Iran's morality police have made several raids in Tehran, in an apparent crackdown on women who flout the strict Islamic dress code.Witnesses said dozens of young women were held in the raids on shopping centres and shops in the capital.
Police also confiscated several items of clothing deemed to be too revealing.
After winning parliamentary elections in February, hardliners warned they would not tolerate what they described as social corruption.
However, the clampdown could be the usual summer anti-vice operation, correspondents say.
Since the 1979 Islamic revolution, Iran's laws say all young women must wear the veil and a long coat that conceals their figures, or face fines or even imprisonment.

Muslims are far too hung up on clothing...we were at a waterslide park on sunday and there was a very large group of muslims there, some women were covered fully and others were just wearing the headscarf...all women were wearing a long black shapeless gown that reminded me of a priests gown the way it buttoned down the front. The men were all in dress pants and button down short sleeve shirts...my sons and I were waiting in line near the bottom of the slides and we were cracking up when the men came down the slides FULLY CLOTHED..lol..my husband (who can be a bit of a trouble maker) stripped off his shirt and strolled over to the baking women and casually asked the time....my stomach hurt I was laughing so hard...those women looked as though they were going to die, honestly like allah himself was gonna come up from hell and grab them...and BTW the men didnt seem to mind the show of skin by us infidels...in fact I think they were rather enjoying it...and oddly enough they (these guys were mostly 40's) were mostly looking at young girls (probably between 13-16)...carrying on the pedophile tradition I guess...
One other thing I noticed, every single woman had at least 2-3 very young children, these babies couldnt have been a year apart...breeding machines.

Actually, the whole cover up the women so they don't look like anything but shapeless blobs, reminds me of something I heard about the Victorians a few years back. In the 1890's they had a tradition of covering up anything with legs, including furniture. This was done with a tasteful skirt that reached to the ground. Of course the reason this was done was that sex was very much on the mind of the people in that era.
Flash forward to today. All of this, cover up the women stuff in the Muslim world is just an advertisement of how much sex is on the brains of these people. They criticize us in the West for decadence, but really they have their own brand of it - otherwise such covering up would not be necessary.
