President Bush has launched a drive to halt illegal immigration across America's porous southern border, amid growing fears that terrorists may be using Mexico as a base camp before heading to Arizona, Texas and California.A string of alarming incidents has convinced Bush administration officials that lax immigration rules, designed to cope with the huge numbers of illegal entrants from Mexico, have become a significant loophole in the war on terror.
Over the past month, border agents from Arizona and Texas have anonymously reported recent encounters with dozens of Arab men, who have made their way across the 2,000-mile Mexican border.
Patrol agents told one Arizona newspaper that 77 males "of Middle Eastern descent" were apprehended in June in two separate incidents. All were trekking through the Chiricahua mountains and are believed to have been part of a larger group of illegal immigrants. Many were released pending immigration hearings. According to Solomon Ortiz, the Congressman for Corpus Christi in Texas, similar incidents are "happening all over the place. It's very, very scary".
The two groups of Arab males were discovered by patrol guards from Willcox, Arizona. "These guys didn't speak Spanish," said one field agent, "and they were speaking to each other in Arabic. It's ridiculous that we don't take this more seriously. We're told not to say a thing to the media." A colleague told the paper: "All the men had brand-new clothing and the exact same cut of moustache." Local ranchers have also reported a rise in the sightings of large groups of young males.
Last month, border patrol agents at McAllen airport, Texas, arrested a woman believed to be Pakistani, who was carrying a false South African passport. The woman, Farida Ahmed, is still being questioned by the FBI. She was travelling to New York, and admitted to having illegally crossed the Mexican border. She was still carrying a pair of wet jeans in her travel bag....
"My concern is, are we serious about terrorism?" said Sheriff Jernigan. "Or about homeland security? Because we're turning loose non-Mexicans by the thousands. Entering this country illegally is a crime, and we're turning our heads and ignoring it."
Can one of us please, please forward this to the 9/11 Commission e-mail address. I can't do it today, but if anyone else can see that it gets done, that would be great.
We should also send it to as many local news agencies as possible.

In the USA we are stuck with the rigged 2 party system. So, to influence legislation we have to organize in groups, like the NRA, and lobby -or beg - to the dominant 2 parties.
But in Britain you have a parliamentary system and can vote for parties like UKIP, BNP and VLAAMS BLOK in Belgium which are running to protect the nation from immigrant invasion.

Muslims must make a choice to stay in U.S.
With so many reports of possible terrorist plots, and with charges flying back and forth between the presidential candidates as to who can best protect us, I think we are losing sight of the constant: Our enemies are Arabs/Muslims.
They brought us 9/11, they have beheaded innocent civilians, and they are plotting against us, right here, right now. They, not George Bush or John Ashcroft, deserve your hatred and fear. Your local mosque, not Republican campaign headquarters, is where these plotters find support and funding. Their Dark Ages interpretation of Islam, not the Jews or Israel, is why they hate us.
Each time a Muslim cleric is arrested, the community insists that he is innocent. This has to stop. Muslim-Americans have to make a choice: You are Americans or you are Islamic barbarians. If you will not help law enforcement rout out the terrorists in your midst, sooner or later you will not be allowed to stay here.
America will not tolerate more 9/11s and the sight of Arabs/Muslims celebrating in the streets of American cities. As for law enforcement, it is time to take off the gloves in these communities. Arabs/Muslims know that their charitable contributions are being funneled to terrorist organizations. It is time to arrest these people as you close down their charities. Every imam should be wire-tapped; suspicious characters should be taken into custody and questioned.
But, you say, this is not the American way. Arabs/Muslims should be treated the same as everyone else. No way. They are the threat -- not Poles, or Italians, or Puerto Ricans.
If and when my people, Jews, fly planes into American buildings and threaten further attacks, we should receive the same harsh treatment.

I'm not sure about the influential kind of groups you spoke of ,although I'm sure their are I can find out for you.
Over here it's mostly the press that influences what the government do, don't do and change. For example the "asylum seeker" crisis(in other words illegal aliens) in the UK has been allowed to go on for years without challenge, but in the last few years there have been more and more newspaper reports (surprisingly from some of the more left-orientated papers as well) high-lighting what a problem it's becoming , what a drain on our economy it is and how unfair the whole thing is to british taxpayers. I mean; they had even started closing down old peoples homes just to give these parasites somewhere to live, and filling up newly built hotels, and the majority of the british public were furious. Most of us over here are sick to the back teeth with them, and the government know this, and are now under immense pressure to start decreasing the number of bogus asylum seekers, and the number of them getting in , in the first place, and with the press watching their every move, dying to expose them, we are finally seeing results.
Unfortunately the BNP which you spoke of has been slated by the press for being nothing more than "new-age nazis" , which is a little extreme, but they bought it on themselves.
It is a shame because they would make damn sure every last one of the dirty rats were deported, and would've sent their economy milking "british muslim citizens" with them.

Thanks for the reply. Our press here is so aweful, they are only interested in celebrities.
If some rock star or dried-up beauty queen witnesses an event, then it is important.
As for illegal aliens, or asylum seekers, the press is convinced that for the last 200 years nothing was accomplished until they arrived - the multic-culti thing.
