Spencer on Kerry: Carter II?

Dhimmi and Rosalyn Carter with Jihad Watch director Robert Spencer, Plains, Georgia, 1984

Jihad Watch director Robert Spencer revisits the dark days of the Dhimmi Carter administration and the Iranian Revolution he bequeathed to us in this new piece, up today at Human Events.

Now that the Democratic Party has committed itself to warmed-over Carterism in its platform document, the comically titled "Strong At Home, Respected In The World," and Mickey Kaus has contributed a ringing endorsement worthy of the Man From Malaise ("We survived Carter and we'd survive Kerry"), it is important to remember just what we owe Jimmy Carter: a resurgent global Islamic radicalism, emboldened and directly aided by the Khomeini regime in Iran that he did so much to set in place.

A sobering reminder of just how much Carter is responsible for Iran's now sclerotic but still tenacious mullahocracy comes from Steven F. Hayward of the American Enterprise Institute in his newest book, The Real Jimmy Carter (Regnery, a Human Events sister company).

Modern Islamic radicalism, of course, was born in Egypt in the 1920s, when Hassan Al-Banna founded the Muslim Brotherhood, the primary progenitor of Hamas and Al-Qaeda. And even Al-Banna's movement was a reassertion of the political Islam that dated all the way back to the time of the Prophet Muhammad, and which had just gone into momentary eclipse when the caliphate, the seat of the political/religious successor of Muhammad, was abolished by the secular Turkish government in 1924. Although Islamic radicals achieved many partial successes in the five intervening decades, the Khomeini revolution was the first success of this newly assertive movement on a national scale -- and its effects on the global movement have been incalculable.

And Carter was instrumental in this victory. Hayward tells the full story of how Carter, through passivity and indecision, allowed the situation in Iran to drift out of control. He notes that Carter's National Security Advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski and the American ambassador in Tehran, William Sullivan, "repeatedly assured Pahlavi that the U.S. backed him fully, but in fact that backing extended little beyond private verbal cheerleading."

What's more, despite the fact that Islamic radicalism was fifty years old by the time Khomeini became a serious threat to the Shah, and that Khomeini himself had been a political force in Iran for years before he came to power, "the CIA," says Hayward, "not only hadn't read any of Khomeini's writings but didn't even have copies of them." As one State Department official put it, "Whoever took religion seriously?" According to Hayward, "Neither the State Department nor the intelligence community took Islamic fundamentalism seriously, while American scholars on Iran deprecated the idea that the clergy would participate directly in forming or running a government." The chief of staff to the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, William Miller, even recommended that the U.S. support Khomeini, who he thought would be a "progressive force for human rights."

Manifesting the same misunderstanding of the real nature of Islamic radicalism that still dogs the State Department and other agencies today, Brzezinski embarked on a plan to strengthen Islamic radicalism for the geopolitical ends of the day. According to political analysts and Iran experts Banafsheh Zand-Bonazzi and Elio Bonazzi, Brzezinski "instituted a plan to train fundamentalist Afghan Islamic mujahidin fighters in Pakistan under CIA supervision" -- for which Carter's successor Ronald Reagan is often blamed. Zand-Bonazzi and Bonazzi also point out that "the other major Islamist terrorist force active today is also the product of misguided policies of the Carter administration, which deliberately destroyed the Shah of Iran and allowed the Islamic Revolution to take place. Hamas and Hizbollah are direct emanations of the Islamic Republic of Iran, responsible for killing hundreds of Americans (recall the 1984 attacks on the US embassy and the Marine barracks in Beirut) and Israelis." Although Hamas and Hizbollah existed before Khomeini, he was instrumental in their becoming and remaining significant forces.

And Khomeini owed his own political life to Carter. As the peanut President himself put it when Pahlavi made a final appeal for help to regain his throne in February 1979, "F--k the Shah."

The bottom line? "Khomeini's regime," says Hayward, "executed more people in its first year in power than the shah's SAVAK had allegedly killed in the previous twenty-five years." Whether Khomeini in the early Eighties sent a thank-you note to the man now basking in glory as "America's greatest ex-President," who was by then down in Plains licking his wounds and beginning his path to the Nobel Prize, is not known. But should Kerry be elected, Khomeini's spiritual heirs, locked in a mortal struggle with a new movement for secularism and democracy in Iran, may start getting all sorts of new reasons to express their gratitude to the man in the White House.

Talk about Kodak moments!!!

I don't know which photo's funnier!

DEFINITELY Robert and Dhimmi.
You on the right - quit snickering!

Kerry as a Carter-like dhimmi is a fearful idea to contemplate! Carter emboldened the Islamists that are now members of the nuclear club and have struck against us with impunity as the world watches our feeble attempts to "deal with" them and others that are less third rate on the world stage.

Our national survival won't permit us to have the luxury of being able to spend four to eight years on people like Kerry, Edwards, or even Hillary Clinton.

Lets look at all we are having to deal with because of President Cart well not all but a few things?

Breaking News: Venezuela’s Recall fraud has been unveiled
By Aleksander Boyd
London 17 August 2004 – 20:33GMT – Political consultant J.J. Rendon presented irrefutable proof of the electoral fraud performed during the recall referendum in Venezuela. In Bolivar state something suspicious took place; say voting centre X has 3.000 people in the roll. Said centre has three polling booths: in number 1, 1.100 people must vote; in number 2, 1.000; and in number 3, 900 people. Tallies from booth number 1 showed 683 votes for the NO option and 103 votes for the YES option. Tallies from booth number 2 resulted in 587 votes for the NO option and 103 votes for the YES option. Tallies from booth number 3 evidenced 519 votes for the NO option and again 103 for the YES option.
Electoral officials assigned to said centre thought it was extremely unlikely to get such repetitive number of votes for the YES option. So they got in touch with other centres in the area. It turned out that tallies from other centres showed the same pattern, although diverging numbers, i.e. tallies from machines at Y voting centre showed the same consistency for instance 133 votes for the YES option repeated four times. Statistically speaking it is almost impossible for such a pattern to occur. However similar cases have been reported in Merida, Bolivar, Miranda and Anzoategui.
Naively the electoral officials from some centres in Bolivar state compared the tallies from contiguous voting machines realising that the YES option seemed to have been capped at a given number. In one case it was 103 votes for the YES option in three different voting machines; in another it was 133 votes for the YES option in four different voting machines.
Here is a more concrete example:
Nombre COLEGIO MARIA AUXILIADORA
Direccion 1RA TRANSVERSAL NO 15 MONTECRISTO
Estado EDO. MIRANDA
Municipio MP. SUCRE
Parroquia PQ. LEONCIO MARTINEZ
Total Votantes 1796
Cantidad de Votos 1389
Total SI 1065
Total NO 324
Cuaderno 1
Votos 463
SI 356
NO 107
Cuaderno 2
Votos 454
Si 353
No 101
Cuaderno 3
Votos 472
SI 356
No 116
The only way in which these doubts can be cleared is:
1. To compare and contrast tallies of each polling centre in the country where more than one voting machine were utilised to establish whether the numbers of YES votes show a repetitive pattern;
2. To add the receipts of each options (YES / NO) issued by the voting machine and compare the results with the numbers reported in the tallies.

Kerry: I Wouldn't Respond to Nuclear Attack
John Kerry told Democrats gathered in Boston two weeks ago that he defended his country as a young soldier in Vietnam and he would defend it again as president.

But as Michael Dukakis' lieutenant governor, Kerry authored an executive order that said the state of Massachussetts would refuse to take part in any civil defense efforts in response to a nuclear attack on America. The presidential candidate was an ardent proponent of the nuclear freeze at the time, and viewed Cold War civil defense preparations as an attempt to delude the American people into thinking a nuclear exchange was survivable.
Lt. Gov. Kerry's executive order on behalf of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts read in part:
"Whereas the existing and potential strength of nuclear weapons is such that nuclear war can neither be won nor survived, it can only be prevented; and Whereas the only effective defense against the horrors of nuclear weapons lies in their elimination and in the prevention of nuclear war or attacks, [the Commonwealth of Massachusetts] shall seek to ensure the safety of its citizens by pursuit of policies reflecting a serious commitment to prevention of nuclear war."
"Such policies," the Kerry directive continued, "shall include education of citizens concerning the real nature of nuclear war and efforts to influence national policy towards negotiation of an end to the nuclear-arms race."
The Kerry order stated emphatically, however: "No funds shall be expended by the Commonwealth for crisis relocation planning for nuclear war."
Monica Conyngham, Lt. Gov. Kerry's spokeswoman at the time, defended the controversial document, telling reporters, "We believe that [evacuation] plans are absolutely futile and that there are no safe havens from nuclear war."
Gov. Dukakis signed Kerry's "no nuclear defense" executive order into law on June 28, 1984.

Lets not forget the Pannama Canal??

ABOARD THE USS CROMMELIN - The U.S. Coast Guard boarded the ship in the choppy Caribbean waters and began counting crew members, but the numbers did not match those given earlier.

As helicopters whirred overhead, officials searched below deck and found a man crouched in a closet - a possible terrorist, according to information used in the weeklong anti-terror exercise aimed at protecting the Panama Canal, an essential route for international commerce. While the supposed "terrorist" was just acting, military and security officials believe the canal is a legitimate terror target.

WHO OWNS THE CANAL NOW?

Remember Clinton was going to sell it to China and Congress stopped him?

Yes it is not to change horses and look at Carter now? Sitting with Moore in his box at the Domocrat conven.?

What an extraordinary menage a trois. Was it good for you, too, Robert?

IGNORANCE IS BLISS! It's too late now but Jimmy ought to have read 'the small print'before doing any deals with the Mullahs. Same thought process which is still around now 'Islam is just another religion...'

I generally lurk and do not post very often. But it's nice, in times as dire as these, to be able to make light of something--or in this case, someone--from time to time. So tell us Mr. Spencer, what was it like being a roadie for Journey?! Man, that's alotta facial hair!

Brzezinski "instituted a plan to train fundamentalist Afghan Islamic mujahidin fighters in Pakistan under CIA supervision" -- for which Carter's successor Ronald Reagan is often blamed.

True, Brzezinski was a bit of a moron. Its a shame Regan didnt curtail the funding to the Mujahideen tho.

Simply put:

Do we want 4 more years of President Bush working to protect our country every way he, his administration, the military and the intelligence agencies can? Even with their mistakes, they will be Far better than:

4-8 years of Kerry, who will farm our military out to the UN (so he can claim he didn't put our men and women of the military in harm's way), while stuffing the courts with judges who will make it even More difficult to fight the islamofascists?

I ask for americans that vote for the welfare of the world, because if USA isn´t strong and decided, the world will come back to the invasions of barbars in the Former Roman Empire, and I am not exagerating, we need a USA with sipirit of protection because if not, many european like me are lost, greetings

Robert,
Do you still have that beard?
If you started shaving just after that picture was taken you more than likely will just have finished razoring off the last few bristles.

Clinton Gave China Chips for Nuclear War
Charles R. Smith
Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003
Newly declassified documents show that President Bill Clinton personally approved the transfer to China of advanced space technology that can be used for nuclear combat.
The documents show that in 1996 Clinton approved the export of radiation hardened chip sets to China. The specialized chips are necessary for fighting a nuclear war.
"Waivers may be granted upon a national interest determination," states a Commerce Department document titled "U.S. Sanctions on China."
"The President has approved a series of satellite related waivers in recent months, most recently in November, 1996 for export of radiation hardened chip sets for a Chinese meteorological satellite," noted the Commerce Department documents.
These special computer chips are designed to function while being bombarded by intense radiation. Radiation hardened chips are considered critical for atomic warfare and are required by advanced nuclear tipped missiles.
Judicial Watch obtained the documents through the Freedom of Information Act, a Washington-based political watchdog group.
Several documents were withheld from release by the U.S. Commerce Department for commercial and personal privacy exemptions, but none of the documents were withheld for national security reasons. Judicial Watch is expected to appeal the withholdings.
Decade of Betrayal
U.S. intelligence sources stated that the newly released documents illustrate the extent to which the Clinton White House placed trade – and trade with China specifically – above national security.
"In all likelihood we will be glowing in the dark before we discover the true extent of the Clinton decade of betrayal," stated Rick Fisher, Asian Security Fellow at the Center for Security Policy.
"If it was indeed intended for a new PRC weather satellite, then it is possible that it was used for their new polar orbit weather satellites. This is significant because the Chinese themselves acknowledge that their polar orbit weather satellites directly contribute to their long-range missile targeting capability. This becomes even more important for their new smaller but more accurate warheads, used on their new DF-31, DF-31A, DF-5 Mod2 and JL-2 missiles. If they encounter significant weather, warhead accuracy degrades, reducing their utility," stated Fisher.
"Inasmuch as similar U.S. military weather satellites perform the same missions, the Clinton Administration had to have known they were assisting a PLA strategic military capability," concluded Fisher.
In addition, the Chinese military is clearly interested in acquiring advanced radiation hardened computer chips for its strategic nuclear arsenal.
U.S. Chips for PRC Nukes
Currently, China has only liquid fueled, long-range missiles, and the majority of them are based inside underground silos. These long-range rockets are reported to be "bore-sighted" – meaning the underground silos are aimed directly at target cities inside the United States.
The Chinese army is now attempting to shift its strategic nuclear arsenal to a solid-fuel "launch on command" capability. These new missiles are rail- and road-mobile and require sophisticated electronic guidance systems to accurately strike their intended targets.
As part of this upgrade, the Chinese army is also modifying its nuclear warhead designs to arm new survivable missiles such as the DF-31 and JL-2. Chinese engineers are planning to equip these new missiles with MIRV technology, allowing each missile to carry multiple nuclear warheads.
Again, the U.S. radiation hardened computer chip technology is a logical addition to the reconfiguration and upgrade of Chinese nuclear weapons.
Stolen U.S. Chips
Another critical element of the Clinton-supplied waiver is the fact that it took place during an investigation of Chinese espionage into missing U.S. radiation hardened satellite chips.
In February 1996, a Chinese Long March rocket carrying a Loral Intelsat satellite failed and crashed on lift-off. The Loral Intelsat payload was badly damaged. The Chinese intended to launch the Loral satellite into deep space as they had been paid to do by Loral CEO Bernard Schwartz.
However, fate took a twisted path, and so did the Chinese rocket. The Long March rocket failed on launch and crashed into a nearby Chinese village, killing over 200 innocent civilians. The failure of the Long March allowed the U.S. to recover the sealed satellite guidance box, which revealed the control board of radiation-hardened chips was missing.
The missing board from the Loral Intelsat satellite is no mystery. It quickly became obvious that Chinese engineers removed the special electronics and kept the board for examination. The stolen Loral electronics consist of radiation hardened, encrypted telemetry chips, stored in a secure flight control box similar to those found on airliners. The NSA changed all U.S. satellite codes as a result of the stolen Loral chips, costing American taxpayers millions of dollars.
1996 Illegal Campaign Donations
Another factor involved in the November 1996 waiver issued by then-President Clinton is the fact that illegal money entered the U.S. elections from the Chinese army. The money was donated to the DNC from a variety of sources including convicted Chinagate figures John Huang, Charlie "Yah-Lin" Trie and Johnny Chung.
The 1996 Clinton-Gore campaign readily accepted much of the money from the Chinese army sources without question, and in some cases took these donations in cash. The allegations of Chinese espionage and illegal campaign donations were never investigated properly.
The successful effort by China to obtain U.S. microchip technology included espionage, sabotage and perhaps bribery. The red intelligence windfall freed the Chinese army to more accurately target American cities with atomic weapons using advanced U.S technology.
The legacy that President Clinton left for the 21st century is a modern Chinese army equipped for global nuclear war.

Now let us look at N.Korea and their connect to China and they now have nukes after Carter and Clinton made a deal? And lets not us forget the test they did that hit Alaska? So I say yes they did do harm. We can not afford to have another 4yrs of this kind of TRASH!!
