It's sad to see how far the intelligence services have sunk. Sibel Edmonds should be given a medal and a promotion. The sad cliche, "close enough for government work" seems to have been the norm. Her supervisors should be examined and perhaps censured for their inadequacies, and I hope that the misleading and duplicitous translators were prosecuted, removed from their posts, and fined, if not encarcerated for their treachery. This doesn't give one confidence in the ability of the government to do a primary function: protect the citizens of the United States.

According to an article recently published in Aviation Week and Space Technology, China Great Wall is interested in Bigelow's inflatable space station.

I've thought about voting for the BNP (British Nationalist Party) but they got slated in the press the other week for being "new age nazis" , just because the exposed the koran live on TV (C5 news), and because the BBC (hawk!!!spit!!!) did a prying documentary that spyed on them , capturing every little racist comment on camera (like their not allowed to have their own opinions).
Now because of this shit-spraying doc', the public have kinda booed them off stage and police can even be arrested for being part of their group, sad isn't it.

"Traduttore traditore" is a famous Italian phrase: The translator is a traitor. Its original significance was to point to the impossibility of complete fidelity to the text, especially the text that is most verbally rich, full of allusions and wordplay and figures of sound for which it is a nightmare to find equivalences.

But the phrase has been given new meaning by the Sibel Edmonds case, and the charge that translators from key languages, these modern, non-poetic traduttori of the plans, and schemes, and threats of those Muslims promoting war on the Infidels, in the employ of those very Infidels, may be deliberately omitting key words or passages, or leaving them out -- or, indeed, deliberately not translating certain documents and assuring their innnocent Infidel bosses that "these are not really worth translating."

There has to be a decision, a no-nonsense decision, not to employ those who are security risks. These include virtually all Believers, for how can someone who claims to believe in the Qur'an and hadith, someone that is who claims to accept the more tyhan 140 verses about Jihad, who accepts a belief-system that takes as its guiding principle, its center, its basis, the division of the world between Believer and Infidel, between dar al-Islam and dar al-Harb, and in every element of what it teaches, emphasizes loyalty only to fellow Muslims, and distrust, even inculcated hatred, even inculcated murderous hatred, to all Infidels. It is not enough to have someone who has never given any outward and visible signs of fervency or fanaticism. There is case after case of those who showed no such signs, and then -- sometimes without giving much outward notice -- turned into a fervent Muslim. Think of Mike Hawash, the Intel engieneer, with his $360,000 a year salary, American family, and seemingly complete integration and acceptance of, and by, his Infidel neighbors and employers, some of whom rather noisily (and now embarrassedly) assured one and all that "Mike was okay, Mike was innocent."

One is constantly startled by the level of naivete shown by American officials, by the F.B.I., by the C.I.A. Perhaps there is just no way to get it into the thick skulls of people, or at least enough of those people, that the teachings of Islam make Believers into security risks. What about Sibel Edmonds herself? Perhaps she calls herself a "Muslim" or perhpas not. But in her case, I think, it is clear that her link to Islam is of the most tenous, "I-was-born-into-it-but-I-don't-really-believe-any of-it" variety. Her Azeri and Turkic background (and is she, possibly, the child of refugees from Khomeini? Or one of those figures, of the kind that could be a character in "Ali and Nino" who come out of that geographically, but are simply too intelligent to remain intellectually bound by Islam?) are not guarantees of fidelity, but certainly what is now known suggests that it is not she, but others, who are “traditori " as yet undetected.

Only those who are native speakers are likely to be able to detect who can be trusted, and who cannot, among other native speakers. It takes a southerner to be able to say, with assurance, that this man is from Mississippi, and this from North Carolina, and this from southside Virginia. It takes a New Englander, 80 years ago, to detect whether someone was from the Vermont side, or the New Hampshire side, of the Connecticut river.

Four pools of reliable translators exist: first, Maronites who have suffered from both the PLO and Lebanese Muslims during the Civil War; second, Copts who have fled Egypt, and possess both a native speaker’s knowledge of Arabic, and, because of the courses or indoctrination in Islam that they were forced to endure in schools, a good command of Islam and the mental makeup of its adherents: third, Mizarahi Jews, who speak Arabic of many different dialects and accents (from the Yemen, Iraq, Syria, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria), fourth, the secularized exiles from the Islamic Republic of Iran, especially those with an undying hatred of the regime and its islamization of the country. Of course membership in these groups does not guarantee trustworthiness. If Egyptian Copts can pass as Muslims, then the reverse is also true; there may also be Copts whose relatives are being held hostage in Egypt and are under pressure to be double-agents for Islam. There are, among the Iranian exiles in Los Angeles, even children of those who detest the regime and are alienated from Islam, who re-embrace what they see, so wrongly, as their “Muslim identity” (just as Russian exiles from the Soviet Union may discover, to their dismay, that their own American children echo leftist sentiments or worse).

The level of understanding and of consquent wariness seems to be remarkably low. One reads that the F.B.I. actually entrusts important intelligence tasks to Muslim agents, Believers who have given no sign of not being disaffected or apostates. There are reports (see former F.B.I. agent Wright on this) who have refused to wear wires when talking to fellow Muslims, or otherwise have failed to perform tasks they were assigned in investigating fellow Muslims. Yet they have been retained, not discharged, or perhaps – charged.. Refusal to fully perform a task is bad enough, and ought to be reason for discharge; what needs to be understood is that such behavior is not bizarre nor unexpected; it naturally reflects the teachings of a belief-system that places loyalty to fellow Muslims above any loyalty to the government or citizens; what if one actually helped others to escape investigation, or to flee once investigated, like two of the seven men in the Holy Land Foundation who managed, somehow, to flee abroad?

In France, the pool of Arabic-speaking agents can be found among Lebanese Christians who have fled, and a greater number of, non-Arab Berbers adept at, because possessing a native knowledge of, Algerian and Moroccan versions of spoken Arabic. No doubt the French have found useful Berber, or Kabyle, resentment against Arabs, a resentment that may help to explain the higher rates of apostasy among the Kabyles: if Islam can be seen for what it has always been, a vehicle of Arab imperialism, then the chances of winning real, rather than the feigned, allegiance of Berbers, Kurds, and other non-Arab Muslims increased. It is worth noting that while Chirac and Dominique de Villepin and those members of the French elites who permitted such unchecked, and unopposed, Muslim migration into France, have proven themselves fools and traitors to their own people and their own civilization, the French security services and the military are more keenly aware of what Islam represents than are those in the naïve American services. There is a certain hardness in the attitude of these services, a complete absence of illusion. It should not be forgotten that it is writers in French, including a number who lived and worked in Algeria, who have left some of the best work on Jihad and the status of the dhimmi. One thinks of Edmond Fagnan (“Ler Djihad ou Guerre Sainte seolon l’Ecole Malekie was published in Algiers in 1908), of Armand Abel, G. Vayda, Charles-Henri Dufourcq, and others, including, at the present day, Bat Ye’or herself, Anne-Marie Delcambre (whose little guide “L’Islam des Interdits” published by Desclee Brouwer is having an effect), and Jean-Paul Charnay’s “Principes de strategie arabe.”) . Just as a Hindu is most likely to be able to distinguish, from 50 years, a fellow Hindu from a Muslim (a task easier, for complicated reasons, in Great Britain rather than in the United States, where facial expressions and other revealing features tend to blend), or as a Frenchwoman can distinguish, at 50 years, a French from an Italian,, or just as a Mississipian may be able to distinguish someone from the same state from, say, someone from Alabama), there are all sorts of clues, all sorts of verbal and non-verbal signs, that help to figure out just what someone’s background may be, and where their allegiance may lie, and just how strong their advertised loyalty may, or can be.

In innocent, easygoing, diversity-worshipping United States, the police, the F.B.I. and other organizations, far from being too ruthless (which is what some speakers at the Democratic Convention in Boston would have us believe), have been tiptoeing around so as not to offend Muslim sensibilities, perhaps in the vain hope that this is the way to win the cooperaton of Muslims. It isn’t. Fear of losing one’s citizenship, or of one’s student visa, or of one’s livelihood, fear that is of being deprived of something that is of great value, is the only way to overcome the inculcated hostility toward Infidels, the manichaen division that is at the heart of Islam, between Believer and Infidel. Nothing else will work except to impress upon Believers that the doctrine of Necessity, or “Darura,” will require them to collaborate, because they, and other Muslims, and Islam itself, will suffer more if they do not collaborate than if they do. When Robert Mueller held, after 9/11/2001, his much-criticized meeting with leaders of a doubtful Muslim group (and all of them turn out to be doubtful – ther e is hardly a meeting that does not end with the subsequent revelation that so-and-so at the meeting has spoken out for terrorists, or is under investigation, or is about to be arrested, or has been arrested, or is about to be convicted. How much of this is going to continue to go on, until all such “outreach” nonsense – which only deprives the FBI of the one weapon that really works – fear of real consequences if there are further attacks, given that Muslims have failed so singularly to demonstrate their loyalty (unlike, say, the Japansese-Americans who volunteered for the army the day after Pearl Harbor – one such example appearing on the obituary page of the latest Harvard Monthly), to this country and to those opposed to the Jihad. If loyalty is not expressed to one’s fellow citizens, the Infidels, it is absurd to have Infidels constantly worrying about offending Muslim sensibilities. Real loyalty cannot be obtained, given undivided loyalty to the umma al-islamiyya; cooperation can be obtained, especially if it becomes clear that citizenship can be stripped from those who, in taking the oath of citizenship, clearly were perjuring themselves. The more widely this is understood, the more able the FBI and the other security and police services will be able to obtain the cooperation that innocent trust, or “outreach” programs, will never deliver. The government of this and other Infidel nation states has to have a sufficient number of employees who understand the nature of Islam, and do not believe, for one minute, that it is only a “handful of extremists” who are the problem. Nor should they believe, as some apparently do, that the doctrines as to Jihad are some kind of recent invention of modern “extremists” such as Qutb, Maudoodi, Hassan al-Banna, and Sa’id Hawwa, or that those "extremists" (perfectly orthodox in their beliefs as to Jihad and dhimmitude, even if their insistence on the full implemention of Sharia rules as to women, or in the criminal law, help distinguish them) have a single, spiritual godfather in Ibn Taymiyya, from th e 1300s. (This seems to be what the authors of the Report on 9/11, though they do not shy away from the adjectives "Islamic" and "Muslim" in front of terrorism, still appear to believe, or want to believe) Ibn Taymiyya’s views on Jihad and dhimmitude are those of a thousand or ten thousand other influential Qur’anic commentators and jurisconsults, writing before, during, and after his time.

I don't have any problems with typos here and there (I make quite a few myself), but an attempt at writing content with correct spelling and a stab at something akin to grammar would be greatly appreciated, and would be much more effective in trying to deliver your message.

Political correctness has become almost a disease. A disease that has infected the body politic of the nation and has reduced the effectiveness of the immune system. The main reason for this is the presence of Muslims in the West.

Now, it is not the number of Muslims that is the problem, but that they, and their allies on the Left, have used Political Correctness to paralyse society with fear. With all due respect buddy , as a citizen of the free world you are given the freedom of choice, if you don't have time to read Hughs posts or indeed if you can't be bothered to , then you don't have to, but many of us here deeply respect Hugh and are enthralled by his informative posts.I for one always read them, and sometimes find myself sat clapping like a deranged seal,on magic mushrooms,afterwards. We need people like Hugh who are obviously of a very high level of interlect, who could sock it to the lefties who visit this site and maybe even sway them.He's also a great candidate to stand up to politicians as his views are so direct and uncompromisingly accurate that no politician worth his salt could possibly deny the validity of what he knows about jihad and muslims. Scrolling down is unacceptible, because you have to keep scrolling and scrolling to get through all of the logorrhea, every day, every post. It gets tiresome.
