Funny thing: I never thought of oil refineries as a popular tourist destination. I wonder if this is the same guy who was taking pictures of a Texas chemical site last winter.
HOUSTON (Reuters) - Law enforcement officials said on Monday they are looking for a man seen taking pictures of two refineries in Texas City, Texas.Texas City, located on the Texas Gulf coast about 30 miles south of Houston, has three refineries including the largest U.S. plant operated by BP Plc., which is the third-largest U.S. refinery, processing 470,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
The man, described as white with dark hair, was seen taking pictures outside the refineries, all located on the same highway, at about 5 p.m. CDT on Saturday, said Bruce Clawson, emergency management and homeland security director for Texas City.
While it is not illegal to take pictures of a refinery from a highway or street, officials would like to talk to the man to find out his reason for taking the photographs.
"This is based on the idea that al Qaeda does its homework," Clawson said. "That's not to say we don't have enough home-grown idiots already who might want to do something."
Highly suspicious and hope this guy is located SOON.There's a hint of Al Quaeda 'Smoke' here and huge oil refinery would make for devastating 'Fire.'
I'm not suspecting foreign involvement on this one. I can't say why, but my gut reaction is that this sounds like a domestic, Tim McVeigh-type.
Or a tourist. I do confess to taking Jenn down to the edge of the Susquehana River in Goldsboro, and taking a number of pictures of Three Mile Island.
This is in my backyard. Does it make me nervous? You bet. Seems like anyone taking pics should be suspect at this point in time. We pray alot down here.

Does anyone realize the disaster at Texas City, TX circa 1947 when a spark ignited a fire on board a fertilizer ship causing the death of approximately 1,000 people?! Think of how that area has grown in the almost 60 years since?! Houston and Galveston et al plus enormous shipping all congregated in Galveston Bay and rimmed with oil refineries! I shudder to contemplate these non-human killers' cold blooded atheistic designs.
Remember the French supply ship,Mont Blanc (trust the French to screw up) laden with munitions, 35 tons of benzol, 300 rounds of ammunition, 10 tons of gun cotton, 2,300 tons of picric acid (used in explosives), and 400,000 pounds of TNT,
that blew up in Halifax, 1917 which took out the whole town, creating the biggest man-made explosion before the nuclear age.
Over 1,900 people were killed immediately; within a year the figure had climbed well over 2,000. Around 9,000 more were injured, many permanently; 325 acres, almost all of north-end Halifax, were destroyed.
Much of what was not immediately leveled burned to the ground, aided by winter stockpiles of coal in cellars. As for the Mont Blanc, all 3,000 tons of her were shattered into little pieces that were blasted far and wide. The barrel of one of her cannons landed three and a half miles away; part of her anchor shank, weighing over half a ton, flew two miles in the opposite direction. Windows shattered 50 miles away, and the shock wave was even felt in Sydney, Cape Breton, 270 miles to the north-east.
Imagine a similarly explosive laden terrorist ship entering a port, which are now much more built up, with hundreds of thousands living in them.
