Sure, there are racists and creeps everywhere, but no one in Holland or in Europe in general seems to be willing or able to address the fact that the problem of Islamic immigration is not racial, but ideological. This is the first time a large number of people have come holding a religion that contains a tradition that they must do violence in order to establish the political hegemony of that religion. How can non-Muslim Dutchmen be sure that Dutch Muslims will not try to institute Sharia there? An atmosphere in which such questions are of themselves considered discrimination and hatemongering is one that breeds the resentment that Dijkstal deplores.

The Dutch have been in a downward spiral since the 70's. This new attitude towards migrants has been a long time coming and Mr. Dijkstal needs to put a cork in it. If most muslims where moderate respectable people as he claims, we wouldn't be having this continued debate on the insidious nature of their faith and their attempts to make their host countries conform to their muslim standards or should I say lack of standards. Theresa is correct, except it's been going on much longer than the 70's. And i'm not talking about their muslim problems either. Their society has crumbled, their heritage and pride has been on a steady decline since the early 60's.
once, we looked at the Dutch as being a very liberal and "free" area, but moral decay has taken a toll. Not that the Dutch are "bad' or anything, but it seems they are just too darned nice! (and too darned weird)
The Dutch immigrants I've come to know around here and I know quite a few, The older ones have excellent work standards, machinists are world class, and even the younger ones, 30's and up, are excellent and hard working as well. But, they have this built up inner hate, and it has to do with where they came from. They have a tendency for domestic violence, and their kids are unusually quiet. I've seen 3 dutch women leave their husbands last year alone, and they leave their kids too. I find this odd because these guys aren't poor, they come here with money.
The women aren't leaving to be tramps either. They take a job and are really good people, honest, hard working, moral. You can compare their demeanor to a hutterite woman. Menonites I guess. They just don't talk about their troubles at all.

Do we see a pattern here. Over the past year we have read about the downward spiral of cultures throughout the world that have been "influenced" by Muslim immigrants: France, Germany, Britain, Nigeria, Thailand, and so on. The Australians are fending them off, but how long before they, too show a similar strain? And, look at our recent discussions on Canada and the U.S.
This is happening in all parts of the world. We have seen glimpses of strain the Latin America and Central America, and Mexico has become a staging ground for terrorist infiltration over our porous border.
It doesn't take the mentality of a rocket scientist to see what is going here,yet, we seem to be sitting on our hands as if no one can believe what is happening, confused, paralyzed, unable to take corrective measures to turn back the tide of this…abomination.

I'd disagree that Dutch society is on a downward spiral, in fact it's probably the most relaxed society in the world e.g-the legalisation of brothels and the heroin shooting galleries have led to the worlds lowest rape statistics and numbers of people with AIDS (respectively) which I think says a lot for the dutch on the whole. And I really think that "xenophobia aginst muslim migrants" is a positve thing, this is a society in which freedom of speech and expression are greatly encouraged and I can also say without a doubt that the Netherlands is pretty-much culturally diverse. That such a free and open-minded society is also rejecting the overbearing religious bullshit and cries of unfair treatment/dicrimination from these parasitic nomads is refreshing to say the least.

Nathan: Your Dutch and Hutterite neighbrs don't speak Yiddish--just distantly related Germanic dialects. Yiddish is the language of Eastern European Jews and all but disappeared in western Europe after the Jews got a few political rights and some modern educations in Germany and the western parts of the old Austro-Hungarian empire.
Hutterite German is a dialect incubated by a long period of social isolation. Many Mennonite communities used Plautdietsch, or Low German--formerly the dominant language of Lower Saxony, Oldenburg, Mecklenburg, and lots of places all the way to East Prussia. Nederlands developed its own literary language and branched off as a separate member of the Germanic group of languages fairly early.
Also, Yiddish is usually written in Hebrew letters, for it developed a literature of Rabbinic Responsa, stories for women and children, songs, etc. long before literacy in Roman letters was widespread among its speakers.
