ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (AP) -- Pakistan announced Saturday that it had arrested at least five men suspected of having ties to al Qaeda who'd been plotting to launch suicide attacks on government leaders and the U.S. Embassy.Information Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed told reporters that security forces had captured five or six suspects -- one Egyptian, the others Pakistani -- in the past week across the country, and had seized weapons.
Authorities were hunting for four to five other suspects, he said.
However, Interior Minister Faisal Saleh Hayyat told The Associated Press that about a dozen suspects had been nabbed. He said they'd been planning suicide attacks on "important personalities."
Hayyat said the group wanted to hit the official residence of President Pervez Musharraf, Parliament and the U.S. Embassy in the capital, Islamabad, as well as Army House in the neighboring city of Rawalpindi.
They also wanted to target government ministers, he said.
"This is a gang of suicide bombers, and our security agencies have done a remarkable job by foiling this plot," Hayyat said, adding that those captured were "definitely linked to al Qaeda."
Dunno what is the better outcome - allowing those suiciders to succeed in speeding Musharraf and his cronies to Allah or having Mush continue to fool the west with its alleged support against terrorism.
Pak has insidiously managed to run with the hare and hunt with the hounds. Once Mush and his regime collapses, Washington will be forced to act in order to 'secure' Pak's nuke assets - a job in which they'll find all of Pak's neighbours more than helpful .
Mr Bush has truly misplaced his priorities in attacking Iraq first when he should have focussed on defanging Pak and Iran first. Isn't WMD in terrorist hands the no.1 terror threat to the US? Isn't Pak a known proliferator of WMD to Iran, Libya and North Korea - rogue states all?
Seams that Germany just arrested 11 people who had a march and the reason was they has some outlawed nazi stuff so that is against the Law in Germany Just like haveing a berr and drive-ing a car ? Seames in 99 they went to 0 tolarance so if you go to Oct.Fest better not drive?

That is what your man does!! and if we want to take out Pak we can and will if that is what it takes and this is not a mopvie it will not be the end of the world!! Just like Japan still has people live on that Island!
