CAIRO, Egypt - An online statement by a group representing itself as al-Qaida's European branch threatened on Saturday to turn Australia into "pools of blood" if it doesn't withdraw its troops from Iraq.It was the second statement in a week by the Tawhid Islamic Group, a previously unknown group which on Wednesday threatened attacks in Bulgaria and Poland if their troops remained in Iraq.
"We call upon you to leave Iraq before your country turns to pools of blood," the statement warned the Australian government.
"We will shake the earth under your feet as we did in Indonesia, and lines of car bombs will not cease, God willing," the statement said, referring to the 2002 Bali bombing that killed 202 people, many of them Australian tourists.
The al-Qaida-linked Jemaah Islamiyah was blamed for that attack.
The Tawhid statement also warned Italy to comply with an earlier warning.
"We advise you to accept our offer and if you don't, you will see the lines of cars laden with explosives hit your towns and turn your nights to mornings, God willing. We swear you will see hell with your eyes," the Tawhid statement said.
These threats remind me of the threats of Palestinians to "open the gates of hell" and "unleash rivers of blood" in Isreal after Sheik Yassin was executed.Since then Hamas leader Rantisi was executed and the Palestinians are now killing each other.I wonder if Jihadist will be able to come up with new threats, the same old threats are becoming tiresome.I also wonder how much longer it will be before the world gets fed up and puts islamofascists out of their misery once and for all.

I don't think that labor will win this election though, as mark latham is a guy who loves his cannabis too much.
Latham wants the troops home by christmas. But what he fails to realise is that alot of the troops (excluding the Navy/AF logistics) are there to protect diplomatic institutions (embassies). Latham needs to improve relations with the US, as they are our strongest and most important ally.

Latham is a poor leader. Beazley is the only prominent figure in the party with a sense of genuine leadership. Go to your nearest university and enroll in some critical thinking classes, or even some classes on philosophy. Re: sharks, mercury poisoning. What I've heard is that any deep-sea type fish is a bit high in mercury, and not just here in Oz. It applies to swordfish, tuna, shark, marlin, etc., all over the world. If you don't eat tons of it, you should be okay, so no need to panic. Like anything - everything in moderation. Eat a bit of the big fish, a bit of the smaller fish, no worries. It seems like everything is contaminated these days. You can't stay away from everything that might have traces of something harmful, or you'd starve or die of thirst.
I dread labor being voted in. I see it as a distinct possibility. Unfortunately there are lots of naive people in denial here, just as anywhere. Look at Canada. The anti-Americanism is unbelievable. Many will cast their vote solely on the premise that they don't like Howard being so cozy with Bush - I've heard people state this outright. They don't bother to think about the advantages of being partners with the US, just that we're Aussies, oi, oi, oi, and should stand on our own, too right mate! Isolationism to the point of ignorance. I love this country, but having lived overseas for half my life, the isolationist type thinking is very frustrating. Most have never been overseas so can't see anything other than what's in front of their nose. Many pine for the old glory days of Oz, when we were "the lucky country", very wealthy, had loads of money, an easier life (or so they all insist). Many think we can go back to that long-gone era, not understanding the big picture, the global issues, the changed times.
But if there were attacks here, i.e., car bombs, I can see a bit of backlash happening. There is still a lack of suffocating PC here. People feel free to spew whatever they want, on the radio, in the papers (the ones that aren't too left). Muslims wouldn't fare too well here. They could expect revenge attacks. Indiscriminate, and targetting the innocent (as innocent as a Muslim can be). But they haven't exactly been endearing themselves to Australians lately. Oh, we'll have the arty-farty types crying to the media about how Islam is all about Peace and how these attacks would be so racist, so un-australian, but I don't believe that many Aussies are that convinced, or brainwashed. Lots of yobs (rednecks), or at least yobbo thinking, which is actually quite refreshing sometimes, in this stultifying PC world. I was recently at a dinner party, where there were 4 teachers present. When the conversation got to terrorism, I was prepared for a lot of sickening PC rubbish from the teachers, but amazingly they were very well informed about Islam and what's behind the terror. So all is not lost.
