Algerian Islamic rebels declare war on foreigners

From Reuters, with thanks to Nicolei:

ALGIERS, June 13 (Reuters) - Algeria's leading Islamic militant group, which has ties to al Qaeda, has declared war on foreign people and companies in the oil-rich north African country, an Islamic website said on Sunday.

The "foreigners war statement" appeared shortly after the Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat (GSPC) claimed responsibility for killing more than a dozen soldiers in an apparent escalation of violence in the strife-torn country.

"The Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat decides...to declare war on everything that is foreign and atheistic within Algeria's borders, whether against individuals, interests or installations," GSPC leader Nabil Sahraoui said in a statement.

Hmmm. Seems a number of groups in various muslim (or wannabee muslim) countries, are declaring War. Those who oppose the writings here (non-muslims only, please), take note: Osama Bin Laden declared war on US long before Bush came into office. The movement that spawned OBL has existed since the 30's and had ties to Nazi Germany. The religous thinkers that created the movement in the 30's had 200 years+ of influence in the region, Loooooooooooong before the US had any interests there. Care to explain to us how Something that existed Before the United States is our fault? And will you 'Convert now, or fall forever?' (Funny how that new Riddick movie seems to have based their religous war zealots on Islam.) Or will you fight these bastards off?

We can understand a nationality preferring its own citizens over "foreigners," and wishing that inconvenient persons would return to their homelands. Remember that Islam has claimed all of rhe earth for Allah. Thus, where will we go to get away? To Mars? Not even Mars will be a haven from this murderous ideology as they will send us to Hell before allowing an esape. Not only the earth but the whole universe is Allah's and we aren't fit to exist in Allah's "world."

Hydrogen--then leave them to self-dhimmitude. Without oil, they are sand flies.

Nice to see the Muslims are still true to form no matter where they are!

the "religion of peace" strikes once again

Goddam! What took them so long? Were they waiting for the cue from Thailand?

No, Killshot, not "without oil"... it's "without trillions of petro-dollars from the US." I've often said that if not for the oil revenues in Saudi/N Africa, Islam would be about as influential as the Snake Handlers of Appalachia. There would be no money for madrassas, missions, WMDs. or jihads.

Remember that the next time you're filling up your SUV. And spare me the "drill ANWAR" arguement... the whole thing only has a three-month supply of oil.

Unfortunately I have to run errands: for Immigration, for the wedding...

But this report seems to contradict you, Keith. When I get the chance I will look up some more:

http://www.doi.gov/news/030312.htm

At the rate of production listed, it should take about.... 25 years to pump all that oil out. (granted the rate of production only gives 10% of US oil needs per day). And Any oil we get from our own reserves, or from Canadian oil sands (300 years! worth), is better than getting it from SA.

But this war on all foreigners was declared long ago. The Italian monks who had spent their lives in a vocation of charity, by living among the Muslim poor for decades, all had their throats slit in recompense (there is even a book about the monks of Tibirine). The French priests were all murdered long ago. It seemed strange, because none of these people ever dared attempt missionary work; they gave their lives only to help the Algerians.

Algeria is a monstrous place. For a brief period, roughly from 1828 to 1960, it had something like civilization, brought by the French and by French rule. It has now relapsed into its natural state of chaos and murder. Its only claim on our attention, like that of the other Muslim oil states, is that it sits on large amounts of oil and gas. Either we diminish the importance of that oil and gas, by quickly doing everything possible to find alternate sources and to diminish demand (which requires changing the sources of our own pleasures -- more chess and more attention to the right use of words, less attention to frenetically rushing about), or we seize the oil and gas, or we fund our own enemies, who wish to do to us, more or less, what was done to the Italian monks at Tibirine.

Ah Algeria....Yet another "wretched hive of scum & villany" with pretensions of religious righteousness...
I say we go renewable, get our oil from Canada, or elsewhere for the interim, and let these sad examples of humanity, and wastes of skin rot in the hell they create.

There are very few foreigners in Algeria. Since Islam is a religion of peace, there are only 12.000 Algerians killed by islamists on an annual basis. Not to mention the near extinction of the original local population the Kabiils (spelling?). No one cares about this statement, but please pay attention, this WILL spread into France (ex. 1996-1997), and it will effect the tourists trade in Morocco and Tunisia.

Slowly there is a concerning expansion of jihadist across the muslim world. Out of the numerous jihadist campaigns that islam has initiated, non seem to have been successful. The future can only bring acts of jihadist desperation. Unless we wake up as a whole, it can become concerning.

My goodness what will they do if we stop buying their oil...no more solid gold toilets for the saudi princes, they will be relieving themselves in good old outhouses (luckily the symbol of islam, the crescent, is also the symbol of outhouses)....maybe for her community service we could send martha stewart over to host her show "cooking with crude"..."simple SANDwiches"..."100 ways to use that leftover petrol"...mmmm they are in for some really good eating.

It's time to leave Muslims to their allahaha!

I say isolate Islamic lands. Those who have oil must sell it or starve. Other than that not a THING from the West. Let them build their own technological 21st century civilization—or not.

I agree Lilith but you know it will be a dismal failure, the little sheetheads can't find their own ass with both hands.

Ibn Warraq in "Why I Am Not A Muslim", spends some time on Algeria with respect to the Berbers, and how that country was raped first, and most destructively by the Arabs (Muslims) and NOT the French (pp. 210 and following).

OT again, but a more recent update on ANWAR for Keith:

http://www.eia.doe.gov/oiaf/servicerpt/ogp/pdf/sroiaf(2004)04.pdf

Of course it does list uncertainties but he has his side's people to thank for blocking any efforts to find out just how Much is available.

BTW, this report gives a Maximum of 7.7 billion, and Raises the Minimum to 4.8 billion from the previous report I listed.

And I have learned that we now use 20 Million barrels a day? Even IF ANWAR were produced to that level, you are talking 8 months. I did get my previous guess wrong: 9.3 years at listed production rates. Hardly 3 months worth and Needed to get us off of SA oil.

Well so I got the nuke em and kill em routine, BUT if we nuke most of the countries in the ME, then France, England cause they are taking over there, Indonesia, etc, Africa etc. don't you suppose that's enough nukes to wipe everybody off the face of the planet from the effects? We can do the standard old bomb routines on some of these countries, but that's provided we got a president and congress that can stomach that. With the war in Iraq only over a year old and no support from the American people, fat chance.
Not saying we gotta let these guys have free run of the world cause that's what got us here, but we better come up with a better plan than nukes and bomb runs.
Things are getting hot because of Iraq and the treat to their style of life and loss of power. Nows the time for the countries of the world to keep the pressure on not pull out of SA or other countries, especially the moderate ones. If we can just get thru the elections and W wins, maybe we can get down to the fourth quarter.

oik
Yes this is sad about Tunisia. sidi busid and carthage But we will have to Bring our Men home who are there from WW2 First!

And we can always go to Rodie and saychel!

We will leave oil this is the Fear the Arabs have their evil plan can not work!

Yes we have enough grain and oil in this country to run our cars! we will go hidro and what ever else it takes!

America will not live in FEAR!!

We will WIN this War!!!

Part of the American Tribe
God Bless the USA and her Fighting Forces and All who Fight with her give them Strength and Courage to stay the course to Victory Amen

PS Victory in short skirts!!

"And What Of Prester John" Previous Post Hugh

"These French Priests Were Murdered for helping the Algerians." Hugh

Once again Hugh transports us back into history to understand the current. The statue of Prester John (an African man) in the cathedral at Koln (Cologne) Germany is easy to miss but it's impact is not. Westerners reaching out to Africans centuries ago in an attempt to help each other.

In today's Michael Moore world all westerners and traditional religious Christians are portrayed as arrogant, racist, backwards thinking people caring about no one but themselves. By the west's love of Prester John (even though he was probably mythical) we see how ridiculous this all was. Even Presidents (like Clinton) can be snookered by these fallacies. I am refering to the speech President Clinton gave equating 9-11 with the Crusades at Georgetown. I can still remember Chris Matthews asking a prominent historian weren't the Crusades an answer to the Islamic Invasion of the 7th century. The historian looked puzzled as if to wonder, you mean the Spanish and Bosnians didn't convert out of their own free will?

One of the saddest examples Hugh mentions is Algeria. Here we have westerners (French priests) executed for just helping the poor Algerians. They weren't even preaching Christianity. They were never given the chance.

I wish I could ask Michael Moore and his pop culture, revisionist, angry cabal why did they hate thier own culture so much. It's a sad thing to watch kind of like watching a woman returning to a sad excuse of a man that beats her.

WHY THE HELL CANT ALL THOSE UN EMPLOYED IRAQIES PROTECT THE OIL PIPE LINES INSTEAD OF RUNNING THE STREETS ALL DAY???????

USA Girl - Those that sent the jihadists out have already thought od what they will do if the West ceases to depend on oil.

1. Developing nations will still need oil long after the West has developed alternative technologies.

2. They have sent their "advance guard" to colonize and subdue us, thus making our lands Muslim friendly for the time their reserves are and all that is left is a pile of hot sand.

Stop them now before it's too late.

Interesting gary pointing out the Canadian oil reserves.
Wonder if this is anything to do with the recent islamization of canada.

Davo~ *blinks* Hmmm. Well, most of them are East of the oil sands, unless I am mistaken. But that is a thought: Get yourself a small army and take control of Canada's oil resources.

.... I sort of think that's stretching it. Besides which, the technology needs a bit more advancing before much of that oil can be extracted.

re: the alaska oil discussion

there is more oil and gas in alaska than just a.n.w.r.

http://www.csmonitor.com/2003/0506/p01s01-ussc.html

http://api-ep.api.org/industry/index.cfm?bitmask=B3461B22-7187-11D5-9F1B0008C7094D05

in fact, alaskan politicians, not able to get the energy bill through congress, are existing on borrowed time as their constituents get more and more frustrated with the latter-day pagan environmentalist movement that resides in hollywood and the upper west side. to circumvent what may be sure removal from office in their upcoming elections, many are now pressing for further opening state-owned land for oil and gas development -- a method to circumvent the long reach of leftist-pandering east-coast senators.

Subject: WWW III - While we snooze

: WW III

You have to read the catalogue of events in this brief piece.

Then, ask yourself how anyone can take the position that all we have to do is bring our troops home from Iraq, sit back, re-set the snooze alarm, go back to sleep, and no one will ever bother us again.

In case you missed it, World War III began in November 1979... that alarm has been ringing for years.

U.S. Navy Captain Ouimette is the Executive Officer at Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Florida. Here is a copy of the speech he gave last month. It is an accurate account of why we are in so much trouble today and why this action is so necessary.

AMERICA NEEDS TO WAKE UP!

That's what we think we heard on the 11th of September 2001 (When more than 3,000 Americans were killed -AD) and maybe it was, but I think it should have been "Get Out of Bed!" In fact, I think the alarm clock has been buzzing since 1979 and we have continued to hit the snooze button and roll over for a few more minutes of peaceful sleep since then.

It was a cool fall day in November 1979 in a country going through a religious and political upheaval when a group of Iranian students attacked and seized the American Embassy in Tehran. This seizure was an outright attack on American soil; it was an attack that held the world's most powerful country hostage and paralyzed a Presidency. The attack on this sovereign U. S. embassy set the stage for events to follow for the next 23 years.

America was still reeling from the aftermath of the Vietnam experience and had a serious threat from the Soviet Union when then, President Carter, had to do something. He chose to conduct a clandestine raid in the desert.

The ill-fated mission ended in ruin, but stood as a symbol of America's inability to deal with terrorism.

America's military had been decimated and downsized/right sized since the end of the Vietnam War. A poorly trained, poorly equipped and poorly organized military was called on to execute a complex mission that was doomed from the start.

Shortly after the Tehran experience, Americans began to be kidnapped and killed throughout the Middle East. America could do little to protect her citizens living and working abroad. The attacks against US soil continued.

In April of 1983 a large vehicle packed with high explosives was driven into the US Embassy compound in Beirut. When it explodes, it kills 63 people. The alarm went off again and America hit the Snooze Button once more.

Then just six short months later a large truck heavily laden down with over 2500 pounds of TNT smashed through the main gate of the US Marine Corps headquarters in Beirut and 241 US servicemen are killed. America mourns her dead and hit the Snooze Button once more.

Two months later in December 1983, another truck loaded with explosives is driven into the US Embassy in Kuwait, and America continues her slumber.

The following year, in September 1984, another van was driven into the gates of the US Embassy in Beirut and America slept.

Soon the terrorism spreads to Europe. In April 1985 a bomb explodes in a restaurant frequented by US soldiers in Madrid.

Then in August a Volkswagen loaded with explosives is driven into the main gate of the US Air Force Base at Rhein-Main, 22 are killed and the snooze alarm is buzzing louder and louder as US interests are continually attacked.

Fifty-nine days later a cruise ship, the Achille Lauro is hijacked and we watched as an American in a wheelchair is singled out of the passenger list and executed.

The terrorists then shift their tactics to bombing civilian airliners when they bomb TWA Flight 840 in April of 1986 that killed 4 and the most tragic bombing, Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland in 1988, killing 259.

Clinton treated these terrorist acts as crimes; in fact we are still trying to bring these people to trial. These are acts of war.

The wake up alarm is getting louder and louder. The terrorists decide to bring the fight to America. In January 1993, two CIA agents are shot and killed as they enter CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia.

The following month, February 1993, a group of terrorists are arrested after a rented van packed with explosives is driven into the underground parking garage of the World Trade Center in New York City. Six people are killed and over 1000 are injured. Still this is a crime and not an act of war?

The Snooze alarm is depressed again.

Then in November 1995 a car bomb explodes at a US military complex in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia killing seven service men and women.

A few months later in June of 1996, another truck bomb explodes only 35 yards from the US military compound in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. It destroys the Khobar Towers, a US Air Force barracks, killing 19 and injuring over 500. The terrorists are getting braver and smarter as they see that America does not respond decisively.

They move to coordinate their attacks in a simultaneous attack on two US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. These attacks were planned with precision. They kill 224. America responds with cruise missile attacks and goes back to sleep.

The USS Cole was docked in the port of Aden, Yemen for refueling on 12 October 2000, when a small craft pulled along side the ship and exploded killing 17 US Navy Sailors. Attacking a US War Ship is an act of war, but we sent the FBI to investigate the crime and went back to sleep.

And of course you know the events of 11 September 2001. Most Americans think this was the first attack against US soil or in America. How wrong they are.

America has been under a constant attack since 1979 and we chose to hit the snooze alarm and roll over and go back to sleep.

In the news lately we have seen lots of finger pointing from every high officials in government over what they knew and what they didn't know. But if you've read the papers and paid a little attention I think you can see exactly what they knew. You don't have to be in the FBI or CIA or on the National Security Council to see the pattern that has been developing since 1979.

The President is right on when he says we are engaged in a war. I think we have been in a war for the past 23 years and it will continue until we as a people decide enough is enough.

America needs to "Get out of Bed" and act decisively now. America has been changed forever. We have to be ready to pay the price and make the sacrifice to ensure our way of life continues. We cannot afford to keep hitting the snooze button again and again and roll over and go back to sleep.

After the attack on Pearl Harbor, Admiral Yamamoto said "...it seems all we have done is awakened a sleeping giant." This is the message we need to disseminate to terrorists around the world.

Support Our Troops and support President Bush for having the courage, political or militarily, to address what so many who preceded him didn't have the backbone to do both Democrat and Republican. This is not a political thing to be hashed over in an election year this is an AMERICAN thing. This is about our Freedom and the Freedom of our children in years to come.

Please forward this to as many people as you can especially to the young people and all those who dozed off in history class and who seem so quick to protest such a necessary military action.

This is sort of off topic, but still relates to Algeria,

CHRISTIAN WOMAN WHIPPED UNDER ISLAMIC LAW
www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=38967

She was dragged off a bus in Khartoum for not wearing a headscarf.

Then the court delared her guilty on charges of "standing near a garden at night".

She was sentenced to 40 lashes and 10,000 dinars= a months wage.

Police reportedly told her "no one, not even non-muslims where exempt from the Islamic dress code".

And some posters here wonder why the majority of us on this site feel the way we do towards Islam and the fanatics that want install this craziness in our country.

I work in Algeria. Most of the Algerians are quite friendly and appear pro western. The country is not all Arab, a very large proportion is Kabyle who are the original Algerians. Many of them are agnostic, some are Christian and some has sucumbed to Islam. The arabs are however the dominant race there and treat the Kabyle badly.

The more I learn about the Islamic culture the more I dislike it, it is like a disease that pervades our societies slowly is taking hold of our countries. I am from the UK and over the years the Muslim grip has strenghtened here thanks to the European Union and a rediculously slack imigration policy. Of course the leftist idiots will cry racism everytime someone questions the imigration laws in this country. Funny thing is I have never met one person who is happy about imigration in this country but the media is so controlled by liberal that the true voice of the British people will never be heard.

I believe we have now between 1 and 2 million of these people in this country, people who have no allegence to the United Kingdom or what it stands for. These people have refused to integrate into our society unlike most of the other ethnic minorities and instead have congregated and taken over whole communities and towns. It seems like they have no respect for our culture but expect us to bow down before theirs.

The stories of Bradford, Burnley I think are mentioned somewhere on this site. The muslims constanly play the race card, blame the good English people of racism, they pull every trick in the book to make us bend over backwards and do their bidding.

Anyway had to get that off my chest! Anyway great site keep up the good work.

Americans don't forget your Allies, we have stuck by you through this hole thing. Looks like the rest of Europe prefer Dhimmitude.

Salute

OMG...that woman was WITHOUT a headscarf...WHILE standing by a garden..at NIGHT...thank the Lord that the crack Khartoum police force was on the job to keep that city safe from lunatics like her. Imagine what chaos would have resulted if they had not taken this hardened criminal off the streets...kudos to the Khartoum police

/sarcasm off

More murder and mayhem in the name of Islam, but it's only an insignificant minority that is hijacking this great peaceful religion. Whaamm!!!
Tyoical islamic barbarity and backwardness

Did I really write "hole thing"?

** Mental note, cut and paste in to word document to hide inability to spell** :)

onesandzeros,

"Support Our Troops and support President Bush for having the courage, political or militarily, to address what so many who preceded him didn't have the backbone to do both Democrat and Republican. This is not a political thing to be hashed over in an election year this is an AMERICAN thing."

The above is precisely why believe Bush should have summoned just a little more courage and not run for re-election. His country needed him to prosecute the war full time, and to keep it from being a "political thing". He's young yet,so he could've easily laid the groundwork for a hero's comeback in 2008 and easily kept the White House Republican for another four years.

Keeping a united front against an enemy envolves more than just silencing critics. Everyone must ask themselves, "What am I willing to give up to make this work?".

Besides, do the Republicans really believe that Dubya is the only man they have who can beat Kerry? If so, then they, and by extension, we, are lost.

a transparently stupid liberal plug, Phil.

Try harder next time.

After today's beheading incident, it should be apparent to our so called "leaders" in Washington that we are fighting a barbaric force that will only be tamed by brute force. Trying to negotiate with moderates is a fool's game that plays into the hands of Iranian and Syrian-backed extremists.
The time has arrived for the US to strike its enemies in a way that will send the Arab world and all anti-American nations to their knees.

Bob Owens,

"a transparently stupid liberal plug, Phil.

Try harder next time."

Don't be so frightened, it's just another paradigm shift...those of us who are genuine conservatives see them coming, and usually know what to save and what to leave behind as we catch the "new wave" in. That's why we're called "conservatives". And why we're not afraid of the future, just the desperate acts of people like the Jihadists or Neo-cons who don't realize they can't stop it.

The possibility of President John Kerry appointing Attorney General Hillary Clinton while the "Patriot Act" is still in force...now that's frightening.

Oh, and I'll chalk your pseudo-literate, generic reply up to the "flight" part of your "fight or flight" response and assume your answer to my question, by default, is "no".
