“He's not a terrorist,” said Eid. “He's a simple-living man. People there know him to be a fisherman, not a bomb-maker.”

I come home from work, sit down with a DiSorono sour, which is now up my nose and I think I've pulled a muscle laughing.
What's going on in the Philippine is similiar to what happend in Indonesia. History tends to repeat itself. Here some interesting history lesson that I want to share with you all. I'm an unfortunate dhimmi who's been living in Indonesia.
As you all know that Indonesia is the largest muslim populated nation in the world. But in the early days of the Indonesian history,(500 AD - 1400AD) we're heavyly influenced by the Indian culture & tradition. So Hinduism & Budhisism were the the predominant religions of that time. Cultural harmony & tolerance was common between these two religions. There was no religious dispute/conflict.
In the 15th century Muslim "missionaries" from Arabia & India came & lived in Indonesia. they'd called themself merchant. They brought many young attractive maidens from their countries, they had them presented & offered to the local warlords/feudal kings, but in order to get those virgins the warlords/feudal kings and his followers must convert into Islam. Once they had accepted this simple term, these "missionaries" will become the warlords/feudal kings advisor. Off course the first advise would be waging holy war against "infidels" warlods & kingdom. Slowly but sure Islam become the major religion of Indonesia.
During the turmoil many temples were destroyed, those who rejected to submit to Islam were beheaded, raped and looted. The warlords/feudal kings who'd survived this holocaust fled to Island of Bali (where Hinduism still the major religion).
But the rise of the Islamic Kingdoms in Indonesia didn't last very long. In the 16th century the Spanish, Portuguese, English and lastly Ducth colonialist came and demolished those Islamic Kingdoms. We become under the dutch coloniallism for over 300 years. During the colonialism many christians missionarries came and converted a significant amount of ppl in Indonesia.(mostly in the eastern parts eg:mollucas, Papua & west timor).
During the dutch colonialism, many Islamic school were closed, foreign clerics were expelled and also the ducth colonialist will only hire ppls who'd graduated from dutch sponsored schools. As a result when Indonesia became Independent in 1945, the new goverment adopt a western style of law & constitution. This modificated constitution give freedom of religion, seperation of religion & state which many of the Jihadist/Islamist felt discontent.
Because of the western style of education, many Indonesian who indentified themselves as Muslim didn't know what Islam really all about. As a result many so called muslims in Indonesia mixed their religion with the traditional pre-islamic cultural heritage which base solidly on non violence and tolerance. The example of this case, many Indonesian muslims came to their christians friends/relatives home and congratulate them during Christmas.
However there are a small but vocal minority of Indonesian Muslim who've viewed this kind of pratice, "heresy". This small minority also dream of building an Islamic state in Indonesia. The former Presidents, Soekarno & Soeharto were aware of this threat, when they came to power many radical Islamic organization were banned and radical clerics were put to jail. The clerics were forced to pledged their loyality to the contitution. Sadly, when Soeharto falled from grace those extremists/jihadist revived.
Even in the Majelis Ulama Indonesia (MUI), the government sponsored Islamic highest authority in Indonesia, they have supporter. In recent year, MUI had issued a contraversial "fatwa" or decry that forbid Muslim to give their christian friends/relatives Christmas greetings.
Knowing the moderate behaviour of many Indonesian Muslim, jihadist here recruits many middle-east/Arabian Islamic preachers to teach the "pure form" of Islam. The Jihadist even have infiltrated the goverment, there are many new regulations that suppresed us non muslim.
As a dhimmi I can sense that the hostility become stronger each year. The hate crime against non muslim is rising, many churches/temples were burned. The recent case in east timor & mollucas was just the beginning. The jihadist have a long term plan to take over Indonesia and change our constitution to Islamic shariah. There was a rally organized by Hizbut Tahir (radical group) last year that demand unity between Islamic nation and ressurection of the Islamic Caliphate.

Christianity was often introduced into various regions using the same tactic, but we don't find Christians advocating a jihadist mentality today i.e. killing non-Christians. Good people must do something or the spread of Islam in Indonesia and elsewhere will become a cancer that will engulf us all.
