Yesterday I had occasion to speak with several people who have no idea that jihad activity is still going on in the US. They never heard of the Lackawanna Al-Qaeda cell, or the Virginia paintball gang, or the Portland group, or any other. Nor were they ignorant or ill-informed -- far from it. But the mainstream media is simply not giving stories like these adequate attention, to the detriment of us all. How different would the average American's view of terrorism and the war on terror be if all the stories like this one were common knowledge? From the Boston Globe, with thanks to nevermindlv:
A former Boston cabdriver who allegedly admitted training in an Afghanistan terrorist camp was charged yesterday in federal court in Minnesota with lying to the FBI about helping a convicted terrorist get a Massachusetts driver's license.Mohamad Kamal Elzahabi, 41, a Lebanese national, is charged with lying about providing support to Raed Hijazi in 1997 and 1998, when both were working as taxi drivers in Boston, according to a complaint and FBI affidavit unsealed yesterday in US District Court in Minnesota.
Hijazi was later convicted in Jordan of the failed millennium bombing plot that targeted American and Israeli tourists in that country.
The complaint also charges Elzahabi with lying to federal agents by denying he had shipped radios and other communications equipment to Pakistan between 1995 and 1997.
Elzahabi, who has been held in New York since his arrest in May, will be transferred to Minneapolis to face the two counts of making false statements to federal investigators.
America's internal disarray weakens us severely. The lead comments for this article point out the profound ignorance of Americans, including our president, about the nature of Islam. If Americans read Robert Spencer's two books and nothing else, they would be 1000% better armed. But, we have an evil fifth column undercutting our survival in America, and I am not referring to the Muslims in this instance. Our journalistic media, centers of learning, and citadels of power are dominated by people who hate America. Almost to a person, they are native born Americans. They are living proof of the old saying about biting the hand that feeds one. These ingrates hate freedom and capitalism, and they welcome anyone who will dismantle America. Whether one calls them liberals, leftists, Democrats, or just what, seems far less important than just knowing they exist.
However, take heart. The Los Angeles Times is suffering for its America hatred. Revenues are dwindling, and layoffs are rising. If Americans stop buying the sundry rags from New York, Washington, Boston, and so on, and if they stop supporting CBS, ABC, NBC, and so on, they can get the attention of these fifth columnists, just like what is happening to the Los Angeles Times.
Success breeds success. Watching these bums involute without financial support will lead to the near ultimate--a cleanout of Congress, etc. With that success, dare we hope to clean up the universities?
In the UK, especially London the same tendencies tend to appear... People seem to like to convince themselves that bad things wont happen. They also seem to have forgotten Madrid already - or convinced themselves it was an abberation.
The amount of jihadi style activity we see on a day to day basis here is ridiculous, out in the open all over the place. Robert is one of the few people to document some of the crazy things that heppen here, like the 'peace loving' saudi imam who graced us with his presence in east london last month. The family which runs the local 7-11 store near me seems like nice people, they say hello, they engage in small talk with the customers, probably peaceful people. I believe that most people feel in their gut it is wrong to kill. I think it is instinct, to feel some empathy for other human beings, and not want to harm them. This is why most Muslims don’t go around killing Kafirs, even when fed the hateful diet of ideas that are contained in the Koran.
But they are like the ocean that Mao was referring to. They Jihadi infiltrators hide amongst them, they use them for cover. This local Muslim family probably goes to a mosque and donates money to Muslim charities. In these Islamic charities there is sometimes has a person who works there who is sympathetic to the terrorist’s goals. So this family’s money ends up in Jihadi hands, without their knowledge.
When this family travels through airports the Jihadis hide amongst them. They make law enforcement’s job much tougher. They do not know which group of Middle Eastern looking people are innocent, and which are the beasts waiting to draw blood from American victims.
The majority of Americans do not yet understand that we are at war. Memories are short. It might just take a few more attacks on American soil before the people get the idea. Hopefully the truth will sink in before we elect JFK (the appeaser) to the White House.

Such a policy would not based on race or ethnicity. Rather, it takes into account the antithetical basis of the US Constitution and Islam. To believe in Islam is to ever campaign to subvert this nation's culture, laws, people and government. Failure to do so makes any muslim an apostate: punishable by death under Sharia.
It is explicity written that muslims are enabled/ required to lie under oath, betray all non-muslims, and "slay them wherever you find them' as long as it advances Islam. Muslim law upends American law accross the board.
Its belief system is remarkably like Shintoism; which was cast off after WWII. Once Hirohito implicitly admitted that he was a man not a god; that the way of conquest was over Shintoism was dead. It hand no more reason for being. It was a conquest cult with a rationale of absolutism.
Shintoism is a strong analog to Islam:

crushed economic output and cultural advance,

I have always wondered about the cab drivers. Many (most?) seem to be foreign nationals in our cities. Imagine for a moment if they were all members of a large network sleeper cell, ready to deliver the "Winds of Black Death", or other toxicological nasties.

Contact the advertisers that buy time or space on or from them and let them know we do not appreciate being kept in the dark on national security issues and that the existance of the Internet means we do not have to be...We have an alternative source of information.

I have to disagree with you on the basic nature of Muslims. When the first words a newborn hears are spoken to him by his father from the Quran, Which is nothing more than a terrorists handbook, and this is all he hears at home, at school and at the Mosque, he has no choice but to believe it.
Muslims are taught...No brainwashed into believing that only they have a right to exist on this planet. They are drilled with the idea that all non Muslims are Gods Enemies and that killing us is a Holy command, and to die killing us is the ultimate gift they can give their god. If a Muslim is quiet about this belief is testament to his own greed or survival instinct, not to his good heart. I think we all recognize the same thing here; our media do not serve us well in this war, and so it is incumbant upon us to fight it ourselves by supplying the information they will not. The following comments, extracted from those above, suggest a partial solution to the "information blackout:"

The Jews know well that certain kinds of information "stick" better than others, and we should take a page from their playbook. Despite all the written lessons in history books, memories of the Holocaust were fading. The answer to this problem lay in providing information via a different means, and that is, the senses. The Holocaust Museum is a collection of visual and auditory information that cannot be so easily forgotten, and whenever the Holocaust is mentioned, this information is evoked.
We can't have a "Terrorist Museum" yet, but we can have an equivalent, smaller process that will serve precisely the same function.
It would serve us well, and do an "end-run" around the silence of the media, if somewhere, we could establish a visual and auditory chronicle of what happens when terror has its way with us.
We need convenient and easy access to all the sights and sounds of terror--the pictures of the Twin Towers, the photos of the "jumpers," the sounds and pictures of Nick Berg and others being beheaded, and on and on.
These images and sounds are real; the information they provide is truthful and valid. They are important to our case because they elicit powerful emotional responses--much greater than those elicited by the printed page. Emotions are the "glue" that helps important information "stick" in our memories.
We often say that by their refusal to publish such sounds and pictures, our media are "protecting" us, much as parents would protect children, from unpleasant experiences which would traumatize us. Sometimes they excuse themselves by saying the publication of such sensory information would be in "poor taste," or that it would appeal to "morbid curiosity," or some "baser senses," and so forth.
The media are wrong, and this time, they are just plain evil; by their failure to present the evidence of what is happening to us, they are damping the response of our minds to the reality of our situation, and so we forget.
War is hell. We have the auditory-visual proof of it, if only we can have ready access to it.
We'll be able to tell when America wakes up when we see a mass exodus of the Islamic plague that's infested this nation.
I don't believe that every Muslim is a bad person. However, the Saudis have started world's biggest forest fire, and our Government has fanned the flames by letting the Somalis and other Islamic refugees in here to live among us.
Alot of facts have been introduced with regard to the ties the Bush family and the Saudis, including bin Laden have with one another. I've also seen a report on the "Cheney Doctrine" that was written in I believe 1990.
I'm a lifelong Rebublican, but I've seen some extremely disturbing documentation over the last few days. Things aren't adding up with regard to being beneficial to our nation and its citizens.
People keep telling me that I need to see Moore's new movie. I can't being myself to do it. Has anyone else seen it yet? If so, what did you think?

What is it with the lefties?Are they so ashamed of their own race/nationality? Do they loathe themselves and everyone around them so much that they try to make these extremists look oh so innocent and blame everything on their own country men, and hate their own country so much that they seem hell-bent on causing it's destruction. Unfortunately, blert, what you have said is, almost word for word (in the Congressional Record) the argument used over a half century ago to intern American-born citizens of Japanese descent, along with their spouses of Japanese and non-Japanese descent, Buddhist, Christian, or non-believer.
And, a century before that (again, in the Congressional Record and Library of Congress)to prohibit Catholics, particularly Irish (who could not legally immigrate to the U.S. for decades at a time, and were often abandoned en masse on Canadian shores to die)and Italians - who, BTW, were not accorded full human rights until early in the 20th century due to their "scientifically proven" (as read on the floor of Congress) racial link to North Africans.
And don't even get me started on the similarity to the Nuremburg Laws (which revoked the citizenship of Jews, native or other) and all the "rational" arguments for the suppression of followers of Judaism and taking into account the "antithetical basis" of German Kultur and Europe's "Mud-people".
