The talk in this article of an Arab super-power actually pinpoints the very reason why this conflict in Iraq was so important , it prooves that all the reasons to take down Saddams regime were the right ones. His premise was simply put:
One of the reasons, among many good reasons, to topple Saddam in Iraq and attempt to establish democracy is to show by example to the other peoples in the region that they, too, can have the benefits of democracy if they reject theocracy, islamic facism, etc. This change from within could result in possibly the loss of hundreds of thousands of moslem lives. This is, of course, the longshot hoped-for outcome.
The other, more likely scenario, is that democracy will fail in Iraq, the moslems in these countries will become more radical, the islamic countries will become more emboldened to fund and support shadowy terror groups and cells, and the USA will ultimately be hit with more strikes on the homeland. Eventually, this will lead to the American public being willing to put aside any qualms about shedding innocent moslem blood and demand disproportionate response from the USA government. Once this happens, Islamic countries around the world will start to suffer huge population and infastructure losses and the moslem populations worldwide will actually start to REALLY feel their utter defeat and must, in fact, repudiate and battle islamic fascism within their own countries or risk complete decimation.

Take the population of the non-Islamic world. Better still, take the countries that are not considered Islamic (i.e. the English Speaking World, Europe, Russia, India. China. Japan, etc). Many of the non-Islamic nations are militarily, economically, and technologically advanced. The two most heavily populated countries on earth, India and China, are not Islamic by a long-shot (though they each have a moslem population) and both have no interest in seeing Islamic Radicalism spread and cause havoc in their respective regions.
No Islamic country, or any country with an Islamic majority population, has any home-grown technology, advanced military technology, advanced medicine and agricultural production methods, advanced methods of distribution and transportation, advanced scientific research facilities nor world-class universities (Turkey is a secular government with the Turkish military specifically in the ready to quell any Islamic movements. So in some respects they are somewhat the exception as compared to other so-called Islamic nations).
Basically, the vast majority of moslems live in illiterate, militarily weak countries that only manage to survive by Western largess and oil revenues. The current state of the Islamic World, if you will, is one of abject poverty, illiteracy, and a hand-to-mouth brutal existence. Any moslems who have a relatively high-standard of living do so only because of a parasitic dependence on Western technology (such as oil processing and distribution methods).

Ideally, the responsible person would express their outrage at the deviate notions of the p,p,h,d,b-f p (t), and get all manner of supportive evidence as to why the message is illogical, freedom-hating, fanatic, and originates from a pseudo-knowledge base.
Of course, in the first place, responsible media shouldn't play a terrorist's tape, or even give notice that a terrorist said something; it simply gives attention to someone who should be ignored, and it's obviously dangerous because it fortifies the lunatic's followers.
Too many times, the message is played on the media as news, and it goes unanswered. There should be a policy of overwhelming disection and refuting of these unworthy messages if they happen to find their way (incredibly) onto the airwaves.

I know just how she felt. I would never convert to Islam. I would rather die in my faith first. After all, I am not disposed to convert to a faith that is so clearly and absolutely inferior to mine. I won't give up the gold of my faith to take on the shit of Islam.

The cause of all the problems in majority muslim countries is nothing other than islam and the shariah itself.It would be more accurately described as a plague than a religion, as it opposes and disallows completely the psycological, technological and scientific growth/progression of these 3rd world cesspits (exept as Hugh often points out the pure undeserved luck of the arabian oil treasure chest which is just an accident of geology).
Yes their population is numerous, but that is far from being any kind of advantage, on tyhe contrary actually it's more of a burden and a hinderence.Long gone are the days when the mightiest armies were the largest (that was the days of horses and swords), we are in the 21st century and now it is skill, power, quality leadership and of course technology which makes the most powerful forces.
And even if they did have one big army ready and well-trained to fight the world of infidels, they would still be out-numbered, but incidentally they haven't, and have many warring factions amongst themselves. Then there's the fact are so many deadly deseases amongst them (much of that due to lack of hygiene , famine/malnutrition, and of course AIDS and other STDs from their apparent obliviousness to contraception, which will send their numbers rapidly dropping in years to come no matter how out of control there birth rates become.
I like to think of it as a domino-effect.
