usama bin laden & ayman al-zawahiri are top leaders of al qaeda, the jihad of saudi wahhabism. they did strike the US homeland & the US responded to the attack, most visibly in Afghanistan & Iraq. sudan & iran are considered the next US targets.
al qaeda has been very active in Iraq & motivated the civilian bombings in many parts of the world, most recently, in Russia. al qaeda has much to loose if they attack the US homeland again. it may not be to their benefit to strike in the US again at this time, since we will most certainly respond. this was uncertain in jihad eyes before 911.
