Daniel Pipes and I were scheduled to tape a TV program tomorrow with Nihad Awad and Hussam Ayloush of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR). But at the last minute, Awad and Ayloush backed out, leaving the producers scrambling for replacements.
I am not surprised; over a year ago Arsalan Iftikhar of CAIR refused to debate me on the Michael Medved Show. It appears that CAIR officials know well that I am ready to ask pointed questions about them and their organization.
Mr. Awad, Mr. Ayloush: name the time and place that you would like to debate, and I will be there.
UPDATE: I just got a call from the producer and found out that actually Pipes had declined some time ago to appear with the CAIR reps, so it had been going to be just them and me. Now it's going to be me with Oakland Imam Abdul Malik Ali, taped tomorrow for airing at a later date on Pax TV's "Faith Under Fire."
What a SHAME! Now this would have been an interesting [duel - oops] debate. You are too good for them Mr Pipes and Mr Spencer and Muslims

I'd be a little careful there if I were you, Mr. Spencer...two old addages come to mind:
"Fools rush in where angles dare to tread," and
"Discretion is the better part of valor."
I.e. make sure that you meet them in a public place... it wouldn't hurt to have them pass through a metal detector first, either.

The American public should at least contemplate suing all those, over the past three decades, who misinformed their government -- all those ex-ambassadors and ex-C.I.A. men on the Arab payroll, directly or indirectly -- because it can easily be shown, with quite elementary economics, that a trillion or so dollars might have been saved, through that "recapture" which could, had we not been fooled into thinking we could rely on Saudi kindness, have been attempted, and in 1973, attempted without much damage to the economy.

Here's another angle to the proposed CAIR-Spencer debate.
Suppose Mr Spencer so thoroughly trounces the CAIR people that they're stunned speechless and/or unceremoniously leave midway or something like that happens. How much media coverage would that get?
Now suppose, the CAIR guys actually manage to spin up a respectable performance, how much media attention would that get?
Point is that when Islam gets exposed, the media somehow isn't interested. Why is this so? By the laws of economics, given that there's ample demand out there for the 'truth about islam', then why isn't there enough supply?

I disagree with drisnya. Your letter is fine and I applaud your effort. We must all do all we can in the fight against jihad; don't let the negative comments of one person discourage you. Some people just can't help being judgmental and critical - if drisnya were truly interested in your message, he/she could have offered to help edit/clarify it, rather than just flaming you. Thank you both for your encouragement. I have been visiting Anti-cair since Andrew first put the site up, and I support him in many ways.
But supporting him doesn't stop CAIR's lying, trickiness and sleaze. How can CAIR be ELIMINATED? Will it take an act of legislation to outlaw CAIR? After all, they ARE supporting terrorism, if not covertly (most probably) then overtly, by their absurd silence. American justice can act quite slowly in some instances. With a few of the CAIR honchos already in prison and/or deported, that is a start. But it needs to be FINISHED.
There are many naive Muslims in the USA who THINK cair tells the truth, so they join and financially support CAIR. This quote is taken directly off the CAIR web site: "CAIR was established to promote an accurate image of Islam and Muslims in America. We believe misrepresentations of Islam are most often the result of ignorance on the part of non-Muslims and reluctance on the part of Muslims to articulate their case."
What misrepresentations would they be talking about? The ones in the koran that say to kill Jews and Christians? Or the verses in the koran that say "If the unbelievers do not offer you peace (peace meaning surrender), kill them wherever you find them. Against such you are given clear warrant (surah 4:89 and again at 91)"??? Is that NOT terrorist language? There is no difference between the ideology of the koran and the ideology of Mein Kampf.
If I were a naive Muslim who didn't read the koran, I'd believe them, too. In reality CAIR is here, biding their time, waiting and trying to turn America into an islamic country. The founder of CAIR, Omar Ahmed says, "Islam isn't in America to be equal to any other faiths, but to become dominant. The Koran, the Muslim book of scripture, should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on Earth."
So how much longer should the US government wait until they publicly call CAIR what they really are, a sleeper cell of terrorists, and deport or jail all officers and henchmen of CAIR?
