Internet Haganah (thanks to Ron for the heads-up) notes that an Al-Qaeda site has posted a map of Vienna with a site marked:
This is an underground parking garage [tiefgarage] in the center of Vienna in the immediate vicinity of the Vienna State Opera House, the Grand Hotel and numerous other tourist attractions. We don't have enough information yet about the file, who posted it, who is linking to it, etc., to be able to accurately assess whether this is a potential target, and if so, how great and imminent a threat it is. However, in light of what is above the tiefgarage...
Target Vienna? Vienna has always been a target. Islam tried to go west into Europe through that door centuries ago. The irony is now they can enter from the west!
The apologists are also waiting to make sure that the blame for an attack will be laid on....uhm.....the people of Vienna of course...who else?
Those weasle's will try anything.
Yahweh Reighns in the Highest.
So why would they post mission plans on internet sites available to anyone when there are more clandestine means available to them?
While it is plausible and rightfully the area could be secured -- it should also come as no surprise that this is most likely "misinformation" disseminated so that limited resources can be spread further.
As far as penetration is concerned, they already have long ago -- many of the islamists are already working within various institutions charged with security in various places.
These, need to be rooted out.
IMO, they must be laughing at our running around naming everything they put on a site and raising the terror alerts when their real target is still hidden.
Tuh!
Of course it's the Austrians' fault! They eat everything mit schlag.
What did the Ayatollah tell us, once if not a hundred times? Please listen (you will be tested on this material later). There is no fun in Islam.
Here's how it works:
Think of it as research in a journal. Just like a scientist can come up with a discovery with no idea or capability of how to apply it, someone came up with the idea of bombing this garage, did the research, and published it. He or They now hope that someone will pick up the ball and continue.
Don't think some master organized plan. Think lots of lots of groups and individuals of varying capabilities trying to work independently towards a common goal--- our destruction.
From wikipedia:
The pursuit of the saracens in fact continued relentlessly until March 2, 1924 when the Caliphate itself was flushed down the toilet of failed ideologies.
The famed winged Polish Hussars have returned to the fray as courageous leaders in the frontline assault on the ragtag jihadis, this time in the very heart of the defunt Islamic empire, Baghdad.
The true historical context of the current counter-jihad includes the Battle of Tours (632), the Battle of Alcama (718), the capitulation of Granada (1492), the Battle of Vienna (1683), and the Treaty of Versailles (1918).
The West has defeated the scourge of jihad repeatedly for over a 1000 years. The present generation of jihadis will decide themselves how thoroughly their ideology will be erased from the planet this time. As long as they persist in attacking the West, they will know the bitterness of defeat that all of their jihadi forebears have tasted.
Hulegu Khan:
Interesting article. Do you suppose that the Austrians, Germans, and Poles were actually united in the commanality of purpose under the ideology of a "Christian Europe?"
Your beginning quote does state: "The Battle of Vienna (as distinct from the Siege of Vienna some hundred-fifty years earlier), marked the final turning point in a 250-year struggle between the forces of Christian Europe and the Ottoman Empire...."
If so, do you suppose that the same commonality of purpose under the ideology of a "Christian Europe" remains as a viable unifying factor?
It is said by many that Europe is currently in a "post-Christian era," meaning I suppose that the majority of those in the West are secular-humanists who view morality, history, and much more through the prism of "cultural realtivism."
In fact, most of the Christian churches throughout Europe, Scandanavia, and America are in decline.
Therefore, it seems on the surface at least, that while the West is divided on many fronts against itself, the Caliphate -- that you say has been "...flushed down the toilet of failed ideologies" is in fact on the rise with its adherents unified in the singular purpose of bring the West to heel under the banner of islam.
This fact of a West divided against itself, with an aspiring and united Caliphate on the move is a distinguish feature that is different than the past conflagrations that you mention.
For instance the mere insinuation of "religon" to a Westerner will be met with yawns to glares; the same insinuation to the other side will get you a string of eager martyrs.
I hope your opptomistic prognostication prevails, but your must be aware of significant differences that existed then and now.
Given that just above the garage is the Opera House, with the conductor waving his baton, and this legitimizes a posting a batons rompus. Which is, to wit: the item gives new meaning to the phrase made famous in the Jack Buchanan hit "Goodnight Vienna." Which leads, further, to the query: can one imagine coming out of the world of Islam a singer like Jack Buchanan, or a song like "And Her Mother Came Too." Or to put it otherwise: what is it, exactly, of all the good things that have come out of what we call Western civilization, Hume or Spinoza, Fats Waller or Piero della Francesca, Jacques Barzun or Georges Perec, what, who, could possibly have come out of Islam? What songs, what singers? What paintings? What books? Forget about all the rest. There is no there there. Nothing. And nothing will come of nothing. Whatever the faults of this decadent West, as the siren song of Da'wa is heard, that Nothing has to be kept in mind.
Hugh
Don't forget the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.
Can you imagine either of them coming out of an Islamic world?
And I wonder what muslims were doing during the Sixties? I don't think they were celebrating Woodstock, or having sex, and drugs, and rock 'n roll.
OT-
Today's number one reason to reject Islam:
The women's beach volleyball at the Olympics!
I have vacationed in most european countries,2-3/year and i can tell you that Viena is a wanderful city...full of history, art, and class.
The people are extremely nice, quiet, polite and cosmopolite, the streets are clean, the buildings have been restaurated and in pristine condition, the parks are superbely maintained.
While waiting for a boat trip on the Danube,i had about 2 hours to spend and i took a walk along the Danube`s south shore....it was like i have entered a totaly different world,a different country, with arab shops, arab merchandise, arab language, women wearing the burqa and men wearing the long robes and turbans, thousands of them just hanging around.
Austrians look like peaceful, civilized people and i don`t think they can resist this muslim invasion and the violance that will follow.
In France,Germany and Britain i knew what to expect, and i was not surprised to see muslims at the airport security points, drivind taxi cabs,at the hotels, shops, etc, but in Austria i was shocked at the extent of the muslim invasion into this tiny, beautiful country.
Let us not confuse the religion of Christianity (or as some would prefer, Churchianity) with the civilization of Christendom. It is the civilization of Christendom that is animated by the Western ideology, and it is the Western ideology that has prevailed over the now defunct Islamic empire and its own underlying ideology that the present generation of jihadis aspire to revive. The revival is destined to fail if for no other reason than its adherents wish to "return" to a time and world circumstance that will never be again. The animating spirit of the present generation that champions the ideology of Christendom on the other hand, is one that propels the welfare of humanity forward, not backward.
Who knows what Islamists-Fascists are up to! But we must take everything they show on their wretched sites as potential targets and report it.
Think these creeps get a thrill and feeling of power as they do these postings...
Hulega Khan,
Good article, but I hope you're not suggesting that this current threat to Vienna could be some kind of revenge attack for something that happened centuries ago.
Which brings forth the question: what do have they got to gain from hurting Austria? From what I've seen they've remained pretty much neutral throughout the Iraqi conflict.
Hugh , have you any thoughts on this?
The People in Austria is worried about immigration for example turks immigration, there has been spectacular cases like conversions to protestantism to pakistani girl that has to be protected against all the muslim comunity including his family but I´m optimistic the people are wakening up,
Austria poses no particular threat to Islam. Islam claims Austria as part of the "near war," lands that were part of Islam, if only briefly. In fact, Islam claims all of the earth as it claims that all of the earth was Islamic before "false religions" took over. Thus, they will continue to chip away until all lands are returned to their true masters, Muslims, and the rest of us are dhimmis or dead!!

That is precisely what I am suggesting. To the jihadi the passage of centuries is irrelevant. They freely admit that their present war with the non-muslim world (dar al-harb) is a continuation of the war waged by Muhammad himself. In their worldview there has never been an interruption. It all has to do with their belief in the timeless nature of the Quran and the example set by the prophet (sina. The jihadis themselves shout from the rooftops that their war on the West today is most definitely about continuing their quixotic joust with the Western "crusaders". So why is it so difficult for the West to even have a public discourse on this explicitly delivered message from the jihadis? Is it perhaps because it defies logic and is therefore irrational? If so, how should we confront this irrational behaviour?
