handle Iraq just like he handles every other issue. John would test the polls every day and change policy to make himself look good. This self-serving prick has the morals of an alley cat.
Kerry believes that terrorism is a police matter. His idea of the 'international community' is France, Germany and the theives at the UN that still can't get Bosnia nor Kosovo under any semblance of control. John has spent way too much time with his patrician nose shoved up Theresa's French-Mozambique ass, intoxicated by her earthy scent. Funny what being a kept man will do.
The UN Army? Don't these liberals understand that the UN Army is the American Army wearing blue berets? Oh yes, with Fijian armor and a Ghanian Field Marshall. That should do the trick in Iraq. Throw in a UN Le Grande Highe Majestic Commissar with a French banker and we have the ticket for success.
The apparent purpose of liberals is comedy amusement for people with a brain. Thanks for the yucks Aaron.
Does anyone know why Mr. Berg was detained by the FBI? There are thousands of contractors in Iraq, why was he detained?
See attached report on the infiltration of islamic doctorine in the US education system http://www.copts.net/detail.asp?id=532. Something should be done about this.
For the Evangelists who say Muslims aren't condemning this horrible act. The most prestigious islamic institution, Al-Azhar, condemned Nick Bergs beheading.

I think you people are getting way off the target. You have to accept nick was a casualty of war. Go to an unjustified war and you deserve what you get. Actually i feel sorry for the american soldiers going to iraq and thinking it was a picnic to get this. These brainwashed men are getting it, and they dont even know the reason for the invasion of iraq.
All the US government are saying is democracy this democracy that, but they dont even know jack about democracy or freedom. Thats what you get. You cant even get out of Iraq, or else another dictator. They put themselves in a jam. They make it hell in iraq, and they cant fix it. Thank you america for imposing "democracy" in iraq, i dont know i could thank you
thanks
None of the people on the video had Jordanian accents! how the hell can this be the work of Al Zarqawi. Indepedent arabic translators have said that theres nothing about Al Qaeda. That's just a bunch of bull crap from the Bush Administration trying to build up support for the war. This smells like Mossad to me.
racist zionist? this site is pretty fair and robert isn't a racist,i am not one and the rest of the ushers on here aren't.
Yes from time to time the site does get the odd couple of racists from christians to muslims
I also have a brain and it seems to me you have no idea what go's on at this site and all of us being the same guy? That is just ridiculous
Everyone else has stopped visiting this site? it seems to me that there seems to be a lot of people posting
So get lost d'bhonhaeonbe
I have been visiting Islam online for a while, he with the funny name of d'bhonhaeonbe. Read the Fatwa section lately? If you ae a muslim and thinkthat site helps you in western eyes, then may God help you, becuase Allah sure isn't.
Tarek, even in this warzone, Iraqis now have more potable water, more medical supplies, more electical power, newpapers not owned by the government, and a right to peaceably dissent politically without being gassed.
Thnigs are still far from perfect, but it sure beats the way of life in Iraq of the past 30 years. Care to try and argue that point?
christians and muslums unite, well you have not read-ing the qur'an if you had you would know that killing all the Jews will bring you down like Saddamn
in the qur'an5:32 says " on that account: we ordain for the Children of Israel that if anyone slew a person-unless it be in retaliation for murder or mischief in the land it would be as if he slew all MANKIND: and if anyone saved a life,it would be as if he saved all MANKIND"
so if you want to bring Gods curse on your selfs like Saddamn and the germans did fine, but Americans are with Israel. You Tricked the Germans to do your dirty work because you know that God will cruse you like when he did when he saved the Jewish slaves and brought them out of egypt and brought death to your frist born,
I thought that Islam was a peaceful thing well you are call-ing for people death doesn't sound peaceful to me.
Remember we in America are not the French or Spain we Are Cowboys and Cowgirls.

George, the man on the tape claims to be al-Zarqawi, but it doesn't mean that he is. I'd like to see your sources for your claim of independent Arab translators. I'd also like to see your supporting evidence for blaming the Jewish state for this.
If you cannot provide impartial sources( and I'm fairly confident that you can't) it will seem pretty obvious to most of us here that you are anti-Semetic, and probably couldn't tell your Mossad from your Assad without considerable help.
I'll leave it to you to prove yourself, however.
I've read many of the comments at this website, and I agree with many and are appauled at others. WE NEED TO GET OUR FATHERS, MOTHERS, SISTERS, BROTHERS, AUNTS, UNCLES, COUSINS, AND CHILDREN OUT OF THIS COUNTRY. Although I don't sypathize with either the opposition or the coalition for the horrible acts they have both committed, our families should not have to sleep in fear. The cowboy at the head of our government needs to be dethroned. Donald Rumsfield needs to be fired. George W. Bush has destroyed the reputation of this country and he needs to be impeached, or when November comes along, voted out of office. I go to college, and I am afraid of the reinstitution of the draft. I would not want to have to flee from this country for my life.
As far as some of you in these posts, (I mean those that say "shoot the muslims", etc.) You all need to get a life. Open your blinded eyes to the realism of this situation. There was no reason that Mr. Berg had to die. If Bush is so adament that Hussein had weapons of mass destruction, lets see him send his family to fight in Iraq. Draft Jenna. Lets also remember, we WERE looking for Osama Bin Laden.
Vote for the war party this November- vote Democrat. I'm sorry it had to come to this, but Bush still thinks Islam is a religion of peace.
"...and probably couldn't tell your Mossad from your Assad without considerable help."
That's the funniest thing I've read all day! LMAO!
If you missed the XLNT article by Michael Coren on www.jihadwatch.com he wrote another column about Islam and violence, his archived story is on www.torontosun.com and at the top of the columnists page. He just got back from England and mentions the jihadists over there and
the overt preaching of hate by Imam's .
I have already said yesterday, killing any human being be it muslim or non-muslim, American or non-American, is not good and should always be condemned in strong terms and I reiterate it now.
Having said that even I say that knowing history of American govt. and its tactics, wouldn't you guys and gals think at least just once that Nick's killing is goverment's own drama to turn things around for itself keeping in mind all the bad publicity on media govt. has been facing since prisoners' abuse case. Do remember that even Nick's family is disputing govt. claims on number of things in regards to Nick's arrest and release by US forces in Iraq.
Regards
I havent been able to sleep since I have seen the video.Do not see the video unless u are sure u can take it.
I have lived in the Middle East & have known these people to know them too well. They live in the Middle ages & most live an unhappy life especially the women.Homosexuality & lesbianism is common for both males & females are dissatisfied.I have been in the health care & have come in contact with patients who tell me the truth.
THe Royals loot all the wealth & many Arabs are denied citizenship & most rights which some enjoy.
The problem is not Bush or Cheney. It is the belief that a stone age man or a middle age people can be brought to thre 21st century by force.
What we should do is stop all immigration from these countries so that they do not infest our lands. If labor is necessary make sure they believe in Judeo Christian values or are willing to take up these values.
Lets not lose valuable lives to bring Iraq or any country to the 21st century for it is not worth it.Let them live in the Dark ages as long as they do not enter our lands.

Istar, your prose was as good as your movie.
The more I read and hear about how our government and Bush are horrible leaders and that they caused all of these soldiers deaths it makes me angrier by the day. BUSH is a phenominal leader!! He may not always make the right decisions and he receieves a lot of crap for that, but at least he had the balls and courage to fight back against a force that terrorized us on our own soil. War is not perfect, but sacrifices must be made for freedom and GOOD....not EVIL that Islamic Extremists invoke on innocent civilians and the West. This video sickens everyone that watches it and for good reason, because most of us with any type of human morality and respect for life can see that these acts are not "jihad" or "for God." What type of God would reward you for killing yourself intentionally and slaughtering innocent civilians at the same time?? These individuals are being led astray in the "dark side" if you will because they are taught at young ages that there reward for killing and slaughtering and inflicting pain on innocent people will be rewarded when they are "martyred." I have Muslim friends and from what they have told me, the Koran is supposed to teach about peace and that "suicide" is condemned by Islam. These evil people use the Muslim religion to justify their evil deeds. They will not prevail. The American people will not back down and will accept these innocent killings. We must somehow stop the ingraining and teaching of small children to commit suicide and to torcher and murder innocent poeple because they believe they will be rewarded. If we do not do this, then more and more innocent lives will be lost and the Evil and Terrorism in the world will grow. For anyone who thinks that the US will be turned away, you can sit on it!!! I love my country and I am proud of every soldier and AMerican that defends her. Go Bush
Brandon, I think you hit the proverbial nail on the head. Bush has that rarest of political qualities called "courage."
Bob,
As I said in another post at ...archives/001917.php, it is too late to withdraw our troops. I understand that. However, in my opinion, we did not have business being there in the first place. Originally, good came around with our "invasion." In a story from the USA Today 5/13, Iraqis were originally welcoming us. However, we have overstayed our welcome. They want us out. What made me make my post was the ignorant attacks to innocent Muslims on this website. The American view of Islam, (Especially the JudeoChristian view) is very jaded.
What originally drew me to this page was the fact that I live very close to the Berg family, and wanted to prevent people using websites as a piggyback to show this horriffic video. I am an EMT, and have a strong tolerance for blood (I guess as an EMT, I should), however this family needs some closure. I did email Robert last night asking him to remove the links from posts on this website, and he felt like I did in removing them.
Anyway, the reason I made the post is because I do not agree with GWB. Ethics are very important to people, as they are to me. The attack on Mr. Berg was retalitory for the acts committed on hundreds of Iraqis from the Abu Gharib detention facility. If you get a chance, take a look at the USA Today from today. There are personal accounts of those who were held, and eventually released. I am not saying all these people are innocent. But in the same respect, not all of them are guilty either.
Bob,
2 Things
1. Mistake from the previous post, it was ...001916, not 000197, if you want to see it.
2. I also didn't realize something you said. I am not a coward, so get that Idea out. However, like I also said, ethics are important to me. Would you stand up and fight, for something you truly do no believe in? I do support the troops. Although I currently do not have any family there, I have friends that do. I support the troops, however I do not support the cause they are having to fight for.
Phil,
Let me see if I understand you correctly. Because your political beliefs are not always in line with that of the Commander in Chief, you feel that you have the right to turn your back on the obligation to your country to serve if the draft were reinstated?
Using your logic, any American should have the right to say, “Hey, that whole draft thing? Not for me. I believe X and the guy in the White House believes Y.”
I happen to drive by the Stony Lonesome Gate of the United States Military Academy every day. Their core principals are: “Duty. Honor. Country.” Notice the order. Duty is first. Country last.
It is important to note that the motto doesn’t say, “Duty, if I feel like it. Honor, if I agree with you. Another country if I don’t.”
You might want to read up on what the word “ethics” really means. And for the record, I didn’t directly use the word coward in my post. But if you think that is the word that fits, far be it for me to disagree.
I am real discusted with the people of America wanting to pack up and haul ass out of Iraq. Al-Qaeda has struck fear in the hearts and minds of America through cowardly inhumane acts. Hey....Maybe if we leave they wont blow up our buildings, kill for pleasure, extort America, hold your children hostage for political gain, poisen the waters, blow up schools........folks you are dealing with a satanic culture hidding in there tempels.
I say that we step up to the plate and demonstrate the true resolve of this nation, if that has marginal results, we up the annie and go for round two.
I am confident that order would be restored within a very short period.
Lets stop the paddy wach'in and start kicking ass..........!
