Ashcroft slow to prosecute Muslim charities who fund terror groups

Why?

From Rachel Ehrenfeld in Jewish World Review, with thanks to margelfand:

Unfortunately, Attorney General John Ashcroft's Justice Department is moving too slowly to indict Islamic charitable groups in this country that collect and distribute millions of dollars to terrorists that kill innocent civilians in the Middle East daily.

It's been nearly a month, for instance, since Ashcroft announced the indictment of the Texas-based Holy Land Foundation and its leaders for providing material support to the Hamas terrorist group.

At a press conference announcing the indictment in late July, Ashcroft declared: "There is no distinction between those who carry out terrorist attacks and those who knowingly finance them," adding that the United States "will ensure that both terrorists and their financiers meet the same, certain justice."

Since then, little has transpired. The U.S. government seems to be dragging its feet on indicting those who finance Islamist terrorists — based, in large part, perhaps on sensitivity about their identity.

There should be no hesitation in removing these organizations from our society. What exactly is going on here? More Saudi behind closed doors business that no one has the stones to expose?

Ashcroft should proceed to prosecute and expel these groups that work against the United States with the same alacrity as was expressed in yesterday's announcement regarding the expulsion of illegals by the Border Patrol. The difference between the two is that the charity groups have better legal representation and can delay expulsion for years. Their attorneys should be held accountable in the same way that we hold organized crime attorneys accountable as these charities operate on the same basis but have cloaked themselves in the name of charity.

What the hell is Justice waiting for? Israel is one of our most faithful allies, what kind of recompense is this??

*blinks* KeithJoy passed up a chance to rail against Ashcroft?

I have to wonder if the Saudis realize what they are setting themselves up for in the US: Next time there is big trouble, people will know Right where to look to find islamists to vent their rage upon.

Ashcroft would be doing the Saudis a favor to kick them out.
