ANKARA (AFX) - Turkey has received intelligence that the al-Qaeda network may try to carry out attacks in the country similar to the Sept 11, 2001 attacks in the US, the Milliyet newspaper reported.Citing "an important source" the newspaper said Turkey received information on July 16 that Al-Qaeda may be planning to either hijack a plane and crash it into a target on the ground, or blow up a plane in the air using homemade explosives.
Milliyet said the interior ministry convened an urgent meeting of security and air authorities last week and ordered security measures at airports be raised to "level yellow", the highest state of alarm after the top "level red".
Looks as though the rest of the islamic world don't like the fact that Turkey's become the first properly civilized muslim country. Lets hope that if Turkey do fall victim to a terrorist attack of that magnitude , they begin to see their religion and fellow muslims for what it is/what they are. And that they are simply being punished for , not hating the west and not being part of the global terror scene (I'm not speaking for all of Turkey just the majority of the people , I'm sure there are "militant" groups their too, it just wouldn't be an islamic nation without it).

One should not confuse attacks in, or on, this or that country with the real nature of that country. Al Qaeda may attack foreigners in Saudi Arabia because the Al-Saud are "corrupt" and therefore, as everything that is wrong must be placed in an Islamic context, with an Islamic vocabulary, "Infidel" -- but the same House of Al-Saud, and the people of Saudi Arabia, who may be occasional targets of a particular group of Muslim terrorists, themselves support the Jihad, by sending money to all terrorist groups that take Infidels as their sole targets, or at least leave Saudi interests alone. Furthermore, every mosque, every madrasa, supported by Saudi money (and the line between the "government" money and that of "individuals" is extremely porous, and one should assume that any rich Saudi owes his fortune mostly to his government connections, and almost all Saudis, with a handful of exceptions, fully support the orthodox view of the necessity of Jihad, and fully share the contempt, and hatred, directed at Infidels, and inculcated in every way, and at every level, by Saudi schools, mosques, and media.
Turkey may be a target of some Muslim terror groups, but that does not imply that Turkey should now be welcomed with open arms in the E.U., where not only its Muslims, but those non-Turkish Muslims who make their way through Turkey, would inevitably change forever the demographics of Europe, and hasten its islamification -- just as, perhaps, there is still a chance for a sufficient number of Europeans to come to their senses, and to protect, for the sake of their children and for the sake of free thought and culture, their own countries from the disasters that 30 years of appeasement have aused, and are continuing to cause.
