A Norwegian politician is under fire for "anti-Muslim" remarks. From Aftenposten, with thanks to the many who alerted me to this:
Populist Norwegian politician Carl I Hagen has a long track record of provocation in Norway. His latest frontal attack on Muslims at a Christian gathering this week may set a new record for the degree of reaction he's getting. Rival politicians are blasting remarks made by Progress Party boss Hagen that compared Muslims to Hitler, poked fun at Mohammed and raised fears that Muslims are trying to take over the world.Local theologists say they're shocked, a university professor claimed Hagen went way too far this time, and at least one anti-discrimination organization is threatening to sue him.
Hagen's outbursts came during a speech he made at a Christian festival in Bergen on Tuesday.
"The Islamic fundamentalists, along the same lines as Hitler, made it clear a long time ago that their long-term plan is to 'Islamify' the world," Hagen claimed. "They're well underway, they've come far in Africa and are on their way into Europe, and then we have to fight it."
Hagen also talked about children being used as suicide bombers. "We Christians are very concerned about children, 'Let the children come to me,' said Jesus," Hagen declared. "I can't see Mohammed saying the same."
That remark spurred laughter and applause from his Christian audience, perhaps encouring Hagen to add: "If he (Mohammed) did say such a thing, it must have been: 'Let the small children come to me, so that I can exploit them in my effort to make the world Islamic."
The article goes on to quote Norwegian politicians and Muslim leaders who are outraged that Hagen criticized not only "Islamic fundamentalists," but Muhammad himself. Yet I suspect that if Hagen had said similar remarks about Jesus Christ, those politicians would be in the forefront of his defenders, explaining that he was only exercising his freedom of speech.
Those who live in a free society, you see, have to accept criticism of their beliefs as part of the societal landscape. If I demand that such criticism be silenced, then I too can be silenced on some other pretext. Muslims, if they wish to live in free societies, have to accept peacefully that some people are going to criticize Muhammad and Islam, just as people criticize every other religious tradition with great verve and enthusiasm -- do a Google search for "Jesus" and you'll see. If they, in turn, respond to the criticisms with reasonable answers, they will have embarked upon the great debate that has characterized Western society for centuries, and which is a hallmark of free society. If, on the other hand, they simply demand that critics be censured, they have not grasped one of the first principles of life in the Western societies in which they have settled.
Reza~ your comments please? On what Mr. Spencer wrote in this article. Explain to me how this is 'hate' and 'fear-mongering.'
Vikings had a word 'skraelings'.Perhaps Carl Hagen should have used it.He could have claimed immunity on ethnic grounds. One thing for sure Norway could do with more Viking spirit instead of Wimp PC.
Norwegian theologians
are shocked at this?
They should read
the mohammedans' holy texts,
explore the bliss
of mo's virgins in heaven,
study jihad in Khaybar,
contemplate the laws of shariah
and what they mean to the Free.
All over the world,
theologians speak
without knowledge,
can't see the reality
of their dhimmitude.
How sad, how disgusting
they don't understand
the precious jewel
they hold in their own hand, christianity.
My life's goal is to insult and offend the politically correct order I live in.
For example in my car's rear back window I've posted a sign:
"Deport Illegal Aliens!"
I see many stunned and astonished faces. They seem to be saying "how could you say such a terrible thing", as their mouth drops open and their eyes grow wide.
(I also think the Mexicans and other groups aren't used to seeing a white man with cajones.)
Note: being in the country without a visa is a FELONY.
My point is this: unless we vigorously attack the P.C. order we shall end up hounded and harrassed like this guy from Norway.
Now get out there and offend someone!

I can see no similarity with the concept of moral and justice found in Christianity, Hagen said. Hagen also said that if Israel loses in the Middle East, Europe will succumb to Islam next, if Islamic fundamentalists have it their way. -That's why Israel must be defended, Hagen stated, while at the same time emphasizing that there are also good and decent Muslims. Thelogian at the University of Oslo, Oddbjoern Leirvik, says Hagen's speech may be compared to the agitation against the Jews in the 1930s.

Hagen, head of Norway's second-largest party, the Progress Party (Fremskrittspartiet), says he has no regrets for publicly relating his fears of Islamic fundamentalists, or his belief that Christians should oppose Islamic inroads into Europe. But in fending off a barrage of criticism for his remarks, he says he'll consider an invitation from an Islamic advisory council in Norway to learn more about the religion.

The Muslims Thyra Græsdal and Ashfaq Sadiq filed a formal complaint against party leader Wednesday and claim that he has breeched the blasphemy paragraph. «We can not accept an attack of this dimension,» Sadiq said to the paper Dagbladet. «We will fight for a clear line in society which supports political and religious freedom. Hagen’s statement breaches UN’s human rights and the Geneva convention.»

Well done Mr. Hagen! I only wish more 'leaders' had the testicular fortitude to call a spade a spade regarding islam's political ambitions.
The truth is a muslims worst enemy...
Carl Hagen has simply spoken the truth. What is remarkable is that this should be remarkable. Who are those in Norway who attacked him? And on what grounds? What did he say that cannnot be supported by a consideration of the evidence? Those who are called "Muslim extremists" have one thing in their favor -- they are telling the truth about what Islam teaches, and what, during 1350 years, Muslims have understood it to teach. If one looks, not at the sanitized present (just consider who is now teaching about Islam in most of the Western world)but at the Western scholars of Islam whoeither because they write about specialized topics (Vryonis, Dadrian), or outside the West (K. S. Lal, Sita Ram Goel, Koenraad Elst), or because they wrote when the Western world had not yet succumbed to its policy of systematic appeasement, via the Euro-Arab Dialogue, which was reflected immediately, as required, in changes in the teaching in Europe about Islam (Abel, Bousquet, Vajda, and many others, including non-scholars who nonetheless wrote home truths, such as Andre Servier in "Islam and the Psychology of the Musulman").
Hagen tells the truth, and he is shouted down as telling the truth, treated as a virtual Enemy of the People. There was a once a famous play, by a celebrated playwright, about this very subject: a brave man, who dares to tell a truth that others simply do not want to hear, and instead of heeding what he says, they punish him. The name of the play was "An Enemy of the People." And the name of the playwright was Ibsen. And the country he came from was -- Norway.
Anyone in Norway remember that play, or that playwright, or what happened to the townspeople who punished the hero?
These are the horrible comments?? Sheesh! They sound pretty reasonable to me - if not a bit understated. It is simply amazing how hypersensitive the Muslims are about EVERYTHING.
When I think about that "sensitivity," I am reminded of the female journalist in Nigeria who made an innocuous comment about some women in a local beauty contest who were so pretty that even Mohammad might find them attractive and want one of them for a wife. This minor comment became an incredible deal for the Muslims and they started a fight over it, killing a number of people.
Isn't it amazing though, how people who are afraid of a bully are so willing to criticize other people for standing up against them? I wish I had his email address; I would go out of my way to say, "Good job, Mr. Hagen! Don't let the cowards and the bastards get you down."
Are there any false claims about Islam in his remarks?
NO!
Hagen's comments are identical to those that anyone that has done even the simplest study of Islam could make. He was being truthful. Blasphemy? Muslims are not thin skinned. Islam can't stand up to critical review and they know it! Thus, they will permit no discussion.
Beware. Speech is not a hate crime in America, but under pressure, activists judges could make it so!
Is Europe waking up? Looks like it. This is the vital issue of out time: the survival of Western Civilization.
Fact: In the 1300 years since the pedophile, mass-murderer muhammed cursed the world with his presence, Western countries with a large "minority" population of muslims has seen bloodshed.
THEY WILL NOT ASSIMILATE!!!!
Al
There is not one word of untruth in his statements.
So how can anyone sue him? they would have a bugger of a time in court, but I hope they try.
The courts are supposed to uphold TRUTH and JUSTICE. Last I looked, freedom of speech was held dearly in Norway.
I suspect all the complainers are the muslims, and they are bitching bcause he told the truth about Muhammad.
He forgot to mention what Muhammad did to little baby girls though.
The muslims are a bit more passive in Norway it seems, however. they didn't kill 200 people and burn down businesses and churches like they did in Nigeria at the Miss world contest.

Sparks fly after sex on stage
Sparks are predictably flying after an act at a Norwegian music festival Tuesday suddenly featured live sex on stage. Local police are investigating the incident and a local politician from the Christian Democrats says he'll file charges. Festival organizers claim they weren't told about the sex stunt and wouldn't have approved it. (picture)
Public fornication is ok, but don't say the truth of Muhammad.
Another thing I noticed "Christian Democrats" !!!!
What the heck is going on in Norway??? LOL!
The performers of the sex act, Tommy Holm Ellingsen and Leona Johansson, are known for donating revenues from an Internet porn site they run to save rain forests around the world.
They sound like immoral loony lefties alright...
Interesting that simple statements of truth can raise such a ruckus in any country. The Scandinavain countries, however, have kept a socialist conscience for a long time, and have some of the most liberal asylum laws on the planet--as if, in the cases of Norway, Finland, and Denmark, they never suffered invasions from nasty, dictatorial regimes . Hagen's remarks are all the more encouraging for that reason.
