Johnson Jr. posted a statement on a Web site Friday saying it killed him, and displayed still photographs on the Internet of his beheaded body. ...Johnson was kidnapped last weekend by militants who threatened to kill him by Friday if the kingdom did not release its al-Qaida prisoners.

Actually, this is not true. Before linking this to the Crusades, think about the fact that the Islamic jihad targets Jews (the descendants of Shem) and their allies. Crusaders had no love of Jews. In fact, the first to die in the Crusades were European Jews.
This problem goes back much further than the Crusades. It dates back to Shem's defeat of Nimrod shortly after the flood. Shem was on of the sons of Noah. Nimrod was the son of Cush and a grandson of Noah. Nimrod (aka Osirus, etc.) was the builder of the Tower of Babel and the founder what became known as the Cult of Tamuz (Nimrod's son by Semiramus, aka Ashteroth, Diana, etc.).
This is the more probable beginning of the hate of Shem and his descendants and their allies and, by extension, the root of Islamic Jihad.
