Muslims in King County are celebrating. In A Call to Action - an email by members of Seattle's Arab & Muslim Community - the authors write: "our pro-justice position is not a fringe voice held by only the most extreme liberals as some might have us believe, but rather, it is the voice of the majority." Sadly, this assessment may be correct--at least among Seattle Democrats. According to the Islamic-American group CAIR, the Seattle's Democratic Party Platform now officially states: "our tax dollars should not go to Israel while it violates international law."Greg Rodriguez - Chair of the King County Democratic Party - recently went on a Seattle radio talk show to express "embarrassment" over the one-sided suggestion of punitive action against Israel. But the fact remains: the anti-Israel stance qualified as a plank in the city's Democratic platform. That means the position must not only have been given serious consideration, but that the world's only Jewish state had to have been singled out. ...
When the Jihadists regard America and Israel, they must continue to see a unified front. Minimally, US aid to Israel signals such unity. More importantly, however, our obligations to our ally rise to the level of moral commitment to a lone democratic island in a sea of Islamist rage--one whose enemies have vowed to push it into the Mediterranean. Continued bi-partisan support for Israel must not splinter in the face of those bent on Israel's demise, or such enemies will find a way through those very fissures in order to kill us as well. The Democrats should know this.
Foreign aid should be cut, all right, but not to Israel. It should be cut to Egypt, Jordan, any and all Muslim countries for a simple reason. If one wishes to establish the conditions which will allow for the creation of little Ataturks, these states should not be helped, through the aid of Infidels, to postpone the recognition of the economic, political, intellectual, and moral failure of Islam. Keeping their economies alive on a life-support system (and OPEC oil money is the same, for it reflects merely an accident of geology, not any industry or entrepreneurial flair on the part of the passive recipients of the largesse) does not promote the wellbeing of Infidels.
The aim should be to encourage conditions akin to those in Turkey in the early 1920s, when Mustafa Kemal Pasha, seeing the country at the end of its tether, and having taken the measure of Islam, decided to constrain and limit it in a series of measures.
Egypt, in particular, needs to have its weapons curbed -- not only because the Egyptian government itself cannot be trusted, not only because a number of high-ranking and well-connected Egyptians were discovered to have been in the pay of Saddam Hussein and transmitting both Egyptian and American secrets to his regime, but becaus of the obvious problem of weapons falling into hands even more dangerous than those of the Egyptian government -- the Ayman al-Zawahiris who are to be found, or rather can't quite be found, but are there, throughout the security services.

If money were ever to be shut off to Israel, then the Arabs shouldn't get any either, unless we're buying goods. I suppose these Dems don't view homicide bombings and the murder of a pregnant jewish mother and her kids is a violation of any sort of law.

As with the liberal tendency to play nice and avoid confrontations, I am ashamed to admit that some in my party have been co-opted by the so-called peace loving Muslims. More than likely there is some major contributor that is calling the tune. Like our universities and their "Middle East Studies" (a.k.a "Bash Israel Club") departments.

We need to try to get Israel into NATO. That would help a lot. But of course, NATO doesn't take any nation "involved in a border dispute"... and Turkey's occupation of Kurdistan doesn't count because.. um.. Turkey is a muslim nation. Maybe we could give the Kurds a piece of Israel. (Sarcasm.)

Haven't you known the heavy islamic influence in the democrat ranks? I don't know which sites you visit, but i have been to quite a few, even the Deano campaign site, kerry's, DU, Koss and many others, Indy media, all these lefty places do the same thing, bash Jews, ( I'm not jewish by the way)Pro Arabs, and there have been many i have caught who are muslims pretending to be democrats. The motive is clear, defeat Bush.

If I was a democrat, and I mean a real, middle of the road type, which I suspect you are, I couldn't honestly vote for a democrat right now, knowing what Kerry is, and how far left the supporers of the party, and it's candidates are.

JP, some of us who aren't long-rooted in the USA appreciate the liberties of the USA more than anyone else (ever know anyone who actually had to grow up under Stalin? Hitler? Ulbricht? Gomulka? Ceaucescu? Hoxha? Souphannouvong? Mao? Castro? Sodom Insane? Ayatollah Cockamamie?); pay our taxes; and use our voting right to vote for the party more likely to stand up for what America has. Further, if we are proud of our ability to use two or more languages (especially English), we are also pretty wary of a "multiculturalism" that is only the whiny "anti-cultural" rebellion of overripe adolescent rebels who can't speak anything but English, and that badly (and they secretly think we smell bad, too, because we eat too many onions and garlic cloves).
America--land of St. Patrick's Day parades (Irish), Sinter Klaas (Dutch), Kosher Delis (Central European), tamales (Hispanic), fried rice (Chinese), hamburgers (German), fenced fields and barns (also German rather than Scots-Irish), jazz (part African),and a lot of other things.
