Suspect in Mall Plot Sent for Evaluation

Maybe it's all true, and mall bombing suspect Nuradin Abdi has been tortured in prison in Ohio, but I doubt that prosecutors would give themselves that large a self-inflicted wound. Instead, it looks as if CAIR and Abdi's other defenders are trying to set up some kind of abuse case, along with the usual charges of discrimination. Maybe they have calculated that this is the sort of thing that will play well after Abu Ghraib. From AP:

In the courtroom, Nuradin Abdi pressed his face onto a glass-covered tabletop, jerked his head randomly and muttered as his attorney successfully sought the evaluation before trial begins.

Many of Abdi's supporters who attended Wednesday's hearing said they were disturbed to see his shuffling gait and distracted behavior. Abdi has been held in federal detention since his arrest in November.

"It was like a different person," said his 17-year-old brother, Mohamed AbdiKarani, who said Abdi is innocent. "He looked at me; he didn't know who I was." ...

"The government took a healthy man, and what we have here is a broken man, mentally," said his lawyer, Mahir Sherif. Assistant U.S. Attorney Dana Peters said he did not object to the evaluation but added, "We have no evidence of any abuse of Mr. Abdi." ...

Jad Humeidan, executive director of the Ohio office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, said Abdi was his friend, and always quick to volunteer to help new Somali immigrants find translators, jobs and housing.

"Just seeing Nuradin in court was an emotional experience," Humeidan said. "This wasn't the Nuradin that we know. This was just the shell of a man."

About 100 supporters, including Abdi's family, filled the seats in the courtroom and stood along the walls. Afterward they joined about 200 other supporters in front of the courthouse, where many waved small American flags and a few held up signs that read "Nuradin is 100 percent innocent" and "Patriot Act Religious Profiling." ...

Sherif said it was too early for him to comment about the charges but added, "It's not beyond the government to make mistakes for whatever reason."

That is true. Still, I doubt that this man was tortured. We'll see what evidence comes in.

I would hope they listen for conflicting statements, and I hope the call witness anyone (non-muslim) who was incarcerated in the same area with him. I will Bet this guy was coached.

Here we have the usual situation in where the defence is able to lay out its objections and make whatever accusations of improprieties by the prosecution in a public forum.

The prosecution does not have that luxury and is required to show cause through the district attorneys office.

Any request for warrants must be presented in writing with well defined reasons for a search and possible oral arguments to a judge to get approval for searches of a suspects dwelling as well as submittable evidence to build its case.

Correction-- Law enforcement does not have the luxury of the defence and is required to show cause through the district attorny`s office.

Faking a mental disorder once in captivity is a common trick with muslim prisoners.

Typical staged garbage. You've only got to watch the news and see how remarkably women and children appear from the woodworks after or during a riot where the Israelis have been forced in to using weapons against angry mobs. Screaming and wailing in front of the (western) television cameras. Perfect! Now the apologists have something else to blame on our own society! It was us that made him be a terrorist we forced him to do it and then we tortured him...Hmmm stinks!

Oh and OT but would you really let your loved ones, children and wives to roam around while a full blown riot was in progress? Didn't think so!

The Muslims have become experts in the use of propaganda! Even Goebbels would have been proud of such a ruse.

Doesn't ANYONE remember the al'Qaeda training manual that recommends claiming abuse if you've been arrested?

It's apparent that anyone that plots to kill unsuspecting, innocent people in the name of a false God and a false Prophet has some mental issues.

It would be stupid and purely ignorant to believe that this cretin has been abused. He may want to wish for a conviction, because if he's set free, he's marked. Too many people are tired of the Somalis and Muslims in general around the Columbus area.

I would be surprised, after the way the Somalis behave around Columbus' North End, if someone didn't do something to this guy. I would just as soon see them all moved out of the country until they learn that when they move to another land and that they should respect Americans. I'm not holding my breath.

With the support this puke is getting from Muslim civil rights groups and fellow Somalis, it just goes to show that there is never, ever an admission of wrongdoing by these people.

Well where are the America-haters and the terrorist wannabes on this one? Surely you can lecture us all on how the prison system is anti-Muslim too! Or explain away how yet another peaceful Muslim is caught up in a mass-murder plan. Wait...I think I know...it's a Zionist plot! It's racism! It's discrimination! Funny, where are all those violent Bhuddists and Jews and Christians and atheists anyhow? Or is there something about what Islam teaches that leads its practioners to plot murder? No, it couldn't be! *laughs*

Is this not right out of the UBL handbook???

If we have to nuke Iran we do not have that many in theater to be hurt !!! Rumsfeld is a genius!!

Yes it is the Iraqi People that these terrorist hurt at the bequest of Iran?

Now they try to devert our eyes with S.A. wont work it is squirrel season and the dogs have the sent.

Zarqawi to bin Laden: U.S. Winning in Iraq
Al-Qaida's most dangerous operative, Abu Musab al Zarqawi, has personally warned terror kingpin Osama bin Laden that his troops are under intensifying pressure from U.S. forces in Iraq and prospects for a terrorist victory look bleak.
A purported letter from Zarqawi to bin Laden, posted to Islamic Web sites Monday night, complains that al-Qaida fighters in Iraq are being "squeezed" by U.S.-led coalition forces, the Associated Press said.
"The space of movement is starting to get smaller," Zarqawi warned. "The [U.S.] grip is starting to be tightened on the holy warriors' necks and, with the spread of soldiers and police, the future is becoming frightening."

Run little squirrel back to your nest we want to wipe you and yours out!!!

America's Insane Asylum for Terrorists

Do you know how the alleged "shopping-mall" bomber entered our country? He didn't cross the border illegally. He didn't sneak in on a ship. He came through the front door at America's invitation.

Nuradin M. Abdi, who was indicted last week for plotting with al Qaeda to blow up an Ohio shopping mall, flew here from Somalia and received bogus "refugee" status in 1999, according to authorities. Prosecutors allege that Abdi then fraudulently obtained a refugee travel document, which he used to fly to Ethiopia for jihad training. After returning, Abdi blended back into the American landscape along with tens of thousands of other refugees from a country known to be a breeding ground for Islamic terrorists. Columbus, Abdi's home base, is home to more than 30,000 Somalis -- the second-largest Somali community in the United States, after Minneapolis.

The Somali-al Qaeda connection is well-established. Intelligence reports indicate that Osama bin Laden sent extremists to Somalia in the early 1990s to train and organize the Somali Islamic radical group al-Ittihad al-Islamiya. Bin Laden claimed responsibility for the deaths of 18 American soldiers in Mogadishu. In addition, a Saudi Arabian-based Muslim charity with alleged ties to al Qaeda has been funding refugee camps in Somali border towns. The feds have frozen the Al-Haramain Foundation's assets based on terrorism grounds, but the flow of refugees from the overseas camps subsidized by the group has not been stanched.

Watch yourselfs my redneck friends the wolfs are gathering to take out the strong! Make sure you keep your friends from the 2nd Add. by you!! There has never been a peice of paper that has protected anybody from crazy people!!

Oh Lord, if you would grant me just one wish, I'd wish for you to grant me the authority to interrogate this little vermin myself, in a locked, soundproof room, no windows, no cameras, 15 minutes or so......

Just wishful thinking......Sorry

A Brother Muslim who suffers post-torture disorders in american prisons, has been found innocent and your usual frustration about why judge is not so ignorant as you follows.

Stop harrasing innocent Muslims and learn to live in peace with the rest of brothers and sisters.

Mahmoud,

Are the kafiroon your brothers and sisters?

My Dearest Mahmoud,

I see that you are concerned with the treatment of Nuradin Abdi. As a humanitarian who loves all people, without reservation, I knew you would be.

As you well know, Mr. Abdi is an illegal immigrant from Somalia who is being detained for plotting to blow up an Ohio mall full of innocent civilians.

There seems to be some confusion on your part Mahmoud that needs to be cleared up.

Mr. Abdi has not been found innocent, but it has been determined that he is behaving erratically, and so he was sent for a mental evaluation.

While it is very difficult to ascertain how this particular erratic behavior is any different than the normal, every day erratic behavior common to most Muslims, prosecutors felt it was severe enough to warrant psychological screening.

Be assured, my dear friend, that Mr. Abdi is being treated with the utmost respect.

As I’m sure your Muslim brothers treat all their criminals with respect.

Very rarely does an attorney get punished, censured, or disbarred
Lawyers are what is wrong with the Judicial and Legislative branches of our Government.
The Law in America is for sale.
These people act without fear of being prosecuted.
They are immune from prosecution.
Lawyers & politicians claim they do not lie. What a joke!

In Snohomish County Washington there was a law on the books allowing Law Enforcement Officers to destroy incriminating eveidence. It was later repealled; but the fact that it was on the books in the first place shows the true nature of the system. And don't even think that because it was repealled that the practice went away.

Our Government is our problem - we can not expect anyone else to fix it. It is up to US!

Mahmoud
I will live in peace if you will live in peace. By American definition of Peace not Islamic definition of peace. In the mean time - reap that which you sow.

Dear BoB,
This news just came out of your own oven:

A US contractor who worked for the CIA in Afghanistan has been arrested and charged over the death of a prisoner last year.
He is accused of repeatedly beating Abdul Wali while interrogating him over two days last June.
Mr Wali surrendered voluntarily to US forces last June near the border with Pakistan.

The charges against the contractor were announced by the US Attorney General, John Ashcroft, at a news conference.

He said the fact that Mr Passaro would now stand trial for Mr Wali's death showed that the US would not tolerate the abuse of prisoners.

Exactly the fact that he is charged one year after commiting the crime and following The Scandal of Abu-Ghraib and need of Mr. Ashcroft to sacrifice little bad apples, clearly shows that horrific acts commited by american soldiers in Abu-Ghraib is not an isolated case and the abuse is widespread all over american prison system.

This doesn't show americans are justified just becuase they arrest some apples. What if Mr. Wali wasn't dead?, Do we know how many people this guy tortured in Afghanistan? We only knows he murdered one, so those who had a chance to come alive out of this guy's torture chamber will not recieve any credit, According to Mr. Aschcroft analogy.

I reminded you before of "Statement on Prison Rape Elimination Act" which you can easily find IF you stop visiting pentagon too much and learn to realize that american problems start in america itself. The Fact That George Bush signed that act doesn't mean you are justified, it just shows how deep and systematic abuses in american prisons are.

Talking about Human Rights needs clear and true exmples which america neither has it nor it seems to posses it soon. When that happens, american society will find its soloution and Anti-Islam propaganda only intends to distract americans of finding the real cause of their culture's decay.

Lying is second nature to Muslims. Whatever it takes to get them what they want is what they'll do. I'll paraphrase Herodotus, Epimenides, and Aesop -- Muslims are liars.

Mahmoud:

Talking about Human Rights needs clear and true exmples which america neither has it nor it seems to posses it soon.

Of course, even American prisons have a better record when it comes to upholding human rights than does the average Islamic country.

Kinda sad, isn't it?

Mahmoud has now found the same number of prisoner abuse cases by the US in two wars as his Baathist buddies commited on the way to lunch.

Impressive.
