Al-Qaida may attempt to attack Veterans Affairs hospitals as an alternative to more heavily guarded U.S. military installations, the FBI and Homeland Security Department warn in a new nationwide terrorism bulletin.Although U.S. authorities say there is no credible intelligence regarding a specific threat against such hospitals, the bulletin said there have been persistent reports of "suspicious activity" at medical facilities throughout the United States.
Well, of course this is a logical target - soldiers who can't fight back. Al-Qaida seems to pecialize in targets that are unaware and unable to defend themselves.
I swear, these people are the most amazing cowards that walk the face of the earth.

There are some 8 million "documented" Muslims resident in the US, along with an estimated 10 million "undocumented" imigrants. Every day, more Muslims enter the US, more US citizens embrace Islam, and more Muslim children are born. The conclusion is inescapable: the United States will become an Islamic society (as will Canada).
Is it not better to accept reality rather than to live in fear and fight hopelessly in a futile attempt to turn back the clock? I've been thinking about this since 9-11. Actually way before that. It seems to me that I went to a BIG regional VA hospital to get my discharge papers to qualify for a VA loan in '94 or so... they had metal detectors and guards there, even back then. That was back when the biggest terror attack on America was the now-paltry-by-comparison Timothy McVeigh 168 (including 21 babies in the nursery... godddam... I always have to wonder why that prick didn't call in the bomb and let them evacuate. Wouldn't the bombed-out building have been enough to satisfy him? And the 9-11 jihadis, couldn't they have at least let one doomed passenger warn the WTC that an atttack was coming? The buildings and planes would have still been destroyed.)
I visit the local VA hospital several times a year. I can't attest to all of them, but mine has an armed police force.... although security is pretty lax, I must say. I have been telling my fellow college students and other poor-ass people for years that they can buy whatever they want at the VA hospital commissary, because they don't even check IDs. They don't have a good selection, but they have a few basic necessities (skivvies, a few clothes, toiletries, "room-sized" appliances, stuff geared toward travelers, etc.) I thought it was a good way to help the PX system and to save some poor people a little money.
The bottom line is this, people.
One: anything that I or you could think of has already been covered by the federal govt. I hope. Even 911 had warning signs; from now on all threats will be taken seriously.
Two: If the jihadis decide that the VA hospitals would be too hard to hit, then they will go on to target VA nursing homes... if that's too much of a risk, then they will target college dorms... if that's too much of a risk they will target civilian hospitals... if that's too much of a risk they will target day cares... the list goes on and on. If someone is religiously insane enough to want to kill some of us, he (or she, based on the most-recent data of the downed Russian planes) will find some way, some soft spot. In fact, I think they call them "soft targets."
Hotels, bars, strip joints (now that's going too damn far), apartment buildings, churches, rock concerts ... just imagine how easy it would be to target these places if you really wanted to.
A little more difficult would be some kind of poison... like a gallon or two of Mercury into a drinking water reservoir. Some of those things are miles and miles away from the cities they serve. You can get mercury out of air-conditioning thermostats pretty easy.
This is why Slick Willie wanted to put "taggants" (or whatever-some kind of tracer on the moloecular level) into the kind of fertilizer that could be used for bombs. Of course, this does nothing for the Saudi-backed terrorists with all the money in the world... they could buy real dynamite, nitro, or symtex.
I fear another attack is immeninent... maybe after this time we will wake up and seriously start to do something about terrorism.

PS... it won't help to make Middle-Eastern-looking men subject to suspicion... that's about as smart as the doctor only wearing gloves if the patient "looks like" they have HIV. Lots of Jihadis don't "look like" terrorists. Especially if they aren't looking for suicide attackers, they could just hire "normal looking" guys to do whatever. Then there's the millions and millions of Muslims that look "like us" and millions of "Average Joe" converts.
