Where are we in the war on terrorism? How are we doing? What's the score? How long will it last? Americans are asking these questions again and again as we approach the third anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. The questions say a great deal about how Americans view warfare as a finite undertaking with a beginning and an end. In his State of the Union address last January, reflecting the view of most Americans, President Bush stated that the war on terrorism began on Sept. 11, 2001. But many jihadists see the war as just the latest battle in the perpetual conflict of Islam vs. the Infidels that began more than 900 years ago.
In fact, nearly 1400 years ago.
The word "war" makes Americans set a goal of discernible victory – somebody surrenders, signs a document, an evil empire collapses, a wall comes down, a villain bites the dust, and life returns to normal.But in the view of the jihadists, war is not an aberration; it is a perpetual condition. As Osama bin Laden put it in his state of Islam address last January: "This clashing began centuries ago and will continue until Judgment Day."
"Combating" terrorism, the term used 32 years ago when President Nixon created the Cabinet Committee to Combat Terrorism, implies an enduring task. It has largely disappeared from the vocabulary of American officials. Wars are to be won, not waged indefinitely.
The jihadists cannot hope to win a conventional military contest. Their code is to lie in wait, attack when we are inattentive and make our lives untenable. Fighting is process, not progress oriented. It provides opportunities to prove conviction, courage and prowess. The jihadists view death not as a sign of defeat, but the pathway to martyrdom. Ultimate victory will come when God wills it.
There is no question that al-Qaeda and its terrorist allies have lost ground since 9/11. A supportive Taliban no longer controls Afghanistan. The readily accessible terrorist training camps are gone. Governments regarded by the jihadists as apostate are cooperating with America and its allies. Many of al-Qaeda's top planners, mid-level leaders are dead or behind bars; others have moved up, but experienced talent is hard to replace. Improved cooperation among the world's intelligence services has made the operational environment for terrorists more dangerous. Cash flow has been squeezed. Many operations have been thwarted.
But al-Qaeda can celebrate some accomplishments. The terrorist group has transcended its original organization to become an ideology shared by many. Al-Qaeda and al-Qaeda-inspired jihadists have managed to continue terrorist operations at a pace faster than before 9/11. True, the attacks in Bali, Jakarta, Karachi, Riyadh, Khobar, Istanbul, Djerba, Casa Blanca and Madrid are all at the pre-9/11 level, but still suffice for recruiting and for keeping al-Qaeda's enemies off balance.
And in the view of many jihadists, America's invasion of Iraq is a gift from Allah that has alienated U.S. allies, provoked the Arab world, exposed the United States to precisely the kind of warfare that the extremists wage best, and created a new front that will attract and train new cohorts of jihad. Security measures are costing the American economy billions of dollars and changing daily life with increased checkpoints and surveillance. And in the battle for minds, the few jihadist Web sites around before 9/11 have grown to more than 7,000.

There's NO SUBSTITUTE for Western VICTORY in this misleadingly-titled "War on Terror". I'd been thinking about how damned elusive it could be, but the radio's cheered me up a bit.
Reports tonight of the US Marines having fought their way through the casbahs of Najaf’s Old City, attaining the walls and Main Portal of the Imam Ali Mosque and sealing the Shrine off. There’ll probably be another battle to secure the building, to “lift” or kill Ayatollah Muqtada el-Sadr, unless he and his “Mehdi Army” surrender to the Iraqi National Interim Government, or else the returning Grand Ayatollah Ali el-Sistani’s latest bid “defuses” the siege first.
If they must do so, there can be NO doubt whatever that the brave Marines will have scant trouble now in soon creating the military situation required for a crack strike-force of US-supported, élite Iraqi commandos to enter the Mausoleum, to conclude this episode. The only questions are whether the Golden Dome will be standing - more or less - intact, once this combat’s over, and what will be the general ramifications (vis-à-vis Iran, for instance) if it’s not.
However, the fact that the Americans’ve been able to properly clean out the narrow, twisting alleys of the Old City, in just a fortnight’s exertions - against well-armed and -supplied, mainly local gunmen, in prepared positions in the treacherous casbah - points up that the Arabs’ old boast that, though their record in conventional, open warfare in the 20th Century’s been poor, as “guerrillas” they CAN’T be beaten, is actually HOLLOW: another Arab myth, to be discarded.

What is generally not realised is that this war, is being waged by Muslim civilians on 'Infidel' civilians. It is not the governments of Egypt or Pakistan, or its armies that are waging the Jihad. It is civilians against civilians. This is a war that each Muslim is waging on the non-Muslim, whenever the opportunity arises. It is known as the Jihad. As Islam is also a religion, there has to be a private part to the Jihad. And this I do not mean the self-improving part, but what motivates the Muslim to do Jihad.
Each and every Muslim is taught that he must wage Jihad, i.e., extend Islam by any means. This can mean converting a non-Muslim, or to donate money to the Jihad. Unless he does so, he puts his soul in grave danger, as it may be in eternal torment in the fires of hell. Remarkably, this kind of a primitive concept of heaven and hell, is still the prevailing belief of most Muslims. Thus any Muslim you initially meet, will try to assess if you can be converted. If he thinks you can, he will devote enormous effort to bring it about. Now you may think this is altruistic, but it isn’t. The reasons are purely selfish, and that is to secure his place in paradise and avoid the fires of hell. The Jihad is a matter of faith, and he will do anything (including killing a non-Muslims), to avoid his Islamic hell. In his world and to his understanding, he is not doing anything wrong; in fact he is doing right.
To fight back, we have to reduce the Ummah by converting the Muslim away from Islam.
In the counter-Jihad, it does not matter if you use subterfuge or deception. Only victory matters. The price of defeat is far too high, for any such niceties.

Great article. It's so true - we expect a conventional war, like the ones in the past. There's some battles, somebody wins, there's a document-signing ceremony, and our soldiers come home to parades. And life then goes on. That's the way it's been in the past, that's the way many of us are naively thinking it's supposed to go today.
When it doesn't go this way, because of the Islamic perpetual hatred and war mindset, we'll get dangerously impatient. We'll blame our current leaders for not coming up with the goods. The opposition leaders will also blame our current leaders, and brag that they'd do things better (with no personal experience to back that up). Easy to criticize when you're not in the hot seat yourself - armchair critics.
Here in Australia, they're going on about how going to Iraq increased the terrorism risk to Australia. How quickly they forget that Bali happened before Iraq, and that Australians died on 9/11. And the Bali bombers expressly said they did it because they hate us for who we are (non-Muslims), for how we act (dancing and drinking and having fun). So many Australians are blaming our current govt for making us targets. As if we weren't beforehand! The islamic theofascists will continue to wage a war of ideas wherever they are and wherever a western society lets them. They will do what the nazis and communists did...principly they will target any uneducated and disenfranchised people who are easily manipulated because of their resentmant at being socio-economicly unsuccessful in society into joining their islamist movement. It is as everyone knows the collapse of the czarist and german societies in the great depression and the first world war socio-economic callamities that allowed such a dissafected critical mass of people to eventuate...therefore providing enough maleable and willing recruits to make their movements a success. In many middle eastern countries such a critical mass towards islamic theofascism exists/existed and has had horrible results (socially, economically and politically) for muslims and non-muslims alike...and in some western societies it could be argued that such a critical mass could also occur if muslims as a subgroup in western society become suffiicently socio-economically empoverished, uneducated and numerous. Therefor their needs to be extra education for the muslims (and everyone) in the west...more informative education into ethical thinking and in political theory...specifically knowledge and awareness about how islamic states,just like past western totalitarian states, always result in profoundly worse outcomes for muslims than those who live in secular democracys.Unfortunately such political theory/knowledge is taught only in universities to only those very few that are interested in it...which is NOT sufficient to protect our societies from the present active totalitarian movement. Indeed there is no point in fighting amongst ourselves. There is also no point in just writing on this forum, about the evil of Islam. We have to go out and defend the values of Freedom amongst our society first. Despite everything that has elapsed since 9/11, there is still great confusion about the nature of Islam. Islam is still regarded as just another religion, like Christianity or Buddhism. And it is here, within the West, that the war will be won or lost. This is the Key point. In no way I'm suggesting that we engage in conversion of Muslims in the ME. It is impractical for obvious reasons, and besides can get you in serious trouble.
Each and every Muslim is waging a war on each Infidel, in any way that is suitable. The object being to reduce our numbers and to increase the size of the Ummah. I advocate, that we just not sit back, behaving like prey. We should not just defend the values of Freedom, but actually convince any and all Msulims we know, to turn from Islam. It may even be enough just to sow doubts.
This war is like no other war before it. It not like WWI or WWII. The nature and objectives of the enemy are completely different. It is not a Clausewitzian war. It is also the different from the Cold War, as Marxism was a rational enemy. Thus none of the prescriptions applied to previous wars, will work. It is above all a peoples war and we have to fight as peoples or as individuals.
The only way to win, is for us, each and every one of us, as individuals or in groups, to take the war to the Jihad. We can do this
1. By writing
2. Informing non-muslims of the immense danger we are in, and the future of Western civilisation.
3. By weakening a Muslim's faith in Islam. Sowing doubts whether they can ever win.
4. By debating with Muslims to get them to weaken their belief. Another advantage, by going on the offensive, it makes Muslims go on the defensive, and unable to bring the the Jihad to you.
What else can we really do? None of us has the power to nuke the enemy. Besides, such a recourse, is in effect conceding that the civilisation of which we are so proud of, is unable to hold its own in a debate with Muslims. In fact worse, as the debate is with Muslims who have emmigrated to the West, and as such, halfway to conceding the superiority of the West, by coming here.
I believe that Muslims deserve our sympathy. As humans they have been the first victims of Islam. Afterall, it was their ancestors that were forcibly converted. The brainwashing of people born in Islam is so intense, that they can see only through the distorting lens of Islam. It is almost a disability. It is the Muslim mind that has been closed to all that has been glorious in the ascent of man.
So when I say that we turn Muslims away from Islam, I do not mean conversion to some other religion, but a liberation from Islam. Muslims in the West are beginning to feel that their ideology is under attack, and many are confused. Never has this happened to the Ummah before.The increased rantings from the mosque, are a further indication of the disquiet within the ummah in the West.
We cannot just be passive armchair warriors on this blog. We can wage war right back and without recourse to violence.

Hasty posts containing puerile stereotypes or which advocate violence do nothing to promote the cause of anti-Jihad, and only contribute to the the growing coffers of organizations like CAIR.

Destruction of Archaelogical sites in Iraq, Iran which may verify Biblical truth; and seeing in contrast the way in which the Imam Ali Mosque's liberation caused such a relief to so many muslims we should really consider tit for tat destruction if any more destruction is visited on us by Al Quaeda Planes and Bombs.
