Regular readers of Jihad Watch will find nothing new about the Council on American Islamic Relations in this Washington Times piece, but it is gratifying to see that word is getting out. On the other hand, all this has been known for some time, and government and media organizations continue to assume that CAIR is a neutral civil rights organization. Time to answer some questions, Ibrahim! (Thanks to Jeffrey Imm for the link.)
This piece recounts five incidents in which CAIR officials have been involved in terrorist activities, and concludes:
We understand that no organization can be responsible for the independent actions of its officials or affiliated members. To its credit, CAIR has denounced terrorist acts, most recently the beheadings of two Americans in Iraq. At the same time, the examples cited above reveal some unsettling connections between certain CAIR officials and extremist groups that demand at a minimum an internal investigation. The federal government has not yet turned its "draconian" reach on CAIR directly, and at this point we are not prepared to ask it to do so. For now, it would be better if CAIR itself began a conscientious and deliberate effort to purge members it believes have terrorist ties and to thoroughly condemn those already convicted.
The cunning and deceptive methods to try and hoodwink us is another revealing factor of this religion and its aim.
These people cannot be trusted with anything they say or do...they need to be shut down and banned.
This would be no less what would happen to any other organization or religion who had a manifesto based on the same tenets as Islam and whose followers were involved in similar activities worldwide.

I wish with all my heart we could just close them down, but we cann't. That is because then the KKK, the American Nazi Party,The John Birch Society, and perhaps Pat Robertson et al., or any organization the majority dislikes would be put away. In America that is unConstitutional.
IMO, we need to let these groups be monitored, and when there is proof (that will stand up in court) that they plan, or contribute to violence they need the same sanctions that are put to all other hate groups; sue the mess out of them and send the instigators to jail. No if ands or buts about minority rights.
I know we grow our own nuts but the foreign ones need to be sent to their home countries. We don't need imports.
We are making a mistake if we treat CAIR as a simple law-enforcement problem. CAIR is much more dangerous, in our opinion, than the KKK, Aryan Nations, etc., simply because CAIR has the attention of the mainstream media which largely fawns over them.
We have seen numerous CAIR officers sent to prison for terrorism or terrorism-related charges. Terrorism is an act of war and must be treated as such.
During all previous wars, the military handled the processing (trial, sentence) of enemy combatants on American soil. This war is no different and requires strong, effective pre-emptive action wherever possible to keep the continent safe from Militant Islam.
If we know they (CAIR) have ties to terrorist organizations, they should be shut down, sued, leaders sent to prison or deported etc.
I am still waiting for this to be truly treated as a war, illegals rounded up and sent back to their home country, not given amnesty. That is just for starters. Mandatory increases in car milage, not in 12 years but in one. Maybe SUVs only allowed on the road two days per week.
However, my biggest worry is that under the cover of fighting terrorism we lose our freedoms. Then they have won. The 1st, 4th, 5th, and 6th amendments are under attack. Democracy is no excuse to stand there and let your throat be cut, but it is fragile and must be nurtured.
Someone mentioned in another thread, the cost of a round. I can load you some for much cheaper than that, and with a much more 'effective' warhead.
One day, the remnants of the USA root citizenry will wake up and use them against those who are enemies of the nation. The country(it's government) just isn't willing to identify their enemies and cleanse the nation of them as of yet.
This isn't anything new, empire's have risen and fallen following the same course the USA is on now. europe will fall again for the same reason, as it always has done.

{May 2/04}, has an expose' of CAIR-CAN, the Canadian clone of CAIR. CAIR-CAN had an audience along with other 'cultural 'groups April 21 with Canada's deputy Prime-Minister and 'homeland security' minister Ann McLellan, a consultation on on public safety and emergency preparedness!

(Ottawa, Canada - 14/07/2004) The Canadian Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-CAN) today called on local officials to condemn the recent vandalism of the Umar mosque in Hamilton, Ontario. CAIR-CAN also called on Hamilton police to treat the incident as a possible hate crime.
Recent reports indicate that vandals have thrown eggs at the mosque three times in the last two weeks.Two of the attacks occurred during prayers.In a statement issued today,
CAIR-CAN wrote:
"In Islam, mosques are not simply places of worship, they are also social and community centers.
"We need to hear a clear message from our officials that this type of hate activity will not be tolerated in Hamilton or in any other Canadian city. We are calling on Hamilton police to investigate this string of vandalism as possible hate crimes.
WOW,so eggs have more rights than Humans in Islam.When the Mosque is empty it's only a building,idolatry give it value and Muslims need to stop putting God inside cement and bricks.
Of course,storing weapons in a Mosque is allowed if it's to defend Islam from other Muslims.
