Premier Condemns Death of Italian Hostage

Silvio Berlusconi who has refused to play dhimmi before has this to say:

"There are no words to describe this inhuman act that with one blow wipes out centuries of civilization to bring us back to the dark ages of barbarity," the prime minister said in a statement.

Berlusconi spoke of how Baldoni's children issued a plea on Wednesday on Al-Jazeera for their father's release, "which unfortunately turned out to be useless because it was directed at people who evidently had no heart to listen."

Unless the Muslims themselves start to bring pressure and change, this will only end in one huge confrontation, that is what they want and that is what they will get.....if the extremists keep on going, and the rest (Muslims) keep on being silent.

My hat is off to Silvio - Long live Italy!

"There are no words to describe this inhuman act that with one blow wipes out centuries of civilization to bring us back to the dark ages of barbarity,"

There is just one word....ISLAM

Viva Italia!

Folks here may recall that Signor Berlusconi had issued a provocative (by liberal standards) statement a few months ago using words to the effect that

"our (western) civilization is better than theirs (the islamic one) because ours believes in openness and freedom and is sure enough of its inherent strength to withstand dissent and questioning. Theirs radiates insecurity and fear."

Imagine George W saying something like that or even better John Kerry saying anything remotely close?!

I love Silvio. He tells it like it is. With a great big vaffanculo! to those who don't like it. I wish all our leaders had the same chutzpa when it comes to Islam. We'd have less trouble because less people would be going around with their heads in the clouds about Islam. And Islam would have less freedom to spew their hatred and misery into our countries. It would under check, which is how it should be.

Voletti: didn't he say that wonderful bit of oratory after September 11th? I seem to recall him saying something to the effect that Western civilization is vastly superior to Islamic 'civilization' - which is totally true of course. All you have to do is look around. Look at their cesspit countries and their maniacal behaviour over every little grievance (arm-&-fist-waving, rifle-shooting, car-burning, rock-throwing, body-part-waving, ranting and raving). Dark Ages of Barbarity? Yup! Totally!

My heartfelt sympathies to Baldoni's family. Yet another set of victims of that evil Islam.

Silvio is great, he says many truths and it´s rare for politics.

While I have great respect for Berlusconi, I'm sick and tired of comments such as his. Why? Because, in and of themselves, they do nothing to contain (let alone stop) the problem.

If Berlusconi wants to make a real statement, he should break off relations with Iran (assuming, of course, that Italy has diplomatic relations with Iran). Why? We all know that Iran is encouraging (if not sponsoring outright) the kind of chaos in Iraq that foments terrorism and totalitarianism.

Berlusconi should blame Iran publicly for this murder (regardless of whether it sponsored the group in question) and break off relations. He should then state that the murder of any other Italian civilians will be considered an act of war by Iran against Italy and will be met by appropriate force.

I see what Mr. D'Hippolito is saying but hey, it's all relative at least to some extent and Ithink Silvio needs to be appreciated for his candour (as compared to his counterparts in other countries). Sure, he has many failings in other areas which I'm sick of (allegations of corruption and misuse of office to stymie prosecution etc) but on the matter of jehaad, he emerges as the clear favorite on spelling out the truth.

Besides, as for Iran, from I understand, Israel - which has no diplomatic links with that mullacracy - has apparently privately warned Tehran that if it (Israel) even remotely smells any possibility of WMD deployment against its people, it will strike and take out Tehran's 2 reactors. Italy and in fact a lot of Iran's own neighbours would discreetly welcome that!

voletti, I assume you live in Italy so you know Berlusconi better than most posters (certainly more than I do). Italy may well welcome an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities but Iran can still create mischief by subtle support of like-minded mullahs in Iraq (such as al-Sadr) or various "insurgent" groups.

The point goes beyond Iran's future nuclear capacity. The West must make a concerted, unified effort to stop Iran militarily, politically and economically. If that means importing oil from other sources or developing domestic sources of oil, so be it. I understand this is far easier said than done. But it must at least start to be done.

Words are useless against these jihadist bastards. Deeds are the only things that work -- the stronger, the better.
