BARCELONA - Amnesty International and Greenpeace condemned the Spanish government Friday for exporting arms to war-torn Sudan despite a European Union ban.The civil rights and ecological groups said Spain was selling light arms and munitions to the Sudanese government, according to an investigation by researchers from the Autonomous University of Barcelona.

Amnesty and Greenpeace claimed Inland Revenue records between February 2003 and January this year showed Spain exported EUR 8,000 worth of small arms and munitions to Sudan, breaking the EU human rights embargo.
Both groups called on the Spanish government to accept responsibility for the sale of these arms and the breaking of the EU sanctions.

Sorry to rain on the parade folks, this is nothing more then another in a line of smears, though this time correct in facts, leaked to organizations outside the socialist government, to repeal the good image the former PP government had, and replace it with some sort of 'evil' stance. Comes on the heels of reports that Aznar was to have paid lobbyists to get him the Congressional Gold Medal (through leftwing radio station Cadena SER), and a spat in which the socialists 'accused' Aznar (mostly through the anti-PP press) of withholding intelligence documents pertaining to the March 11 bombings. The last one already seems to have fizzled, by the way.

Only American military personnel or veterans can be awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. Aznar doesn't qualify on several fronts.

Maybe they are talking about the Medal of Freedom, which the President awards to civilians? Still, I have never heard of the President awarding the Medal of Freedom to a foreigner.
In any case, Aznar is not eligible for the Medal of Honor, which is far more prestigious than the Medal of Freedom. Socialists are butt-brains.
Selling arms to the Sudan is bad. What about not only sales of arms, but arms given free of charge, to the sinister state of Egypt, by the taxpayers of the United States? Egypt is a center of Islamic propaganda, antisemitism, and possibly the worst anti-American sentiments anywhere in the world -- despite the $60 billion dollars that Egypt hs received in aid from the United States. I leave it to you to answer the question -- What's Wrong With This Picture?
