ALBANY, N.Y. - An FBI sting operation that used a purported assassination plot against a Pakistani diplomat to snare two leaders of an Albany mosque has drawn complaints from Pakistan, which issued a protest Tuesday.An FBI informant who said he was an arms dealer asked the two suspects to launder money from the sale of a shoulder-fired missile that would be used to kill Pakistan's ambassador to the United Nations, according to the federal complaint.
Pakistan's Foreign Ministry spokesman Masood Khan on Tuesday condemned the FBI sting operation, saying it was bizarre and dangerous.
"This has increased our ambassador's and our mission's vulnerability ... and could have endangered the life of our ambassador," Khan said in a statement. He said Pakistan had filed a protest with the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad.

So, it is perfectly acceptable to use international diplomats as bait in a sting operation to capture low level thugs. I'm sure this is news to Amb. Nancy Powell in Islamabad. But, of course, Americans would not file protest if Amb. Powell is used by Pakistani agents as bait to snare terrorists.

Off topic: Look, my point about the U.S. in WWII is that it came in far too late. The war for us started not in 1941, but in 1939. So, for more than two years, Americans played the fence, giving us Brits aid and resources, etc. but officially remaining neutral. U.S. antipathy to Europe caused the war to last longer than it should have. I don't think that point is arguable.
Hitler, Goring, Himmler et al. began plannning the "Final Solution" in 1933, when Dachau opened and Auschwitz was just a gleam in Reinhard Heydrich's eye. So, was Europe complicit? Of course. Chamberlain, God bless his blackened soul, was worse than the Americans in causing the Wat to last longer than it should.

To give an example, we've already acknoledged and paid Heavily for the slavery that was brought to our country. It is called the Civil War.
We Acknowledge our mistakes, Truth. We learn from them and will not repeat them. (most of the time. The smaller mistakes still get thru). That is why the US keeps evolving.

I think Truth is right here. It may be a sting operation. But if you are going to use the Pakistani diplomat as bait then you have an obligation to make them aware of this. If the operation is undercover then law enforcement needs to do a better job of keeping these details undercover.

I understand the Pakistani ambassador's reaction. In the Islamic mindset, even the most slight embarassment is grounds for overreaction, because the Koran states that embarassment is worse than death. You therefore are an Islamic sympathizer. It's this misguided and ignorant goodwill that Muslims will use to steamroll their way into countries and take them from within.

Bringing up past mistakes does nothing constructive for the future,and has no relevance in any of the topics here (because most of the people alive in the era of WW2 are long gone now and not many comparisons can be drawn).I think the yanks have shown their guilt on more than one occasion (not that they should really, it wasn't their war until the japs made it so).
